It was really hard so I had to make some of my decisions based on how many plays they had on itunes compared to other songs that were borderline on making the top 50!

50. Obsessed

A controversial start to my top 50 but I feel "Obsessed" deserves a place. The first of four tracks from Mimi's 12th album "Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel". Since this dropped in 2009, I have played it so many times. It never fails to get me in the mood to go out! I love the heavy bass and the autotune works on this song. I think it a pure fire banger and one of my favourite Mariah songs of late. It was the saving grace of the "Memoirs" era and her last big hit. It is the best produced track on the album and the lyrics are some of the wittiest and catchy she has written post "The Emancipation of Mimi". My guilty pleasure!

Image
49. Thanx 4 Nothin'

The best Jermaine Dupri produced track on "E=MC²". I feel everyone can relate to the lyrics of this song!! The first verse completely encapsulated how I felt about a person I thought I was close to. This for me was another one of the single worthy tracks from this album. She absolutely kills the vocal on this track. It is so simple but so heartfelt at the same time. One of the best tracks from an album that still disappoints me!

Image
48. It's A Wrap

If Mariah had sang more songs from "Memoirs..." like she sang "It's A Wrap" then the album would have been so much better. Most definitely the cleanest and straightest vocal performance on the album. This song just sounds out of place on the album because it is so different and a refreshing break from all the The-Dream and Tricky finger snaps! She really evoked in me, the same atmosphere and presence in the lyrics that she created on the "Butterfly" track "Babydoll" and "It's A Wrap" was one of the few real throw back moments on the album.

Image
47. Someday

I really don't understand why Mariah hates "Someday" so much! This was one of the first songs where I actually went wow to her whistle when I was discovering her and I started playing it over and over again! It was really cool to hear her do a similar type whistle on "Inseparable" all those years later! The video is just so much fun and epitomises the Mariah of the early years with the curls and denim and I also love the extended remixed versions. I love the guitar breakdown before the outro!! Just a great track that I would love her to embrace again.

Image
46. Betcha Gon' Know (The Prologue)

The picture she paints with the lyrics of this song are just so vivid and evocative and it is a brilliant lead track to the album. It is proof of what an amazing lyricist she can be when she wants to be. This gets the 46th position in my countdown because it is one of the most original and creative songs she has done since the 90's and it's a shame it never saw the light of day. It shows the potential that was there in the collaborations of Mariah and The-Dream and Tricky Stewart. It's just a shame the diversity and originality of this track weren't contained in too many more tracks from "Memoirs..."

Image
45. Crybaby

The first of three tracks from "Rainbow". I just adore the sexy and smooth beat and the sensual vocals!! Velvety is one word which I would describe this song! I could play it over and over again! Snoop's rap just fits so perfectly and seamlessly into the song! Love the ad-libs at the end!

Image
44. Lead The Way

The only track to make my top 50 from "Glitter". This song contains one of Mariah's biggest vocal performances and for that it makes my list! The melody is beautiful and it is also special because it is the last song from the Walter-Mariah collaborations to make one of Mimi's album! It shows off "The Voice" perfectly!!

Image
43. Love Takes Time

The bridge of this song is just epic!! It was very commercial sounding and radio friendly and really solidified herself as an adult contemporary balladeer, as least for those first number of years. I adore the live performances of the song!! Another song I would love her to recognise again.

Image
42. Just To Hold You Once Again

This song has always given me a sort of a haunting feeling!! One of the few standout's from "Music Box" for me! I just love the bridge of this song as well and the background vocals just add so much to the song. Her vocals are so powerful! The perfect tone and power. Classic Mariah!

Image
41. I'll Be There

Just a flawless vocal by both Mariah and Trey and it is most definitely one of her best and most iconic covers. In fairness to her she can still do the song justice when she wants to nowadays.

Amazing start Éamon!

Obsessed: I love it too! 8-) Sometimes i feel I need Obsessed now!

Thanx 4 Nothin: This has been one of my favs from E=MC2 since i heard it!

It's a Wrap: Agree with everything you wrote. Love the champagne bottle sound at the start :P

Someday: One of my favs from the debut album. Love the lyrics so much!

Betcha Gon' Know: I wasn't sure about this track on the first listen! I like it now though.

Crybaby: I heard this so long ago *plays*. Love the vocals.

Lead The Way: The gem of Glitter. The vocals are so '90s Mariah the belting at the end is amazing!

Love Takes Time: I didn't like this track at all. Then I watched her Thanksgiving Special and I started to love it. :)

Just To Hold You Once Again: Interesting choice. I'm sure this wouldnt make my Top 50 but it is a great track.

I'll Be There: Love it!

Just to hold you once again is epic. i love the bridge too the second half is mindblowing.

Betcha is my fave track off Memoirs. The production is perfect. It has so much atmosphere.

lead the way is my favourite song off Glitter.

Obsessed was so different from what she did before.. so dark. I still play it alot.

I'll B There is one of her best covers. She made it her own. I slightly prefer her singing it with Boyz II Men's Wanya Morris.

Crybaby has a great video which I actually watched today <3

She looked so amazing performing this at George Lopez. It gains so much when she does it live.

someday is not really one of my favourites. But i love that it sound even greater on Unplugged than on MC.

Thanx 4 Nothing reminds me so much of 2008. Though it's far from my most played songs off EMC². It's cute.

I don't really like Just To Hold You Once Again...it's definitely not filler but they could've easily replaced it with Everything Fades Away and the album would've been that much better. God, EFA was such a waste...

I like Someday but I don't like the versions on the original Mariah Carey. I like the 12" one with the dance break and the Unplugged versions. I love the lyrics...

Thanx 4 Nothin' is my favorite song from E=MC2.

It's A Wrap is incredible. You can really feel the emotion build and build until the climax. Mariah did a really good job producing this...

Love Takes Time: How this song manages to be timeless and SOOO early '90s is beyond me. The bridge is friggin' legendary...even without that whistle, it's really hard to sing. For an adult contemporary song, it was extremely popular on R&B formats. So popular that it inspired people like Mary J. Blige to actually sing...

I love Crybaby so much...the verses, the choruses and the ending ad-libs are perfect. Like they compliment the song amazingly well. It was around this time when Mariah's low register (which has always been strong) started getting a lot more power.

After the original, Mariah's version of I'll Be There is classic...

Lead The Way speaks for itself. It vocally leads the way...one of Mariah's best vocal performances in the studio...

Betcha Gon Know is hot. If it was released, it would've torn up urban radio...it was the best opener since Honey. Yes, better than It's Like That.

Obsessed is good. It always sounded better on the radio when it sped up...

Overall, I think this is going to be my favorite list (besides mine of course). mimifan09 has good taste...

*stutters* I...I...I...I...NOOOOOOOO! Poor "Breakdown". *cries*

50. Obsessed

YES! I feel it is often overlooked, and not as loved as her other IDJ lead singles, but in all honesty, I think this is just as strong (and perhaps, stronger than "Touch My Body"). Very festive song.

49. Thanx 4 Nothin'

Meh.

48. It's A Wrap

I.Do.Not.Get.This.Song.
The stream-of-consciousness song works my nerves!

47. Someday

It's a very nice track, but not amazing.

46. Betcha Gon' Know (The Prologue)

The best song on "Memoirs...............".
You hit the nail on the head; the beauty of the song lies in the imagery.

45. Crybaby

It's a very nice song. I enjoy it often much.

44. Lead The Way

Do you feel like you've atoned for your Razzie Award?
I never cared about that stupid thing. It just gets annoying when eight years later, they're like, "The Glitter star, da-da-da." I'm like, "Yeah, you're current." There have been worse movies. And I'm not sticking up for that movie. 'Cause it wasn't my thing. I didn't create it. But I do think the soundtrack is good.
Poor Mariah, she'll never be allowed to forget "Glitter" and it's a shame the soundtrack is marred by that atrocity. And, I'm kind-of happy she sticks up for the soundtrack.

It's a very nice song - an amazing ballad.

43. Love Takes Time

It's a very nice track, but not amazing.

42. Just To Hold You Once Again

"I don't know..." it.

41. I'll Be There

Very nice song. And I don't care what anyone says - that performance at MJ's tribute/funeral was great. It was not bad AT all!
