There's certainly a significant proportion of matches - in total, well over a quarter of the top 100! And, having now looked at your 1992 list, I see that there are eight further tracks there that also entered my monthly charts, and appear in my year-end list for 1991.....

The reason for the differences in years is that, partly as records can take a
long time to reach my monthly charts - months, years, even decades!!! - for the yearly lists I have aimed, with only two deliberate exceptions, to allocate each track to
the year it was originally recorded / released (even if only then as an album track). For this, I have been guided by the details printed on the labels and/or sleeves (unless there is clear evidence that they are incorrect. For example, the 12" single of Jan Wayne's "Hello" is "(P) and (C) 2010" - but I received my copy several weeks before the end of 2009!) The internet has also become helpful in identifying errors that I still need to correct - with sites such as
www.swisscharts.com apparently adopting the same approach to dating.

I hadn't heard the Cranberries in 1992 - it was in my top 40 breakers only in July and August 1994!! - but 1992 is the date on either the single or the LP from which it came, as confirmed by
www.swisscharts.com.
The two deliberate exceptions to this policy are:
- there is sometimes reasonable evidence, or at least a possibilty, that Eurovision Song Contest entries were originally recorded/released towards the end of the previous year rather than earlier in the year of the contest - but even where there are such doubts, I include these in the year of the contest;
- although various sources reveal that the
Cyndi Lauper album "She's So Unusual" was released towards the end of 1983, I'm not convinced that anything from it really reached this side of the world before 1984 - and 1983 was such a good year for music that I already had exactly
100 chart hits for that year. So I allocated all the hits and breakers tracks from this one album to 1984 instead.

accidental exception / mistake!!
I would certainly have originally heard this in the Irish chart shows of 1989 - but, like many other Irish tracks from then and the preceding decade, I wasn't able to get the singles, or even albums containing them, until some time later. I'm not aware of "Carolina Rua" charting anywhere else at this time, but the reason it appeared in my chart in August and September 1992 would have been that it was only then that I finally managed to get a copy - at a record fair, if I remember correctly. (Like many other Ireland-only hits, it might not even have had a UK single release?) But I don't think there can have been a year of issue marked on its label - so I must have forgotten when I originally heard it, and allocated it to 1992, where it has wrongly remained ever since!!
When I have completed the 2000-2003 Europarades in a few weeks' time, I think I'll aim to check my personal charts files more thoroughly, and rectify such errors - as I'm sure there are others. Indeed, one I have only just discovered from doing the Europarades is that I had
XTM...'s "Fly On The Wings Of Love" in
2003 - as that's when it charted in the UK, Ireland and elsewhere, and when it entered my top 40. But I now realise that they actually recorded and originally released this in the same year as the Olsen Brothers' winning Eurovision version,
2000 - it entered the Spanish charts before the end of that year!
So I have now amended my postings of the 1989 and 1992 yearly charts, on pages 7 and 8 of this thread respectively, to move "Carolina Rua" from the latter into the former - re-numbering everything that was, or now is, below it, and adding in a new number 100 for 1992.....

did also reach the breakers. But they peaked only at 120 and 98 respectively, so neither qualify for my top 100 of the year. Both are close, though!

Thanks - although what happened probably shouldn't have come as a great surprise to me, as I had already seen other managers treated in a similar way. Another error I have just corrected in my 1992 list was to add a ## to indicate that my number one of the year was also a record of the month - and, in this instance, quite a suitably "mournful" one for the month in which I found out I was finished! (And the
flute-only version also on the single, perhaps even more so, helped it to reach number one later in the year, in the month I actually left!)
Thanks to everyone for the comments on the yearly charts - they seem more popular than the previous more ad-hoc bonus features (hits by act, highest climbers etc), so I plan to continue them to cover more years in the (mid-)months ahead, to add to those already covered (1999, 1989, 2002, 1981 and 1992). Which one will be next.....?
