PnP, I just wanted to say you're doing a great job with this countdown. You've also been very consistent. Its very seldom you can find a relatively 'new' poster who would be happy and dedicated to being a host to an artists countdown. :D
Thank You very much... I am also planning on hosting "UKMix Top R&B/Soul Acts"

I hope you're gonna vote in this so we won't find an act like Noel4Sho in the chart.

Puff Daddy / P Diddy

I'm stunned at many people saying that he shouldn't be top 10. This guy is, in my opinion, one of the three men who have dominated the hip hop scene.

Puff Daddy, Jay-Z and Dr Dre between them are pretty much behind the careers of the majority of the rap world. However much I might dislike P Diddy's "Press Play" stuff, the dreadful songs with Nicole from PCD, Christina Aguilera and Keyshia Cole, he's done loads of classics as well.

As for my predictions...

1 Missy Elliott
2 Eminem
3 Kanye West
4 Snoop Dogg
5 Jay-Z
6 Eve
7 Rihanna (as I can't think of anyone else, and someone might have!)
8 Pharrell

Obviously the one I want to win is Eminem, but sadly, given the female-domination here, I think Missy has this one sewn up.

Rihanna lol, I really regret letting Fergie enter but I would never let Rihanna do it. Pharell is number 42. Personally I love Diddy's music too (I think he was in my top5) I have all albums and I have to say I also love Press Play, a great R&B album. His rapping skills were never that awesome hence I like Press Play for it's R&B guests (Brandy, Keri Hilson, Mario Winans, Keyshia Cole, Nicole Scherzinger etc)

TOMORROW I WILL REVEAL THE NEXT TWO ENTRIES, WHY TWO? BECAUSE WE HAVE A PERFECT TIE BETWEEN TWO HIP HOP ACTS FROM THE SAME REGION WHO'VE STARTED THEIR CAREER IRONICALLY AT THE SAME, WHILE BOTH HAD THEIR CAREER PEAKS AT EACH DIFFERENT PERIODS... WHO IS IT... I MEAN... WHO ARE THEY?

FACTS

POSITION: #7
SCORE: 224
Career Glance: Cornell Haynes, Jr. (November 2, 1974),[1] better known by his stage name Nelly, is a rapper, singer, actor and entrepreneur. He has performed with the rap group St. Lunatics since 1993 and signed to Universal Records in 1999. Under Universal, Nelly made his solo debut in 2000 with Country Grammar, the title track of which was a top ten hit. With his following albums, Nellyville (2002) and the same-day dual release Sweat and Suit (2004) and compilation Sweatsuit (2006), Nelly continued to generate many chart-topping hits. He won Grammy Awards in 2003 and 2004 and starred in the 2005 remake film The Longest Yard with Adam Sandler and Chris Rock. He has two clothing lines, Vokal and Apple Bottoms.
He was soon signed to Universal Music Group, which released his major label debut Country Grammar in 2000. The success of its title track as a single (#7 on the Hot 100 and #1 Hot Rap Tracks) led to the album debuting at number three in the Billboard 200 in the U.S. Other singles from the album included "E.I.", "Ride Wit Me", and "Batter Up". The album was certified 9× platinum by the RIAA on April 27, 2004. Suit, an R&B-oriented album, debuted at number one on the Billboard albums chart, and Sweat, a rap-oriented album, debuted at number two. From Suit, the slow ballad "Over and Over", an unlikely duet with country music star Tim McGraw, became a crossover hit. Combined the album were certified 5 x platinum. His current album "Brass Knuckles" is his only one that could be considered a "flop".

The biggest hits by the Dirrty-South-rap-star are:

"Country Grammar (Hot Shit)"
"E.I."
"Ride wit Me" (feat. City Spud)
"#1"
"Girlfriend (Remix)" (with *NSYNC)

SNOOP DOGG

FACTS

POSITION: #6
SCORE: 226
Career Glance: Cordazar Calvin Broadus (born October 20, 1971), better known by his stage name Snoop Dogg, is a Grammy Award-nominated American rapper, record producer, and actor. Snoop is best known as an MC in the West Coast hip hop scene, and for being one of producer Dr. Dre's most notable protégés. He popularized the catch phrase suffix "-izzle," a slang term or infix that had been in use for decades, but not nearly to the extent that it currently permeates the pop and hip hop music industry as well as general usage.

Snoop Dogg was a Crip gang member while in high school; shortly after graduation, he was arrested for cocaine possession and sentenced to three years in prison, then began his music career in 1992 after his release. He collaborated with Dr. Dre on several tracks on Dre's solo debut, The Chronic and on the titular theme song to the film Deep Cover. Snoop's debut album, Doggystyle, was released in 1993 under Death Row Records. Doggystyle went quadruple platinum and spawned several hit singles "Who Am I (What's My Name?)" and "Gin & Juice."

In 1996, Snoop Dogg was cleared of charges over his bodyguard's 1993 murder of Phillip Woldemariam. His second album, 1996's Tha Doggfather, was his last release for Death Row before he signed with No Limit Records, with whom he recorded three albums from 1998 to 2001. Snoop then joined Capitol Records in 2002 for his album Paid tha Cost to Be da Boss, and then to Geffen Records in 2004 for his next three albums. He also joined forces with his cousin Nate Dogg and rapper Warren G as the supergroup 213 for an album in 2004. His current album "Malice In Wonderland is to be released this or next year.

In addition to music, Snoop Dogg has also starred in motion pictures and hosted several television shows: Doggy Fizzle Televizzle, Snoop Dogg's Father Hood, and Dogg After Dark. He also coaches a youth football league and high school football team. Snoop Dogg has also run into many legal troubles, some of which caused him to be legally banned from the UK and Australia. He is the cousin of rappers Nate Dogg and Lil' Half Dead and the cousin of R&B singers Brandy and Ray J.

"Who Am I (What's My Name)?" (with Dr. Dre)

OK...I hadn't seen this thread before so I just read through the previous 13 pages.

Where are Public Enemy??!?

Obviously they should be right at the top of any such poll but having seen others languishing at low positions I fear they might not be on the list at all.

Also, what's up with The Beastie Boys at 87 (Check Your Head, Paul's Boutique), NWA at 85 (Express Yourself). Where are Run DMC (Walk This Way) and Eric B & Rakim (Follow the Leader)?

If Soulja Boy comes out ahead of all of those acts the folks that voted should hang their heads in shame. Those that didn't even vote (hmmm...that'd be me) aren't much better.

(thinks for a short while...)

What am I saying??? Of course, Public Enemy are going to be there. It would be madness otherwise.

Past couple pages re-cap from me:

Sean Paul and T-Pain over Biggie! WTF? :o

KHIA at #24!!

Who in the hell voted for this thing?

Major props for Lupe Fiasco though, truly one of the greatest MCs to debut this century... if not the greatest. 8-)

Hell yes for Dr Dre.

50 Cent is all good, great entertainer but skill-wise he wouldn't be this high. Ditto Timbo, mad producer for sure, but seriously?

Trina at #17? Just when this list was starting to get back on track...

Lil Wayne's all good too, but for an 'all-time' list I hardly think he's proven himself to be top 20.

Nas -- finally, a real, genuine classic artist.

Huge respect for Outkast (mainly pre-Speakerboxxx/The Love Below) but they really did their own damn thing and I'm still not over 'Spottieottiedopalicious'.

Massive fan of Luda too, good choice, but too high up; dude shouldn't top Biggie or Nas.

2Pac. Should be top 5 of all time (and would be if the voters were a snap shot of actual hip-hop fans and not Trina hoochies without a clue). Still, looking back, 'Pac could easily have been only Top 50, so I'm (sorta) happy bout this.

Lil Kim! Sure, she spits from a height on Khia and Trina, but that would (at best) give her a top 200 entry. WTF!

Lauryn Hill - finally, a woman worth mentioning. This girl is amazing, though I didn't rate her all that high because of the fact that she only had one album by herself (even if it is an epic one).

Big ups for Busta; agree wit Matt Dixon's comments, though I'm a longstanding follower of Bus-A-Bus.

Diddy. Yeah, aight, granted Diddy's contributed to the game. But he aint an overly fly MC and only a decent producer.

T.I. - Love this dudes swagger, own all of his albums. He's an incredibly articulate MC and has his own sound. Top 10 of all time? Maybe not, but he's Top 5 of this century's debut MCs.

Nelly. Well, who the hell wasn't feelin' the Country Grammar album. Since then, he's been hit'n'miss for me, but the dude knows how to craft a hook!

The Big Snoop D-O-Double-G!! What can I say, the dudes all up in the right place here, fo' shizzle, nizzle.

50 Cent is at a well-deserved position. On the other hand Notorious B.I.G. is hilariously low on the list. Come on people, why didn't you vote for him! :o

Has LL Cool J been on the list so far pleasure?
