I believe that what you wear on the outside reflects who you are on the inside. (This is why I wear mainly dark colours).

Is it wrong to slightly look down on someone because they have absolutely no fashion sense & look unbelievably awkward in the way that they dress?

Also - do you adhere to any fashions - how would you describe your style? Does it bother you if you go out without looking good, even if it's just to put a letter in the postbox?

Just thought I'd bring a little bit of shallow talk to the forum.

I think it is, because some people don't share our view that what you wear reflects who you are, some people just wear clothes for something to put on. I'm much more conscious of people who over-dress for attention & stand out like a sore thumb.

I obviously adhere at times but it is just in my personality to want to find items that reflect me and are a lot more unique. I wouldn't give a toss going to the postbox, sometimes I don't even wash or brush my hair when I'm doing that. I like to be 'invisible' at times, especially when you're doing something like that.

What I'm wearing is quite important to me, but it's all relative to what you're doing/where you're going on a given day e.g. I couldn't care less what I'm wearing if I'm not leaving the house

I would describe my style as surfer meets skater meets clubber

I suppose that as a person and a man especially i tend to take my time getting ready to go out dressing up etc. When asked about it i always tell people that i never dress up for anyone else except for myself. Being comfortable with the clothes that i am wearing, the way my hair is etc etc gives me a boost of confidence, and confidence always tends to make one look prettier :P

Basically this means that i will never leave the house if i think im not ok, and the times i dress and leave the house only to realize im not comfortable with what im wearing, i feel completely miserable.

I agree that what you wear reflects your personality but to a certain extend.

I dont tend to look down on people who do not have a lot of fashion sense, unless they're walking disasters dressed up in hilarious outfits.

What bugs me most is when i can tell on the appearance of someone that he/she isnt trying to look decent at all.. I find that more disturbing than not having a lot of fashion sense.

I would describe my style as casual, very simple and minimal with a dash of indie rock or electro pop

I wear whatever I happen to grab first.

...I guess that says something about what I'm like on the inside. Bloody lazy, or something.
This post is highly unlikely to be serious. Please treat it accordingly. Unless it's music-related, in which case I'm damn well right.

I've started really getting into fashion, actually. One of my closest friends is a fashion student and it's always fun going shopping with her.

I don't follow fashion per se, though. I believe that you should dress the way that you feel comfortable. Personally, I like to be a little different with the way I dress. I've said it before but I love necklaces - especially girls' ones - so I wear a necklace with almost every outfit that I wear. I'm also a big fan of neckscarves, even though I know they're mainly aimed at girls.

I like dressing up when I'm going out shopping or if I'm on a day out because I like to feel good and look my best. If I'm just popping to my local shop or posting a letter or something similarly obscure then I'll just go out in my tracksuit bottoms and hoodie, but the majority of the time I'll be dressed up like a Prada model, or so I like to think.

You said "as a man especially" - I would have thought this would be the exact opposite. We certainly have some fashion queens on here :P

Almost everything you mentioned above applies to me - I don't think too-too much about what I wear but I like to plan ahead - for instance it would be mortifying if I didn't plan out my clothes properly only to meet up with a friend whilst wearing the same thing they saw me last in.

Similarly, if my clothes don't smell fresh or are creased or if I feel they don't go, it'll affect my mood for the whole day. I'm the same with my hair.

I feel like I'm a bit boring with my style though, especially since the string for my key broke :(

You still fit the clothes you wore when you were 12?!

Having said that I came across some pyjamas I used to wear when I was 11 & they still fitted my perfectly. Don't know if that's a good or a bad thing

you make me laugh man! I'm exactly the same as you lazy as f**k, I don't believe nothing about this 'what you wearis who you are on the inside' it's all tosh, I can wear what I want it doesn't nessacarily mirror what's going on inside! the word that beren used 'shallow' fit's the idea well.. people are so much more complex than what people tend to think.

I'm the same. At home I'm usually in my PJ's cos its comfy, but if I go out shopping or something, then I get dressed properly (usually if its just down the road to the shops I'll put on a pair of jeans and an older t-shirt or top and my hoodie if its cold). Not bothered about going out to the postbox in my PJ's, do it all the time!

I do like to look good if I'm going on a night out somewhere as well, I tend to plan my outfit a bit more then (I plan it a little bit normally, but not to a massive extent) - only then do I do makeup and stuff, every other day I can't be bothered slapping on the warpaint - I've seen girls who look like clowns and its not a look I want to emulate! I do like to look somewhat fashionable, but I'm not a total slave to the trends at all, purely cos some of those trends don't suit me or are not my taste in clothing etc.

I'd say my look is...I don't know. In summer I live in my tank tops/t-shirts with a skirt or a pair of shorts and one of my gazillion pairs of flip flops, for winter its jeans, boots and a long top layered underneath with a singlet top, with a jacket and a coat. I'd say its pretty casual in that sense, but girly enough at the same time with a classic & clean edge - ripped jeans are not my thing! I love colour though and I'm not afraid to use it clothing wise. Not big on the jewellery, but I do tend to wear it more in summer.

I really like the T-shirts from Topman with the two colours. (A main colour and a different one for the hem of the sleeves and buttons!)

I've got a thing about jeans. I have to wear skinny jeans and they have to be black. Blue jeans just look wrong on me and if I don't have any clean black ones then I have a grey pair for an emergancy!

I live in my Nike 6.0s too, I love them. If they don't go with what I'm wearing then I'll usually either wear my black slip ons.

Top half, I used to live in cardigans but I've given them up now, I just wear a bright coloured tshirt in some way and a hoodie. :)

When I go out I do tend to make more of an effort, depends where I'm going. Usually a shirt, or a nice tsihrt.

I tend to stay clear of labels though, haven't really found any one that suits me.

I like to think that I have pretty good style.

What I wear to 6th form is usually smart/casual business wear. Just a smart top/shirt, with either skinny jeans, or office trousers. Sometimes smart shorts if it is hot. And then I just hammer on a pair of heels. I love the thick chunky wooden heels so much. I hardly ever wear flats to 6th form!

When I go out shopping, I usually wear a long t-shirt with some witty phrase on it ( ), along with some black or blue skinny jeans and again heels.

I have a shoe fetish! I really do! I value my shoes more than any other item I own...apart from my iPod probably! I have so many pairs...they practically have a wardrobe exclusive!
I definately own more heels than flats, and I do own 2/3 pairs of trainers. Most of my shoes are very bright colours. My actual clothing is very neutral, so I jazz it up with my shoes! I have heels in electric blue, flourescent pink, yellow, green etc. I just love bright colours! I have a pair of flourescent yellow and black trainers too! I love them!
I quite like pumps, which are what my flats mostly consist of.
I don't really follow the trends for shoes though! Everyone is crazy for the gladiator sandals atm, but I think they look really tacky personally!

So yes, when I go shopping it's usually a long baggy t-shirt, black/blue skinny jeans and some flourescent pink heels.

When I go for a night out, I get more courageous with my fashion choices. I usually wear some shorts, with a top or something, with flourescent leggings!  Other times it's a dress with some killer heels!

I don't have anything to say about anyone else's fashion styles. I think people are allowed to come out how they like, and shouldn't feel pressured into wearing what's "hot".

In guys, I like them to wear casual/smart clothes. Just some light dusty styled jeans, with some lovely black business shoes...I love those collarless shirts alongside a casual waistcoat. Then with some mega cool shades to top it all! :)

I don´t think what you wear reflects what you are, but sometimes what you wear reflects what you THINK you are, or what you want other people to think you are...

I have met so many people with interesting looks, but when you start talking to them they are absolutely uninteresting, while some just look like an average, normal, person and when you know it better, it´s a very deep and intelligent personality.

Personally, I don´t like people who seem too obsessed with their looks, but that doesn´t mean I don´t care about my looks at all.

Also, I have noticed recently that it doesn´t matter how much effort you make to look better, 99% of the people won´t even notice it or won´t give the same importance as you do. For example, when you buy new and expensive clothes and you wear it for the first time you walk feeling like a supermodel... but most people who see you don´t have a clue that you are wearing something new or special at all. That´s why I´m not investing in clothes anymore, it´s been months since I don´t buy any.

Don't come bringing MY word up in MY grill!

Not as sweet as you? :o Do you even know me? (I guess that'd be a no )

Okay compliment back... erm... you're decent conversation... :D

MadeOfBricks - Ha! I used to "live" in black jeans as well - until I discovered grey & midnight blue. (Such variety!) I've since gone back to black though as an alternative.

I can't stand this sort-of-friend of mine who keeps telling me cardigans are for women &/or old men. Mind you he wears terrible clothes most of the time & a hat with a skull motif & floppy ears
