It seems quite certain that she could top 50k, maybe 60k in the UK. Sales often go up at the end of the week. And everyone remember that Friday is not just a big shopping day in the US, but everywhere. I think, in the long run, she can top her debut week at some point in the UK.jordi_89 wrote:Yoshie wrote:28.2k for Loud in today's UK midweeks.so yesterday it sold almost 11k more?
go Rihanna! i think it could end up selling a bit over 50k in the 2nd week
Wow! I didn't notice that! I'm pretty sure she's preparing her 6th new album to top the charts!zzmyth wrote:she has a #2, #3, #4 and #5 album!! lol its crazy...Lacan wrote:9 singles #1 on hot 100 and no album #1 on billboard 200?
Maybe not a No. 1 album... but 9 #1 singles and 3 consecutive platinum + albums, an album that has sold 9 million WW and a WW successful tour. If you look at Rihanna's career, she went from being a "one-hit wonder" to having a career which has followed an upward trajectory. Even RR was upward because it wasn't about the commercialism, but to be more established critically, and that, she did! Album debuts increase each time.Lacan wrote:9 singles #1 on hot 100 and no album #1 on billboard 200?
Are you crazy???ratedJJ wrote:THIS! Just one little thing: Raining men as a 5th singles, yes but only in the US. For Europe it should be California King bed. (i know its a cheesy and somehow generic ballad but Europe eats this stuff.)jordi_89 wrote:well, it sounds more like Sexy Bitch, than to Only Girl, but i get your point, and i also hope it's the 3rd single, Cheers would work better in March/April, and Raining Men in JulyratedJJ wrote:Omg confirm this as the third single already. I don't care if its similar to OG. Its **** LOUD. (Cheers isnt IMO) and look at Katy/Ke$ha they release equal singles all the time...and it workszzmyth wrote:S&M debuts at #4 in Norway!!! OMG!! (and its #1 on itunes so it'll probably climb more next week)
and What's My Name? debuted at #18
She didn't really beg, she just promoted that there was a discount!ChrisDamen wrote:I heard some funny rumors of her label discounting the single and Rihanna begged people to buy her music on facebook. Can someone clear this up?
Oh, alright. It's just that some people are complaining about it on Billboard lol. Someone called it payola.GetBack wrote:She didn't really beg, she just promoted that there was a discount!ChrisDamen wrote:I heard some funny rumors of her label discounting the single and Rihanna begged people to buy her music on facebook. That's not payola! Every artist has reduced both albums and singles at various time, over holidays, during Thanksgiving week, etc. This is nothing new and not something Rihanna ONLY does. The industry does it. So, she did it and it worked!ChrisDamen wrote:Oh, alright. It's just that some people are complaining about it on Billboard lol. Oh, ok lol. By the way I never typed anything bad, it was just something I saw people discussing on Billboard. That's not payola! With that said, I want a wise marketing strategy and price-reduction for the entire holiday season! Let's push the album units like we did to get the singles to No. 1!!!
Beyonce has 5 #1 singles.The47thbelmon wrote:We should update the list...
The Beatles (20)
Mariah Carey (18)
Elvis Presley (17) (Pre-Hot 100 charts and Hot 100)
Michael Jackson (13)
Madonna (12)
The Supremes (12)
Whitney Houston (11)
Janet Jackson (10)
Stevie Wonder (10)
Bee Gees (9)
Elton John (9)
Usher (9)
Rihanna (9)
She also would tie up with Beyoncé, who had four #1s with Destiny's Child and five as a solo singer. Although they never count them together for the official lists.
