Florence Welch has announced that she is hoping to take more risks when she works on her second studio album.

The 23-year-old singer, who records under the name Florence and the Machine, revealed that the response to her debut disc Lungs and success of her recent live performances has encouraged her to change her attitude towards the industry.

Reflecting on her first year in the spotlight in an interview with the Daily Star, Welch explained: "[I've learned] that playing live is really what I love doing. I learned that the things I was afraid of, like releasing the album, are not that scary.

"When it comes to making the second album I will be a lot more confident and maybe more willing to take risks. Playing the album live has been a very positive experience."

Welch has previously indicated that she plans to start recording her new material in January.

They'll visit Poland this spring.

I hope we will have an opportunity to hear some new songs.

She's been in with Paul Epworth again and revealed the song titles Strangeness And Charm & Spectrum.

Spectrum would make a good album title following Lungs.

I'm ready for some new material from Florence.

I think she's been so overplayed lately I can't take hearing anything from Lungs for a long while, but if there's something new then I might be able to listen to her again!

I am in love with Lungs. The music is breath-taking, IMO its more so an experience than just a mere listening.
I have to see them live!

I like the title, but don't like the cover AT ALL.

I personally think this will struggle to live up the hype. It'll begin with good sales but will struggle after that :)

I agree with the points on the cover and title. The title really suits her, but that's an bad photo of her and the 'Ceremonials' font is awful.

I'm not sure whether her follow up will be a struggle or not. Giving 'What The Water Gave Me' such a low key release was mistake, hopefully she'll be able to perform somewhere and give the single a boost.

She definitely is relevant enough and has a big enough fanbase to have good sales at the start, but I guess it all depends on the follow up singles.

That cover!! She looks scary :( especially in the reflected side. Has anyone ever seen that movie Pet Semetary? She reminds me of the dead ghost zombie sister thing :(

Like the song titles though & the title, this could slay.

I don't mind the cover, the font kind of sucks though.
Hyped for this! It's come around quite quickly which makes me kind of worry about the material...

Stunning cover! :o I would kill for this.

Lungs is my best album of all-time, I wonder if this will better it... Also gutted that Strangeness & Charm didn't get a studio recording. :(

The other way around for me; I like the cover but I'm not feeling the title, though it must have some meaning behind it so it's fine.

Can't wait for this!

New song "Shake It Out" just released to itunes. Not sure if this is the 1st single, but if it is she has a huge hit on her hands. Thankfully miles ahead of What the water gave me (which sounded much better live).

Reminds me of Cher..don't ask why :o
