Hi Ukmixers and friends!

Since a long time ago I intend to post my personal charts here, because I love your topics and I already got many great suggestions from you.

I mean to suggest to you new songs, albums and artists, so I hope you enjoy it too! :D

Finally!! I was hoping that you'd start posting your chart here too. Let's see...

Obviously, I'm deeply in love with 85 % of your chart. I'm still not that satisfied with Brun's new album, These Days sounds quite good though.

Awesome chart! 8-)

KevinScream wrote:OCTOBER 2011
SOME NOTES:

+ For the fourth time this year, the KING is #1! Besides, two of his songs made the Top 10: 'Who Is It' and 'Gone Too Soon', both from [probably] the best album ever released - Dangerous (1991). More #1's may come until the end of the year, since a brand-new album of remixes - IMMORTAL - will be released in november 21th.

+ Lana Del Rey is the 'hot shot debut' of the month - and she doesn't have released a proper studio album yet! Her hits 'Blue Jeans' and 'Video Games' are #1 and #3, respectively, plus 'Kinda Outta Luck', an unreleased song, is #2. 'Video Games (Jamie Woon Remix)' is #7, making the very first apparition of a remixed track in the Top 10.

+ Tori Amos keeps growing and growing... and, for the first time this year, made a Top 3 (could be #2 if this chart had another week). Her Night Of Hunters (2011) album is simply great! It's an acoustic/classical work that everyone should be looking for - a great and unexpected comeback. My current favourites are 'Your Ghost', 'Night Of Hunters' and 'Snowblind'.

+ Ane Brun is doing quite well since her debut last month. I'm definitely in love with her last album, It All Starts With One (2011), and it gets even better with each listen.

+ Kate Bush has one of the more stable chart-runs in my lists and did a Top 5 once again... you know, I can't get enough of this woman's works! Her brand-new single, 'Wild Man', is #5 as well. A great preview of her upcoming 50 Words for Snow for sure.

+ After several times at the top, my beloved Icelandic Queen Björk fell some positions. The point is that I didn't lose interest, but stopped listening to her new songs until I got my "Biophilia" Manual, last week. So wait for a Top 3 position next month! The book's explanations are phenomenal, I love to discover her intentions for each song.

+ Little Boots is the second highest debut. I never really cared about her until now, despite all MTV adverts years ago. Her songs are really catchy and I can't take 'Mathematics' and 'Meddle" out of my head.

+ Depeche Mode is an amazing discover I made this year. Their album Some Great Reward (1984) is a grower and includes lots of memorable songs, especially the fantastic 'Blasphemous Rumours'. It's the second time they appear in my charts.

+ Maria Mena's Viktoria (2011) is another bet for my ranking of best albums of the year. It's very good, but not as great as her last one - Cause And Effect (2008). 'Habits' is my favourite song by far.

+ Finally... Dead Can Dance. It is one of the best groups of all time, since they have created the Ethereal genre as we know. Most plays of this month comes from 'Echolalia' and 'Dawn of the Iconoclast', songs that are just apart of everything in music nowadays.

Will look more closer on this later! ;)

A lot of Lana Del Rey here! I need to hear that other track, Blue Jeans. Video Games debuted at #3 on my chart, and fell out the week after. Don't know why though, it just.. disappeared.

ARTISTS

1. Michael Jackson... you know how I feel already, sorry, but I just wanted to irritate you! 8-)

2. Lana Del Rey... I wrote about her in a post above. She's cute and all, I was expecting VG to smash ultra hard on my chart, but then I just lost interest with all the new images of her and all the hype.

3. Tori Amos... YEAH!! The album is something extra, I agree with what you said about her new album, something new always unravels. Mysterious and intimate. Strong "comeback" indeed. I wish you were with me in Copenhagen, you would've loved her live!

4. Ane Brun... I've tried the new album 2-3 more times since we last spoke. But... nothing. Do You Remember is, however, smashing!!

5. Kate Bush... my #1 at the moment. Her discography is unbeliviababablelele!!! :o I've purchased all her iTunes stuff and added rarities. Shuffling through all of her music feels so unique, everything sounds so different from the other. Activates emotions and fantasy.

6. Björk... steady growing closer to Biophilia. Not her strongest effort, but I have great respect for what she have done on that album. They need to be heard seperately, I guess. Virus (Sweet Charm Remix)!

7. Little Boots... booo!!!!!!!!! :P

8. Depeche Mode... classic epicness!

9. Maria Mena... unfamiliar with this person! :)

10. Dead Can Dance... I've only heard a few tracks, randomly, I guess I'll have to try on of those albums you wrote on! :)

SONGS

5. Wild Man - I feel that this is becoming one of my favourite Bush tracks. I feel like such a hipster when listening to it. Dancing, jamming, forming pictures in my head of this journey through the Himalaya, searching for the Yeti - wanting to protect him. It's such a beautiful story. Feels like I'm a child, sitting next to my mother, reading books for me. It's so beautiful how she provokes the fantasy. Whispering Queen!

Her first album maybe is the best in my music collection. Love all songs from her debut, but best tracks: Mathematics  , Remedy, Earthquake.

Lost interest after hype? Uhmmm... "Don't swim against the current"... Lana Del Rey will rock in 2012!

You should try "Blue Jeans", since it's even better than "Video Games".

She is your #1 and always have been. P.S.: I've never understood "And Dream Of Sheep" as I do now... It's one of most beautiful songs ever written, an addiction.

Listen to 'Biophilia' bonus disc (live versions) and read the Manual. They're just mind blowing. :D

Wow nice charts!! :o I've had a flick through and am so proud to see Nina charting, hope to see more of her in your listening cycle someday! These 3 albums are my faves from Nina at present:

Nunsexmonkrock
Fearless
In Ekstasy

All epic in their own way.

Kate Bush is wonderful, Bjork is amazing and Ane Brun's album has been in my ears these past few days, very nice voice she has, her vocal at the end of These Days! :o 8-) Also happy to see Tori and Michael getting some love!! :D

Thanks a lot! As you've seen, you had some influence in my last charts... "In Ekstasy" is my favourite one by far. I love our Mother Of Punk!! :D

"Fearless" was really sucessful in Brazil, once her Rock In Rio 1985 performance became a classic. You should watch this!

MJ is my ultimate definition of music, and he will ever be. I love him, so I'm really glad you like his songs. :D

On Ane Brun's "It All Starts With One", well, it's one of my favourite albums of the year!

SOME NOTES:

+ Kate Bush topped my songs chart for the third time, once again with a song from her The Sensual World (1989) album: 'Walk Straight Down The Middle'. It's one of her most underrated songs and I just discovered this amazing piece of music recently. It's about fear and indecision/hesitation (we're at the "middle of it"), the time when we need to figure out what's really around us and move on. I love its lyrics... He thought he was gonna die, but he didn’t. She thought she just couldn’t cope, but she did. We thought it would be so hard, but it wasn’t… it wasn’t easy, though! P.S.: I can't wait for 50 Words For Snow (2011)!

+ Tori Amos is still rising. I love Night Of Hunters (2011) and I think is one of the best albums released in the last years. Despite it didn't chart, 'Your Ghost' is my favourite song on the album.

+ Michael Jackson has big chances for another #1 next month! I love Immortal (2011) and the new mixes... e.g., 'They Don't Care About Us (Immortal Version)' is one my most-played songs of november - after just a week.

+ Not as I expected, Björk didn't make the Top 3 this month. Biophilia (2011) is a mindblowing experience and probably the best album of 2011. "Sonnets / Unrealities XI", from my favourite Björk's album, Medúlla (2004), got a #3, though.

+ My favourite electronic band is back on the charts! Goldfrapp made a Top 5, mostly because I re-discovered how much I love Black Cherry (2003) some weeks ago.

+ A big but expected drop for Lana Del Rey. Can't get enough of her songs... so her proper debut album - Born To Die (2012) - will probably dominate my charts in January/February 2012.

+ Ane Brun made a Top 10 for the third time. Big results for such a new discover (plus I still don't know her discography, just her last album).

+ Alice Gold is a discover I made recently. Debut album is a grower, hope she gets some commercial success next time.

+ Antony and the Johnsons... So sad, so beautiful. Lovely songs.

+ The Golden Filter's Syndromes EP (2011) is flawless. Great short-film and OST. A must-see.
