Do you have the breakdown? I love him to be 10th but sounds impossible.

cham wrote:The Forces' Sweetheart has trumped the Fab Four in the battle for the top of the charts, making Dame Vera Lynn the oldest living artist in the world to have a number one album.

Dame Vera's debut offering We'll Meet Again — The Very Best of Vera Lynn hit the top spot, meaning the 92-year-old has now usurped Bob Dylan as the oldest artist to grace the premium position. Her album outsold artists including Arctic Monkeys, Jamie T and The Kings of Leon, and even trumped The Beatles' much-hyped remastered editions.

The 60s legends occupied the 5th, 6th, 9th, 10th, 21st, 24th, 29th, 31st, 33rd, 37th and 38th spots.
What's this got to do with US sales?!

As for the "forces sweetheart trumping the fab four", I personally never expected the Beatles to get a number one album out of this remastering. What I was looking for was plenty of chart entries, and that is what I got. Beatles have now established a new record of most albums in the top75 all at the same time, which is an incredible achievement for such an old act.

And since the Beatles sell in every country in the World, I am expecting similiar chart feats for other territories.

Very strong sales for the remasters so far in the States, according to Billboard:

Again, quite impressive for such an old set of recordings.

I'm impressed with such figures, in 01 Madonna & MJ has remasters but didn't do very well, and now Beatles can do that.

Unlike the Beatles remasters, the Madonna and Michael Jackson remasters were not heavily promoted.

I said it before there is not a doubt in my mind that MJ will join the 100 million club in terms of USA album sales, its quite exclusive with only The Beatles,Elvis and Garth Brooks.

let's go back in 89

we had :

thriller 22 M
Bad : 8 M
Off the wall : 7 m
Total : 37 M

farewell my summerlove (released in 86) : 100 000

various sales from back catalogue or Greatest Hits during the 80's : 1,5 m

Total : 38,5 M

The only way for MJ to reach 43 M is to count Triumph and Victory. By the way, if we count 8 Mile OST where there's only 4 tracks from Eminem out of 16, I think it's legit to count Triumph and Victory.

Yeah i believe you should count all albums, and the only reason why 8 Mile sold was because of Lose Yourself, so yeah all album should be included for MJ.

Relapse 2 will be out in December so it's likely that Eminem's sales may increase over another 1 Million.

When listing his sales, I always provide his album sales + the 8 Mile OST - never together. And then leave it upto the individual to decide whether they want to class the OST as an Eminem album, or as a Various

Ah, this thread! What memories! Cham trying to persuade everyone that the Beatles only sold in Britain and America! :D

I think you have learned a thing or two since, then, have you not, Cham?! NEVER underestimate the World selling power of the Beatles!

I do like your MJ research though, Cham. Unfortunately, I was still calling Michael "Jacko" at the time of this thread. Apologies for that.

As for Basil, have not seen his name on any threads for ages.
