In a recent interview while promoting her debut in Broadway's In the Heights, she briefly mentioned that after Broadway she'd like to take a brief vacation then hit the studio. She's aiming for an early 2011 release.

To be fair, Battlefield was from from a flop - at least critically. It may have flopped commercially but it really was a great Pop album. But, I have to agree with you with the Urban direction. That just may be where the money is for her.therealestMC wrote:She needs to go in a more Urban direction... What you're two talking about!! Battlefield (the Song) wasn't flop! but if you're talking about the album then ok,JSparksFan wrote:To be fair, Battlefield was from from a flop - at least critically. I was talking about the album, not the single, though both were great.naughty wrote:What you're two talking about!! I loved Battlefield "the album" more than her debut, so I hope she keeps some of the same sound.
I agree, to a certain extent. I don't think her second album didn't sell because it wasn't good. I jus think that the second single (S.O.S.) may have killed the album. However, the label should've released a third single as they had such great tracks to choose from. It frustrates me sometimes.discoloser wrote:If she keeps it similar to her second album, it wont sell. lol
She just needs to pull off another string of rhythmic/pop/R&B crossovers like she did with the first album. "Battlefield" (the song) was a big hit but Jordin is one of those artists that need more than one top ten single to pull off a hit album.therealestMC wrote:I was talking about the album and I do think it's good but I think she should take try the urban route this time.
Average Girl is another leaked track that I love. But I think she should do more songs like Definition. I could definitely see that song as a hit single.RaFanatic wrote:So far leaked tracks are: Die Tryin',Definition and Superhero preview
I agree with this post. I loved her second album...never paid much attention to her debut. she is just always going to be considered a pop artist but she could do more songs with urban/R&B influence.abi wrote:Agreed with you guys, some reviews for the album said that there were lack of R&B elements from the album.
All the R&B songs from 'Battlefield' are great: 'It Takes More', 'Don't Let It Go To Your Head', 'Watch You Go' + 'Postcard'!
But honestly, the only song from her that really attracts Urban audience is 'No Air' - and mainly because of Chris Brown. She's already recognized as a Pop singer since the beginning of American Idol. Imagine if Beyonce or Alicia Keys sings 'Tattoo', it would've gone to the top 20 R&B Chart.
Full Interview: http://www.beatweek.com/coverstory/6795 ... interview/I’m open to everything. I was thinking maybe a little bit more of the R&B flavor than I kind of have. I think people categorize me as pop R&B, so I want to try maybe a little bit more of that. Maybe a little bit more urban. It would be really cool, I mean I love the love songs and breakup songs, I know I love to do those. We’ll see. Maybe another duet, I just want to make sure that it’s amazing. I mean, with No Air and Art Of Love, it can’t just be an okay song, you know? So I want to make sure that it’s amazing, if that even happens. But yeah, maybe trying just a little bit of everything. I definitely want to have a hand in writing the songs, like I did with the last record. Just work with some great people and we’ll see what happens.
False. I think she looks and sounds stunning! I just know she's gonna kill it on broadway, and then when she's finished in November, she can focus on new album material. I'm super excited to see what's next for her!
