UKMIX site checker
UKMIX uses a robot (we created it ourselves) to check all the sites in the directory for errors. If your site is listed, you might see entries in your logfiles identified like this:
UKMIX site checker (http://www.ukmix.org/about/robot.html)
What it does
The robot checks your website for errors about once every 1-2 days. Unlike search engines, we don't do a full site crawl - just a quick grab of the home page, and possibly a few other pages if you use frames.
If we get an error or can't connect, we'll try to fetch your page again a couple of hours later. If there's still no joy, we mark your page as 'suspended', and stop checking altogether, until somebody looks into the problem. Meanwhile, your site won't show up in our directory.
How to stop it
Because we don't do a full crawl, we're not currently reading robots.txt files. In any case, if the robot were denied access by whatever means, we would need to remove your site from the directory because it can't be checked for errors.
If you don't want our 'bot visiting your site, or you think there's a problem with it, use the feedback form to let us know.
