Kate Ryan

Before the release of French Connection, it was said that Kate would release her 5th studio album . There hasn't been much going on lately on the Kate Ryan world and she also said that the new album would be 100% original stuff and fully in english.
Anyone has any news , share here

Well if that's true - particularly the 100% original part - then I applaud her!

I agree! 'Desenchantée' is a classic and 'Mon Coeur Resiste Encore' is fab. as well. After that she went downhill IMO. I did enjoy her cover of 'Libertine', but that's about it. She should really step her game up.

Her version of 'Ella Elle L'a' was really good as well and I loved both the 'Free' and 'Alive' albums.

You should listen to the album tracks and not just the singles.

Can't wait for the new record.

few songs = great
all album = even bigger flop that Alive

I think that "Scream For More" is better than "Mon Coeur", she actually wrote it a long time ago. "Mon Coeur" is a translation made for the "Different" album. "Désenchantée" is considered her best song ever, but "Ella Elle L'a" was a big hit too.
Anyways I love songs like "Only If I" , "Alive", "Goodbye" etc etc , she should try something really new and leave all the french cover stuff behind if she wants UK, USA, Australia etc etc , I like Kate anyways

She is not going to release covers anymore. So that's a good thing already. She is going for totally new stuff. Superb!

Now what she needs is something fresh, more dance. She started as a trance singer (as many Belgian acts in that time) but became more dancepop. I'd like to see her going back to more dance/trance stuff, something like a freemasons kinda thing ...

Mon Coeur beats them all, even the english version.

well, that evening noone sang live, it is kinda show which is difficult to organizate and then do all the important stuff to let everyone sing live etc ...
actually last year every performer sung live and it sucked, the aparature was poor, organisation failed ...

I think it's brave if she's really going to do a full album of only original tracks - but also risky, since her biggest hits were all covers ("Désenchantée", "Libertine", "The promise you made", "Ella elle l'a", "Voyage voyage" etc).

I'm sure she could keep her true fans happy with an original album, but not so sure about the mass market - which is what her record company will be aiming for...

I'd love to see her do some more collaborations with other producers, it often works out really well. I always loved "Spoiled", the track she sang on Regi's album.

I still think that Babacar is her best song to date, it really fits her voice, the song has IT ! Actually how many people knew it is a cover ?

It's not her worst, but I really didn't like it. Especially after the really good Ella

It's not her worst, but I really didn't like it. Especially after the really good Ella

Ella is WAY too overrated ... don´t know why people found that SO great :-?

she did even better live perfomances of Babacar
