Here it is! This year's countdown to UKMix's favourite Soul/R&B/Hip-Hop Album of 2011!

As per every year, the objective is simple:
Listen to your favourite albums of the year again from this year and rank them in order of how you like them. You can submit upto 20 albums. This doesn't mean you have to, you can submit only 5 if you wish, but 20 maximum.
Submitting 20 will get your #1 album 20 points, #2 19 points and so on.
If you don't want to submit 20 albums, thats fine.
If you submitted 7 (for example) then your #1 would only be worth 7 points.

You can also vote for your fave SONG from each album you vote for.

Voting has now been officially opened.
Voting will last a good couple of weeks but no closing date as yet.

Do not post your votes in this thread PM them to me. You can comment in here if you wish.

FAQ's

What is this countdown?
It's the Soul/R&B/Hip-Hop forums giant Album of the Year countdown for 2011! Members vote for their fave records of the year and we count them down till #1.

Can I nominate an album that isn't mentioned in the above post?
Yes, any album that is related to Soul/R&B/Hiphop can be nominated.
The above albums are just some of the most talked about albums released this year and are examples of what to vote for.

I voted for Cee Lo Green's The Lady Killer last year but he re-released it with Deluxe Edition this year. Can I vote for it again?
Just like in '10, re-releases will not be eligible for voting this year.
Those artists got their chance last year. Original '11 albums only.

What are the rules for Greatest Hits, Live editions & Compilations?
Best Of and Greatest Hits are eligible so long as they were specifically released this year.
Compilations (example: R&B Love Songs Vol 7) are not though. This is an artist based chart.
Live versions are not eligible either.

Can I read last year's countdown?
Yup, it's right here and includes the full Top 20 countdown. This year's countdown will be pretty much the same formula as it worked so well in previous years. If anyone has any objections to their name being in a post or their quote about an album being used, then PM me.

When will voting open?
I'm opening voting right from the go so start PMing! If theres an album that isn't eligible, I'll PM you back.

When will the chart be counted down?
The chart will start after Christmas but before New Year. No specific date set yet.

Do we only submit our fave 20 albums?
To spice the chart up a bit, you can post your fave song from each album too. This is not a necessity however, its just for fun and something to add to the countdown.
It's up to you!

Some more minor points:
You must have joined UKMix before December 2011 and have over 100 posts.
Keri Hilson & Bruno Mars' albums are eligible for voting THIS year as they were released in the UK in 2011. Lloyd ISN'T because his album is being released in the UK in 2012.

I thought someone would ask this sooner or later...
I'm not sure whether I should include it or not, it never got a UK release but all the singles did on iTunes.
Does anyone know if it's out next year or just staying as a bootleg? I wouldn't normally allow them.

I don't think Nostalgia,Ultra will be released as an album next year. F.O said if he releases next year, the record will have mostly new tracks(?)...

I don't think mixtapes or EP's etc should be allowed personally. It's "album" of the year, only real albums should be eligible IMO. I have my top 10 already but there is one more album I want to hear before I send my list.

J. Lo is Pop isn't it? I wouldn't class the music on that album as R&B.

Pitbull album is definitely not Urban. He is just rapping over Dance beats like BEP, LMFAO etc.

Ok, I'm going to allow J-Lo as she has a few votes so far and as nickf1 said, she appeared on the R&B Album chart. Adele no, but I would say that Scherzinger's album is quite R&Bish. So I'll allow that unless there's any serious objections?
I'll allow Pitbull but not LMFAO for the reason nickf1 stated too.

I think I'm gonna have to rule out Frank Ocean though as it's not a proper album!

& don't be so sure that Beyoncé has won! The boys were triumphant last year and both Kanye and Drake have serious chances this year!

Well I dunno where I stand with albums this year, off the top of my head, Joss Stone, Jason DeRulo and Rihanna have been pretty good, but I'm gonna have to do some more digging.

So can we vote for EPs? Trey Songz's new EP Inevitable was released in the UK in November 29th and it's totally a "brand new" EP, unlike Usher's Versus or Gaga's Fame Monster.

Anyway, Bieber's Christmas album is quite R&B/Soul too y'all, so don't forget to vote for him. *runs out of the thread*

I wish we could vote for Nostalgia, Ultra.....it was scheduled to be released as an EP, but I think the release got cancelled. I guess if we were allowed to vote for that, there'd be a whole load of mixtapes in the countdown though.

I'm gonna have real difficulty voting in this one!
