DIVAS DIVINE: DESTINY'S CHILD

Destiny's Child is an R&B girl group based in Houston, Texas. Originally comprising of childhood friends Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland, LaTavia Roberson and LeToya Luckett, the group managed to undergo line-up changes until they eventually settled with Knowles, Rowland, and Michelle Williams (who joined the group in 2000) until their split in 2005.

The group released their self-titled debut album in 1998, which included the U.S. R&B #1 hit "No, No, No Part 2" featuring Wyclef Jean. With the release of their sophomore album, The Writings on the Wall, a year later, they eventually managed to achieve mainstream commercial success, spawning hits like "Bills, Bills, Bills", "Jumpin' Jumpin'", and the Grammy Award-winning song, "Say My Name". In 2001, they released their third album, Survivor, which catapulted their superstar status into greater heights, with hit singles such as "Survivor", "Bootylicious" and "Independent Women Part I" topping charts all over the world. After being on hiatus for each member to be able to pursue solo career ventures, the group returned in 2004 and released their final studio album Destiny Fulfilled, which featured the hits "Lose My Breath", "Cater 2 U" and "Soldier". A year later, they released #1's, a greatest-hits compilation album featuring all of their hit singles, before their official disbandment in that same year.

I have decided to rank all my favorite Destiny's Child songs and present it here. I've been a huge fan of them since 1999 (with the release of "Bills, Bills, Bills" to be exact) and have followed their career (as well as their solo careers) since then. I hope you guys enjoy the list as I countdown sixty of their best tracks!
:D

DIVAS DIVINE: The Top 60 Songs of Destiny's Child
Due to insistent public demand (hahahaha!), I now begin my Destiny's Child countdown. Don't forget to vote (in the poll above) for the song you think will be #1 in my list. Let's start with the first five.

Image
60. STAY
This is one of the ballads from The Writing's on the Wall, I think it's an okay track, Darryl Simmons wrote better songs for other R&B artists during this time. I used to skip it a lot when I first heard the album, but I think it's safe to occupy the lowest spot in my countdown.

Image
59. I KNOW
This song was included in the soundtrack of The Fighting Temptations, it's a gospel/inspirational song which sounds like it can be part of Kelly's Simply Deep album. I love the acoustic elements in this track.

Image
58. WITH ME (featuring Jermaine Dupri)
When I first saw this video back in 1998, I thought that they were already in their thirties! The song is okay, but I think there were better tracks on the first album that could have been chosen as a single. The song peaked at #19 in the UK, which is not a bad chart performance considering that Destiny's Child was a new group at that time.

Image
57. IF
This song samples the amazing ballad "Inseparable", and showcases harmonious vocals from Beyoncé, Kelly and Michelle. It has a Diana Ross and the Supremes feel to it, especially when Kelly starts to speak in the song. This is one of the good throwback songs from the Destiny Fulfilled album.

Image
56. GET ON THE BUS (featuring Timbaland)
I think that this is another okay single, it sounded like the cheaper-sounding sister of Aaliyah's "Are You That Somebody?". The song was part of the Why Do Fools Fall in Love soundtrack, and I used to catch this video in MTV back in the day. The song was later included in international versions of The Writing's on the Wall.

Stay - cute album track.
I Know - great track.
With Me - their debut single in the U.K. Sassy.
If - vocally it's beautiful but a bit boring to listen to.
Get On The Bus - some really love this. I just think it's OK!

^Kelly.

Woooo for "Stay". It's a beautiful track but forgettable though. "Independent Women" FTW!

55. TELL ME
This is another ballad from the first album Destiny's Child. It's not their best from that album, but I like the musical arrangement for this track.

Image
54. APPLE PIE À LA MODE
I love this song. It's like a tongue twister with so many random, silly lyrics which follow a different pacing.

Image
53. NOW THAT SHE'S GONE
I liked this song from the very first time I heard it. It's one of the great ballads from The Writing's on the Wall. I wasn't able to listen to the first album when I first heard this so I didn't know which among the girls sang the first verse of the song. It's actually Kelly and Beyoncé who did the lead vocals here.

Image
52. SEXY DADDY
I feel like this is the "Jumpin' Jumpin'" of the Survivor album. It's a good uptempo but it lacks the punch and excitement of "Jumpin' Jumpin'". Also, I think Michelle's part here doesn't fit well with the song.

Image
51. DOT
This is one of those anthem-like songs from Destiny's Child. It's very similar to the themes of "Survivor" and "So Good" but with less lyrical value.

50. WHY YOU ACTIN'
This is a bonus track from the Destiny Fulfilled album. I listen to it, but it does feel bland at times as well.

Image
49. SHOW ME THE WAY
I really love the instrumental in this track, it made me love the verses afterwards. I think it would have been great if they had LL Cool J rapping in the song.

Image
48. GOSPEL MEDLEY: YOU'VE BEEN SO GOOD/NOW BEHOLD THE LAMB/JESUS LOVES ME/TOTAL PRAISE
I used to listen to this a lot in 2001, it has this calming, gospel vibe. I also love the harmonies they made on this track. I wished they sang more songs like this in the 8 Days of Christmas album.

Image
47. BIRTHDAY
"Birthday" is one of the more mature tracks in the Destiny's Child album. I love the Motown and jazz feel, the sound they were going for in this song was great. Kelly's vocals stand out in this song. I like how this song starts, it has a classic throwback vibe, and the song has a very sexy feel to it. I wish they came out with more songs like this one, I think it sounds better with each listen.

Image
46. PERFECT MAN
This was originally part of the Romeo Must Die soundtrack, and it was later added in the international editions of the Survivor album. I don't listen to the song that much, but the instrumental is very catchy.

54. APPLE PIE À LA MODE
The song is so random but at least it's enjoyable.

53. NOW THAT SHE'S GONE
I used to stan for this ballad. It's a bit bland though.

52. SEXY DADDY
Yeaaahhhhhhhh this song is so sexy. Kelly's verse >>>>>>>>>>>

51. DOT
I like this one too, kinda underrated.

The rests put me to sleep.

45. DANCE WITH ME
This is one of the many pop-dance-R&B tracks from Survivor. It's not a stand out but I still play it.

Image
44. THE STORY OF BEAUTY
The song is very tragic, it talks about a girl who was molested by her father. I don't get why it's done in an upbeat number, I like the melodies though.

Image
43. OUTRO (AMAZING GRACE... DEDICATED TO ANDRETTA TILLMAN)
I just love the vocal harmonies of the original four members, they really blend well. It's very evident in their rendition of "Amazing Grace". I only don't like the part where LaTavia says "What 'chu say, girl?" It ruins the seriousness and solemnity of the song in my opinion.

Image
42. 2 STEP
I only discovered this track sometime in 2011, it's one of the bonus tracks from Destiny Fulfilled. It's nothing spectacular but I like listening to it at times.

Image
41. FANCY
This is the intro song in the Destiny's Child website. I used to fancy this song a lot, but it's not my favorite anymore. It's one of those "I'm so annoyed with this girl" kind of anthem.

I really like the intro of 'Now That She's Gone'
Janet Jackson the only artist in history to be nominated for a Grammy in Pop, Rock, Dance, R&B, Rap, Album of the Year & Best Video.

40. SWEET SIXTEEN
I just love the guitar instrumental of this song. Latavia's vocals in the beginning are so great! I miss the original line-up.

Image
39. THROUGH WITH LOVE
This song is filled with so much angst. It has this gospel-like lyrics at the end which speak about finding a new love, this time in God. I wish they included more and fuller choir parts, I think it would have worked so much better.

Image
38. HAPPY FACE
I used to love this song back in the day. It's so positive and uplifting. It has this summery vibe as well.

Image
37. TEMPTATION
The song isn't in my top favorites from the sophomore effort, but I still give this a couple of spins here and there.

Image
36. GIRL
"Girl" is probably one of my least favorite singles from Destiny's Child. I think it's not a totally bad song, but it's not strong enough to be a single.
