Double albums are counted double in this list. Would be written at least in the lead.

Yes, Garth Brooks US Album Sales are huge. But,
he's meant very little outside of the USA & Canada.
He's had 3 Top 10 Albums in the UK, but none got
higher than No.2, ('In Pieces' - 1993). He's had
3 Top 10 Albums in Australia, only one of them
reached No.1 - 'In Pieces'. He's had 3 Top 10
Albums in Norway, of which only 'The Ultimate
Hits', (2007), was a No.1.

In the USA, he's the sold more Albums than
any Solo Artist - except Elvis Presley. And,
The Beatles are the only other Act to have
sold more Albums than him, there.

But, I'd say that about 95% of his Global Record
Sales are from North America. Never before has
any Music Act been so big there, but so small
everywhere else.....

I always thought one thing. The Country music resurrection outside US on the mainstream was largely due to Billy Ray Cyrus. I don't say it because i'm a his fan, but for his chart performances.

For example in UK. Before Some Gave All album (#9) and Achy Breaky Heart (#3), no one country music artist was back in top 10 (maybe also in Top 40).

In Norway, Some Gave All album ranked #5. Before this result, i can't find a better position for a country music album in this country.

In Australia, Achy Breaky Heart was the first ever single in any genre (yes, the first ever) to have a triple Platinum award, topping the chart for 7 consecutive weeks.

In Netherlands, Billy Ray spawned three top 40 hits (in top 30 exactly) and in New Zealand two top 10 hits.

I could go on, but it was just to let people know its importance in the resurrection of country music outside of the United States.

@zeus555: I actually can't believe how many copies Garth Brooks' sold.
I mean it would be huge if he's having several albums selling 5 mio. copies +-, but he managed to reach Diamond with nearly every of his albums and if not, than other very high certifications.
How was this possible if even Madonna or Michael Jackson, "only" have 2 respecive 1 Diamond album?

I talked about a resurrection of the country music outside US, not the born of the country music outside US :)

2012 should be an interesting year for country music. I'm sure Taylor will end up #1 again. The big question is will Carrie finally stop this downward spiral with each album released hopefuuly she'll pull 2 million again but I could see 1.5 million being a possibiity too.
