I think sending in an established act is a great idea too. Other countries send in artists that are well known in their respective territories all the time, which is probably why they do so well regardless of what we in the UK may think of the actual music/performances.

I've always thought the UK should just take a risk and enter an established act, but unfortunately no-one's been brave enough to step forward until now.

I still don't think we'll win - but it can't be any worse than last year's entry!

Anastacia has written/collaborated with them, it was on Twitter! Not sure what to feel about this, it could be an interesting collab! Blue just aren't to my taste, Anastacia is always best when she's on her own.

But Anastacia doesn't like to be left outside alone.

Press Association wrote:Blue Eurovision bid 'is insanity'

Blue's decision to represent the UK at this year's Eurovision Song Contest has been described by their former manager as"reckless insanity".

The four piece will perform the self-written song I Can at the annual competition, which will take place in May in Dusseldorf, Germany.

It is the first-time since 1997 that the UK has opted for an established act to represent the country at the event. On that occasion Katrina And The Waves triumphed with Love Shine A Light.

But Blue's former manager Daniel Glatman described the decision to enter the group as "reckless insanity".

He said: "They will have to win. Anything less and their reputation would be in tatters. It is the equivalent of Lewis Hamilton entering a go-kart race - he will be the strong favourite but there is also the possibility he could lose. So why risk it?"

Bookies suggested the UK entry stands only a slim chance of victory. William Hill list Blue as 25/1 outsiders.

Formed in 2000, Blue had a two-year hiatus before reforming in 2009. Over their decade long-career, the boy band has sold more than 13 million records, winning two Brit awards in the process.

A documentary following the four members of the band - Antony Costa, Duncan James, Lee Ryan and Simon Webbe - as they prepare for Eurovision is due to be filmed in the coming weeks and will be aired in April.

Announcing their Eurovision nod, Duncan said: "We're celebrating our 10 years together in 2011, so when the BBC approached us it seemed a great way to mark the occasion and also to be part of something which is still a British institution."

Simon added: "I've always wanted to represent my country, so this is a truly exciting experience for Blue."

Unless you men that it hurt the credibility of critically acclaimed superstars like Jemini and Scooch...

I think sending Blue is a great decision and I hope it pays off.

Anastacia and Blue? :o Can't wait to hear that, should be interesting!

I'm afraid "I Can" will leak while I'm at my Dad's house, and I won't be able to download it and listen to it over and over

But with your dialup, it will take hours to download the leak anyway!!!

(We really shouldn't be talking about Blue leaking, given Antony Costa's recent behaviour)

BLUE BITS ON SHOW

COMEBACK boys Blue are doing a gay naked photoshoot to prove they more than measure up to McFly.

The four lads are back with insanely catchy Eurovision entry I Can – and they’re prepared to bare all if it helps them avoid the dreaded “nil points”.

Hunky bi-guy Duncan told me: “We are getting our kit off for Attitude magazine like the McFly boys did.

“I’m up for showing everything off. I’m happy enough about the size of my manhood.”

Even better news for fans, the Blue boys are back for good. Simon said: “We always planned to come back for our tenth year anniversary. We’re thinking at least three more albums and we can’t wait to tour.”

Blue hope Eurovision entry will not be 'career suicide'

Neil Mockford, FilmMagic
Daz Sampson, Jessica Garlick, James Fox, Javine Hylton, Josh Dubovie, Andy Abraham. Ring any bells? They're all people who have taken part in Eurovision Song Contest for the UK in recent years.

They also call into question reunited boy band Blue's claims that taking part in Eurovision will not be career suicide.

Simon Webbe said (via BBC): "We don't see this as career suicide even if a lot of people will see it that way. It's a great way to show we are a live group and we are back after 10 years."

Duncan James said: "We felt quite privileged to be asked. How many opportunities do you get to represent your country?"

The song is called 'I Can,' and features the potentially embarrassing line "I've never lost anything quite like this."

The boys will perform it in public for the first time on 'The Graham Norton Show' on Friday night (11 March), as part of the preparations for the event itself, which takes place on 14 May in Dusseldorf, Germany.

Blue are hoping to be the first UK act to win since Katrina And The Waves conquered all in 1997.

Blue will be competing with Jedward at Eurovision, as the Grimes twins are representing Ireland.

The UK came last in 2003, 2008 and 2010.

James said: "People always say the UK aren't particularly liked in Europe and we don't get the points, but they're trying to change the block voting so it becomes less political."

Lee Ryan disagrees, arguing that the reason for the UK's poor performance is much simpler: "It's nothing to do with being English. It's because we haven't put a good song in for a long time."

Blue have just revealed they are working with Grenade hitmaker Bruno Mars on their forthcoming album, their first in eight years. "We've been working with Bruno Mars on a song called Black And Blue,” Lee Ryan told Digital Spy. “He's sending his parts over from a demo we recorded a while ago. It's got some haunting notes on the chorus."

The four-piece has also been writing with Ne-Yo, the singer said. Blue’s comeback album is expected in the summer.

I'm sorry but Dunc is easily the hottest member of the band. But then again, I've loved him for years and years as some of the veteran UKMIXers will know

Blue star Lee Ryan says he wants to appear in a porn film.

The outspoken singer, who is currently promoting Blue's Eurovision single 'I Can' told Closer Magazine he would be a "great" person to be cast in a dirty flick.

"I'd love to do porn. I would! I think I'd be great. I'd be brilliant.

"I wouldn't stop though, that's the hard thing about being a porn star."

Lee, who has written his own film script, also tells Closer Magazine that his own love life has been a disaster: "There's lots to be jealous of in this industry - we're surrounded by beautiful women.

"I've been with people in the industry and not - and they both suck.

"It's just I haven't had one great relationship - every relationship I've had has been s**t."

'I Can' is out now.

Lee Ryan is addicted to it, I'm pretty convinced. I'm sure he'll have no trouble finding co-stars! 500 girls offered their services to him in 2004.
