Depeche Mode's frontman records a solo album
that will include collaborations with Bjork and PJ Harvey.

However he said Depeche Mode fans should not worry, as it doesn't mean the end of the group.

I wonder how it will compare to Depeche Mode, will it be as depressing. I can't see it being very pop-like. (Is he off the drugs?)

He is off the drugs, apparently, since before they recorded the new album "Exciter".

I don't know how it'll work out, coz my fave tracks by DM always happen to be written and/or performed by Martin Gore! (somehow they're not as depressing as the rest)
