TLC: the best, most creative and outgoing R&B girlgroup ever in my opinion. Unfortunately, as we all know, their adventure came to an end when Lisa Lopes passed away in 2002. The album the group was working on, titled '3D', was still released months after Lisa's death, but with almost no promo the album didn't live up to the sales of 'CrazySexyCool' and 'Fanmail'.

A real shame, I've always had the feeling that there was much more life in TLC. That the group had much more to give. Thinking about that makes me really sad.

What's your favorite TLC album and single?

I actually quite liked that I Bet single, it was really different I thought. But their whole back catalogue is pretty great. I think the 3D album has some strong moments on, I really liked "Hey Hey Hey Hey" and "Turntables".

^ I agree - '3D' wasn't that bad at all, but it could've used more Left Eye. My favs are 'Hands Up', 'Damaged' and 'Turntables'. I also think 'Quicky' would've been a good single.

Compared to their other albums, '3D' is definitely their weakest moment though.

Totally agree with all of this.

3D was an excellent album, but it just paled in comparison to their previous albums - which is fair enough considering the epicness of Crazysexycool and Fanmail. "Damaged" is actually my favourite TLC song.

And I loved "I Bet" too - it was a great little uptempo track and really was a great addition to their singles collection. It's a shame it never became a hit.

Oh and sorry to be a pain but could someone please capitalise the "TLC" in the thread title? Thanks! :P

Yea it won't allow a title to be in full capitals, sadly.

How about "TLC (girl group)"? I'm pretty sure that should work, since it worked in the test forum. :)

TLC is the best 90s R&B girl group and younger people don't realise how huge they were. They were probably the biggest-selling R&B girl group of all time. Here is a comparison:
TLC 60m. records
Destiny's Child 40m. records
Supremes 50m records (although for a 60s act this means that they were bigger than TLC if you consider the market state at the time)
En Vogue 20m. records
Salt-N-Pepa 15m. records
SWV 15m records
Eternal 10m records

Their album "CrazySexyCool" is the best selling R&B album by a female group ever with sales of 15m worldwide and the third best-selling girl group album ever behind the two Spice Girls albums...

The Top 3 girlbands that I liked in the 1990s were:
1. Spice Girls
2. TLC
3. All Saints

I loved Destiny's Child's "Bills, Bills, Bills" but they were more dominant in the 2000s though.

These are not 90s sales I posted, they are total sales. TLC were bigger than Destiny's Child ever were with the same number of studio albums.

It's rare that a group has more than one classic album but Crazy Sexy Cool and Fanmail are just that. Those are two albums I clearly remember being released and everyone in school was talking about them.

I know, the quote was by mistake. I just want to clear this out because Destiny's Child are advertised often as the biggest R&B girl-group of all time when they were clearly not. For example I have seen figures of 50m-60m for them and when you read carefully it says including solo releases which is just not correct

TLC was so huge that they managed to get hit-after-hit albums despite having huge breaks between eras!

TLC 1990s Albums:
Ooooooohhh.... On the TLC Tip (February 25, 1992)
CrazySexyCool (November 15, 1994)
FanMail (February 23, 1999)

I can't believe they only had three albums in that decade!

OK i thought that Supremes figure was wrong (corrected now) but that's the one I found in an article lol. Destiny's Child did not sell 50m, that figure includes "Dangerously In Love"

They have sold more than 50 million CDs worldwide, including solo releases, their record company said.
