I hope she does either or but not both now. She could just re-release Merry Christmas and add in some new tracks if she wanted to release something festive. I think a new studio release would be better once its made slowly and done right.

Seeing her with the same old producers is almost embarrassing though working with new producers is most likely not what people want to hear . I think the solution is for her to take a long healthy break . And whenever the next album comes out pls hire somebody who can write songs.

Mariah herself can write meaningful, inspiring, beautiful, fun, weird lyrics that no other artists can

How is it embarrassing to work with the same people? JD and MC have a sound that works, what is wrong with that?

To think "Memoirs" only came out in late November in the U.K.

As much as I would like her to go on a break, I would love to hear some new material from Mariah. But as others have said, I would prefer the material to be from new producers.

That said though, I'm a big fan of most of Mariah and J.D's work and Bryan's too! If they really step it up a gear they can create some solid material. I just don't want Mariah to ever work with The Dream again. I just don't like his sound at all.

"100%" was better than the entire "Memoirs" album in my opinion.

Her vocal performances always sound more polished with J.D. as well. The "H.A.T.E.U." remix for example is vocally far superior to the original.

Their work together was great! Always be my baby was 'magic'
They should stop trying to 'recreate that magic' and come up with a new style/sound .
Even if the new material is good people are way too tired of the same old same old - Mariah.

Yep I agree! If I hear another slow song with a murmur at the start and a high whistle/Scream at the end I may just go  ...

This is proof that she is working with Bryan-Michael Cox again by the way, as well as Jermaine Dupri. He was responsible for the gem that was "For The Record". 8-)

Yeah things seem to sound good anyway. Its good that shes working with them again. I hope that she never works with the dream or Tricky again. I can't wait to hear what they come up with.

From That Grape Juice:
Mariah Carey isn’t going to let the low sales of her ‘Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel’ slow her down. The icon has actually returned to the studio. However, this time Carey has put her ‘Memoirs…’ collaborators, The-Dream and Tricky Stewart, on pause and reunited with her long-time friend, songwriter/producer Jermaine Dupri. The duo, who created many of Carey’s biggest hits including Billboard’s ‘Song of the Decade’, ‘We Belong Together’, tweeted from the studio.
It’s great to see that Carey is back in the studio with Dupri. Together they have made some of the best music in her career; from ‘Always Be My Baby’ to ‘We Belong Together’ and ‘Get Your Number’. Nonetheless, Carey would do best not to rush this project like she did with her ‘Memoirs…’ LP. Hopefully she takes her time with this album like she did with ‘The Emancipation of Mimi’ and craft some of the best music in her career.

While she remains one of the most talented artists in the game, Carey has passed the ill-favoured 40-year age mark and the clock has officially begun ticking against her. If Carey wants to find success, she needs to sing like it’s her last day on Earth and act as though her 18 #1 singles never happened.
I totally agree with the last paragraph.

I don't understand the hate for The Dream, I think working with only 1 producer for the whole album was a bad idea, but if they chose the best out of their sessions and worked with other producers MOAIA would've been a much better album, not that it's so bad now, but still not good enough.
I hope she works with different producers this time around.

For the record is one of the best song she did in last decade. It's totally amazing and mesmerising. The intro is superb!

I think its relatively safe to say that this album will already be better than Memoirs with JD and B.Cox working on it. I wonder who else she will work with.

Why does she think putting an album out every year will make people interested on her music?

We are fans of hers, so of course new music is always welcome but, to me, a healthy break would be the best for sure. That and a proper TOUR. Go out Mariah, tour as much as possible, feel the love of your fans around the WORLD and come back with inspirations. The "Memoirs..." lyrics were dire and terrible, I want lyrics she had in her past albums, specially her earlier ones.

Working with Jermaine = repeating 'We Belong Together' 100 times. Same R&B. She better deliver this time because if the result is worse than "Memoirs..." in quality and sales... lol. Will she stay with Island? Can't they afford another mess of a project? LOL

She has no choice now that she has passed the 40 mark than to keep churning out records. Otherwise she will be forgotten. I think if she records all this year and releases this time next year it would be perfect.

not long breaks decide whether an album is interesting or not, i always believed that the songs are what people like to listen to.

and to daboi: i know what you mean, i really felt embarrassed for her to work with Walter Afanasieff on most of her albums in the 90's..

If she's in the studio, maybe the album will drop around Christmas time, which grants some solid sales and avoids another embarrassment. It may also mean that no Christmas album is coming (Thanks God!).

U have to realize that starting recording on a new album is no damage it's not as if she's gonna bring it out this year it could b next year then that would b more appropriate. Plus u have to realize that for the casual listener many ppl think Mariah hasn't released a song since obsessed so in manyqats she hasn't had a big song since June 2009. They need to aim this album at the younger demographic the ppl that actually download and buy the albums. And she has 2 realize that radio do not want ballads

And she may work with other producers were only at the start yet but hopefully she works with ppl like Darchild, RedOne, to get sone hot uptempo dance tracks or even she could work with The Outsiders who produced womanizer and she could work with Cathy Dennis, she's done some amazing work!

Just no more tacky dream productions that sound like demos and no Xmas album. I Also think she should collab with sone high profile artists I'd live her to collab with Leona that would b amazing and it would b guarranteed UK success

I appreciate hard work so if she's ready to work hard for this album - good for her - why not ?
I'm hoping for better lyrics , for the rest i'm sure i'll enjoy
I don't think she will achieve chart success though , It is not for nothing that artists take a 2 or 3 years break between every album release
A bit off topic but after all is said and done E=MC2 is my favourite Mariah album

I agree on her vocals sounding more polished. JD brings out powerhouse mariah. Dream tends to overthink his beats a lil' bit. But I tend to favor Dream more.

Hopefully JD doesn't get the whole album though. I want MC to work with Polow Da Don, Boi-1-Da, Tricky Stewart & Dream (atleast 2 songs), a few organic songs, and possibly Danja. I would say Bangladesh but the whole "Diva" and "Smooches" style beats sound a bit-dated now.
see, men come a dime-a-dozen so it don't mean nuttin' to me. i aint even worried 'bout u homie cause theirs plenty more fish in the sea.
