It was a pretty good opening episode. Set the scene of the new characters pretty well.

I just didn't quite get how the beginning of term (ie September) and the temperature is below freezing. A slip up I guess on the writers behalf.

Yeah...that did strike me as being a bit odd, too.

Great episode! Love the new characters already. But must we feel the need to slap everyone called Ruby? Grrrr.

Yeah I thought that too.
Still, I thought it was a great episode!
Is it really on again tonight?? :o :D

It did make me sort of miss school in a way though, since, this week, for the first time in about 14 years, I'm not going back to school!

When the blonde girl elbowed the new girl in the face during netball, was hilarious though. Its exactly the sort of thing I would've done if I was that age

I agree on all stated!

The thing is with Shed Productions at times, they don't really explain the absence of old characters very well, it kinda annoys me!

I did miss Eva Pope in the first episode I must admit and I will miss Denise Welch's comical moments too.

EDIT: I just realised Jo Lipsett isn't coming back either! :o Gutted about that!

Karen David who plays the "tart" Spanish teacher is a singer, she was in Mamma Mia!, Bombay Dreams and this is her recent single: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2pRdQatzSI

She's quite lovely. As is Lynzey Cocker who plays Jess - she's 23 so i don't feel so guilty saying that! She was in Wild Child the Emma Roberts film.

Ian Pulseton-Davies (her dad) is not only in Coronation Street he also played her dad in crime drama Conviction in 2004.

I really quite enjoyed it, another great actress as the headteacher - she seems very normal indeed and quite vulnerable which is a great, well portayed quality.

Loved the new boy, Ruth's brother (can't remember name), seems very decent.

SO glad Janiece is back! She is the new humour!

I don't get the temperature thing - it wasn't below freezing at school, it was below freezing, miles away, on the hilltops, very very late at night! Surely that's accurate?

There was something I remember thinking 'whaaat' though, possibly that Amy and Finn are just fine and dandy, nobody moved and they are both absolutely fine now..

Lovely episodes.

All I can say though is that I miss Eva Pope, SO much! :( She ran off with the ugliest man in TV!! Waterloo Road is a lesser programme without her. I do really like her replacement though

It doesn't seem likely that the temperature would hit freezing, even on an exposed, elevated moor like that one, particularly in the first days of September.

In September of last year, the minimum temperature reached anywhere in the UK was -1.2C, but that was both further north and at a much higher elevation (being way up in the highlands of Scotland), and came far later in the month - the 19th. In tonight's Mountain Area forecast on the Met Office website, for example, the freezing point is stated as "above the peaks/summits" for all areas, meaning that the temperatures will stay above freezing all over the UK.

Sarah & Ronan look like brother & sister :-?

Don't really care about the new characters at all.

Josh is probably gay.

That's all.

Looks like Josh fancies Finn not Lauren! Fittingly they've even given Josh a gayer image this series.

I like the new characters, Amanda Burton is a strong lead and Jess is hot as she was in Drop Dead Gorgeous. I like Shaniece being back - I think her, Tom and Grantley are now the only original cast members?

Did they write Steph, Jo and Kim out properly last series?? I think Steph is still going to make a few guest appearances though.

Another class episode this week! So glad that Waterloo Road has broached the subject of sexuality. I hope they run with the anti-gay Finn character, I think that could play out very well. I also hope they run with the struggling dad character for Tom, his persona needs a new dimension, as its started to bore me.

Karen Fisher is a brilliant headteacher, and I think once again, the head steals the show. Love her.

I think it was also great to see such a young character thinking their sexuality was a complete non-issue in Conor. Seems a sound character.

This is so bad I love it.
It's so unrealistic whilst trying to achieve gritty integrity its just funny I mean , a lad hates a new gay lad, kisses his best mate and comes out all in one episode. Whilst a husband finishes an affair, changes his mind, goes back to his mistress and then sees his wife the next day in school.

Plus the whole 'I slept with a teacher oops now my friend knows'

Its just ridiculous, fun to watch but really bad!

Another awesome episode.

I love how this series is dealing with its issues - I couldn't disagree more with the poster above, I find Waterloo Road to be very realistic, for the most part. I think there are a couple of holes in the writing, but other than that, its brilliantly written and acted.

Karen's character has such depth, I'm not sure that I like her more than I did Rachel Mason, but I certainly think that her character is going to be explored further as the series progresses, in a manor that Mason's wasn't.

I feel like I'm the only one watching this! :o

Best episode of the series so far for me! I was so touched by the scenes involving Karen and her son, and I hope that we'll see a blossoming romance between Jess and that nice guy (I forget his name). Also how funny was the Ronan scene!

Not sure it was my favourite but I've been loving it all to be fair. The Harry scenes were indeed very touching!
