Indonesian born singer Anggun is officially the 2012 French representative for the Baku Eurovision Song Contest as France 3 reported today. Anggun is 37 years old and became famous in France in 1997 with La neige au Sahara (Snow on the Sahara).

Marie Claire Mezzette, the Head of the Entertainment Department from France 3, said that the choice was based on the international popularity of the singer and the involvement of Aggun with several charity projects. Anggun herself said that she is honored to enter the contest representing a country with such mix of cultures and contrasting sounds.

I think it's a perfect way to promote her music in France and Europe, that's why she said "yes" to Eurovision. Hopefully, there will be some media coverage for the contest in Indonesia.
