Madonna Gets Sweet And Strong With Timbaland, Justin Timberlake On "Hard Candy"

Pop icon's final album for Warner Bros., which will also feature Pharrell and Danjahandz, is due April 29.
By Larry Carroll

She's a living legend, wrapping up an 11-album contract that has yielded some of her most classic songs. Now, Madonna is announcing that she'll be going out the same way she came in: hard.

Hard Candy is the new, official title of the pop icon's final album for Warner Bros. Records, MTV News confirmed, and will land in stores April 29. According to an Entertainment Weekly report, the newly christened record will feature production by Timbaland, Pharrell Williams and Nate "Danjahandz" Hills.

One song on the album will be called "Candy Store" (not to be confused with 50 Cent's "Candy Shop"), and the first single is titled "Four Minutes to Save the World," reminding us once again that while advancing in age, Madonna certainly hasn't been bogged down by newfound modesty.

"She loves candy," her representative Liz Rosenberg told EW in response to Madonna's sweet-tooth album and song title. "It's about the juxtaposition of tough and sweetness, or as Madonna so eloquently expressed: 'I'm gonna kick your ass, but it's going to make you feel good.' "

The release of the album is timed just a few weeks after Madonna's eagerly anticipated induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next month. The now-49-year-old Madonna Louise Ciccone Ritchie is aiming to prove she can still bring it on the dance floor, and Hard Candy will aid her with some high-wattage help that also includes multi-song collaborator Justin Timberlake.

As Timbaland told MTV News recently, he had been reaching out to the Material Girl, only to discover that she'd been looking for him at the same time. "It's crazy to see how many people want to work with me," he said of his collaboration with Madonna. "I'm still in shock."

What I'm wondering is.. when they say "an album for the new year".. do they mean they are working on it this year, or that it will most definately be released this year..

I think it'll be more of a mix between Bedtime Stories/American Life/Confessions more than anything :) although there were songs on Ray Of Light that I considered to be Rock.

AWESOME! I thought the next one will have to be a mikx of styles, and I;'m glad she's working with other people as well as Stuart - she works better with a pool of different writers and producers eg Ray of Light.

Countdown starts here then - I guess a release in time for Xmas is likely, or if not, Spring 2008.

from madonnatribe.com :o
"We were exclusively informed that Madonna will be recording materials to include on a new album in the USA with Pharrell Williams, while rumoured producer Timbaland is not in the picture. From what we have been told Stuart Price will not be on board as a main producer for this album either, as Madonna really wants to make an American hip-hop album, that will put her in the American mainstream for a change. We have no doubt it's gonna be amazing, but in any case we have been told by our sources that it won't be happening any time soon this year."

I wouldn't worry about the Hip Hop aspect- Madonna NEVER takes the backseat, and no matter what she's working on, genre aside, she makes it her own.

Posted here as other thread was locked:

TENTATIVE release date for Madonna New Album!

EXCLUSIVE - Last month we at Drowned Madonna told you that Madonna had a meeting and a dinner with Warner in New York to discuss possible release options for her new album, and we told you that Madonna wanted her album to be released this year, alongside October-November, so that she could tour next summer. We also told you that there was going to be an exclusive listening - 3 songs - to only Warner executives.

Drowned Madonna has learnt that this listening has already happened. As we told you, Warner executives have heard 3 tracks so far. One has HIT written all over it, and it wasn’t "Candy Shop".

They also talked about a TENTATIVE release date, which is due on October 29, 2007.

Furthermore, as we already confirmed on our community, Madonna is IN TALKS with director Chris Applebaum to direct a video.

Is it just me or is Pharrell really not that big a deal anymore?? When was his last hit? Seemed his biggest hits were 3-4 years ago.

Not true. Chad does play some instruments, but, as seen in Justin Timberlake's "Senorita," Pharrell plays the drums.

http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/jul05/a ... oleman.htm

On 'Rock Star' and 'Lap Dance', Williams will play a standard drum kit...
Askmen.com:

In addition to his impressive producing and singing talents, Pharrell also plays the drums, keyboard, synthesizer, and guitar.
