I think you'll soon realize (if you haven't already), that most of the posters on this forum and even in this thread, are COMPLETELY bias towards their favourite artists, especially U2 fans. These same people will flat out deny compelling evidence clearly showing how and why they're wrong.
The only other thing I have to say, is that this is will be THE last post on this forum I'll be making. This is simply because the NAZI moderator, named SholasBoy, deleted one of my last posts in this thread, when all I did was call Mulvanaghty a **** asshole and a liar - which he is and I've done more than PROVEN that.
Also, a very interesting thread here:Found another interesting quote:
Moggio: "ANYONE who thinks U2 will gross more than $600 million on their 360 tour (based on 90-100 shows AND ONLY because of strategic scheduling), is completely out to lunch."
Well, lets go get some lunch because U2 have already grossed $519 million and once they hit 100 shows, they should be at roughly $650-675 million. Not to mention that he always posted a total show number around 100 because he clearly felt that there was not enough demand for U2 to play more shows then that given their 360 touring set up. So far, there are 110 shows schedules and there are rumors of up to 10-15 more.
Whats really funny about his post is that even if U2 ONLY grossed 600 million, that would still be 6 million per show, which would be the highest per show average in history.
When all is said and done, U2 will own the highest grossing tour, highest grossing tour adjusted for inflation, highest average per show gross, highest average per show gross adjusted for inflation, most attended tour and highest average attendance per show (large scale tour). Some how though, Moggio will try and spin the FACTS and say that even though U2 own all those records (by a wide margin mind you) they still aren't the biggest draw because....blah....blah...blah....
If you look back through his posts over the past few years, he writes that U2 aren't the biggest draw and that the Stones, Madonna, Pick Floyd (dont exist) are bigger. The odd thing is, while THAT message has been consistent, he has changed his predictions for the tour gross for 360.
So, he initial thought U2 360 would gross $450 million and that this is why U2 is not the biggest draw.
Then he thought U2 360 would gross $600 million and that this is why U2 is not the biggest draw (so apparently a 33% increase in total gross didn't impress him).
Then he thought U2 360 would gross no more then $700 million and that is why U2 is not the biggest draw (again, a 56% higher gross than he thought they were capable of still didn't impress him).
Then he thought U2 360 would gross no more then $750 million and that is why U2 is not the biggest draw (now 67% higher still doesn't impress...lol)
Unfortunately, he has left the message board but not it appears that U2, should they add the strongly rumored 10-15 date final leg) would gross close to $850 million. Some how though I feel he would still not be impressed by the fact that he severely underestimated U2's world wide demand.
The thing is, if you asked me three years ago, I would have said that U2 would gross $450-$500 million TOPS (just like he did). However, like most non-biased people, I can admit that my expectations were blown away by what U2 have accomplished. I never thought they would be able to play to as many people all over the world as they have!
Well, if U2 adds 10 or 12 shows in Europe in 2011 to finish out the tour, it will easily gross $800 million! Also, I NEVER said that even if the 360 tour grosses $1 Billion that it wouldn’t top The Stones. If it grossed that, of course it would. If it grossed $800 million, it would too.
Well reading through some of the links provided and this thread I can't even say he was consistent about the biggest draw. It seems to have started with Madonna, then it went to AC/DC, then it went to the Stones and it seems to now be with Pink Floyd. Either he felt they are/were all bigger draws or U2 kept moving up his listMulvanaghty wrote:MOGGIO,Moggio wrote:nucleardolphin,

Can you imagine if u2 had played 80 shows last year they would have blew Bon jovi out of the water in fact even If they played 40 shows half what Bon jovi did then u2 would have out grossed and played to more peoplejkkdark wrote:Don't try to re-write the history.
Bon Jovi was the top touring act of 2010
Well, even if that were technically so, which it now it appears it wasn't, its only because U2 played relatively few shows during the year do to Bono's back injury.jkkdark wrote:Don't try to re-write the history.
Bon Jovi was the top touring act of 2010
U2 360° Tour (2009-2011) will gross MORE than Lost Highway, The Circle, Bon Jovi Live 2011 (2008 – 2011) COMBINED.
U2 360° Tour in Europe (2009-2010) grossed MORE than Have A Nice Day Tour and the Lost Highway Tour in Europe (2006 – 2008) COMBINED.
+ I'm sure that once we can add the 2011 boxscores, they still would not be able to outgross U2 360° in Europe with three tours combined within 5 years
Since 2005, U2 played stadiums in Europe 3x (2005, 2009, 2010 and maybe 2011), Bon Jovi also 3x (2006, 2008, 2011) – Bon Jovi does NOT tour Europe more than U2.
Since 2005, U2 played MASSIVE Stadium shows in Latin America 2x (2006, 2011), Bon Jovi played stadiums ONCE (2010) - Bon Jovi does NOT tour Latin America more than U2.
Since 2005, U2 played MASSIVE stadium shows in Australia/NZ 2x (2006, 2010), Bon Jovi 3 ARENA shows and 2 SMALL stadium shows in 2008 and stadiums in 2010 - Bon Jovi does NOT tour Australia/NZ more than U2.
The only market where Bon Jovi tours frequently is the US, but that’s on an arena level anyway.
+ U2 played MASSIVE stadium shows NATIONWIDE 2x (2009, 2011), Bon Jovi can't do that.
There is absolutely NO DOUBT about the fact that Bon Jovi is NOT as successful as U2, Madonna and The Rolling Stones.
Bon Jovi a very good band. Not better than U2, but their instrumentalists are all more capable than U2's, without any doubt. That is something. They are a bit ordinary at times, but they are good for what they do.Alex2006 wrote:Sure with such a band!jkkdark wrote:The fans are tired probably.
jkkdark wrote:After the hiatus Bon Jovi will be in high demand and the next tour will be a monster success, in the same level as the "U2 360° Tour" and "A Bigger Bang Tour".
Bon Jovi DOES NOT play the same markets every year. They skip markets each time they tour, so the whole idea that the "Fans are getting tired from constant touring" is a false one.jkkdark wrote:U2 is currently selling more tickets because they only had 3 tours since 2000.
While Bon Jovi toured every year, except 2004. The fans are tired probably.
After the hiatus Bon Jovi will be in high demand and the next tour will be a monster success, in the same level as the "U2 360° Tour" and "A Bigger Bang Tour".
Thats what MOGGIO told everyone. The real reason he left was because he could no longer defend his claims about U2, the Rolling Stones, and Madonna. With U2 now being able to approach the $800 million mark in gross, that figure is more than all of Madonna's past four tours combined. So his claim that Madonna is the hottest concert attraction can no longer hold up even with his past excuses.HUR wrote:I hope Moggio gets back, to be honest. No, the argument is that they are the largest touring act and there really is no argument from what I can see, at present they are.The arguments are invalid.
Clearly some of you are huge U2 fans and think they are bigger than Bon Jovi, The Rolling Stones, Zeppelin, Queen, etc, no matter what anyone says.
Were just looking at the factual statistics which show that the 360 tour will end up having a gross that is several times greater than anything Bon Jovi has ever done.jkkdark wrote:The arguments are invalid.
