My predictions for the top 5:

1 - Chelsea
2 - Liverpool
3 - Man Utd
4 - Arsenal
5 - Man City

I feel strongly the title will be won by either Chelsea or Liverpool this season. Our chances rest on how well Ancelotti adapts to the English game. We've strengthened the same squad that finished strongly last season under Hiddink with a couple of useful additions in Zhirkov and Sturridge. From watching the pre-season games it looks like we'll be playing a diamond formation with Drogba and Anelka both starting as out-and-out strikers upfront (....about time!)

Alonso will be an obvious miss for Liverpool, but I can't say I know that much about his replacement Aquilani so will be interested to see how that works out. Johnson is a curious signing.... I wasn't his biggest fan in his time at Chelsea - at times he was a real liability, but he seems to have benefited from more playing time at Portsmouth so perhaps is more prepared to play for a top 4 team now. Not really sure if Liverpool are stronger or not than last season yet.

Ronaldo will be a huge loss for Man U as not only was he their top scorer and best attacking player by a distance, his replacement Valencia isn't even close to being in the same league. I didn't overly rate Tevez so I don't think his departure is that big a problem for them. Owen is a bizarre signing given his injury record, but he may surprise us all and stay relatively fit this season with the World Cup looming!

Arsenal may have sold Toure and Adebayor to Man City, but I think its still a season too soon for City to break into the top 4. Even with Toure they still look a bit weak in defence, and with that many new signings will perhaps take a bit of time to gel. More than anything though I'm not sure Hughes is the right manager to fulfil their ambitions.

This might all change with more transfer activity but it's the way it's shaping up for me at the moment.... :)

Totally agree.

I see a good season for Liverpool, as much as it pains me to say.

My prediction:

Liverpool
Man U
Chelsea
Arsenal

I reckon the top of the table will look like this:

1. Chelsea
2. Man Utd
3. Liverpool
4. Arsenal
5. Aston Villa
6. Everton
7. Man City
8. Fulham

I reckon Stoke, Hull and Burnley will drop out as well.

Especially against Everton! Normally Everton are quite solid at the back.

Man U 1-0 to B.City - pretty bad result imo when playing against a team which really should be a certainty for relegation.

I agree - they should've been able to pounce the Brummies arses.

New game lost for Liverpool, 1-3 at home, what a weak start.

I know - very poor.

Not unexpected though. I've been telling anyone who will listen that we aint gonna be anyehere close this season. United neither. This one is gonna be Chelsea's season.

I sm reluctantly agreeing :( If Arsenal finish second though, that'd be good, a better qualification for CL and an up yours to those saying we wouldn't be top four.

What a joke yesterday. Not denying it was a penalty but the ref was a joke not giving us one at the other end (even if we did score anyway) and was a genuine Manc all afternoon. We came so close to beating them despite that anyway, Arshavin just wide, Van Persie free kick hitting the bar, and again from that lovely Arshavin ball (good reactions from the keeper there though to be fair) and then with the offside at the end (not disagreeing with that either). We just really deserved to win, was gutted.

Yep quite undeserved win for Utd but to be fair I don't think Arsenal were that great either. They sure had the better chances but I never really felt Arsenal would score a goal.

Both teams should have had a penalty and before the final whistle Utd should have burried the match with the Nani and Berbatov insane chances.

I never remember West Brom being that good last season!

Unfortunately I can see Boro being the only relegated team not going back up next year!
