Grimes

Grimes is the alias of Claire Boucher, a Montreal-based, Vancouver native, artist. Grimes fuses contemporary instrumentation with classical vocal practices from around the world.

She recently released a split 12” with D’eon titled Darkbloom. In 2010 she released a cassette titled Geidi Primes on Arbutus and the LP Halfaxa.

The song is so good! I'm really addicted to Urban Twilight right now. I love how she mixes her 'fairy' voice with her deeper one in it.

If I were not so lazy with creating topics etc. I would've made this thread in spring 2011, mutilating it day after day after day!

As for today, I feel like I'm re-discovering the Halfaxa album. I'm really into "Hallways" (could not find a listening link)...

She is so good!!! A beautiful witch.

Hallways is one of my favourites, love the atmosphere with the drums, water & the vocal echoes/distortion, it gets so crazy a minute in.

I'm always playing Halfaxa & Darkbloom, I really need to listen to Geidi Primes, I've listened to it twice in full but can not really remember what my favourite tracks were...

I have actually been so crazy about Halfaxa that I have not wanted to play her debut album yet, because it would only fall in the shadows of the effect H. has had on me.

Blow? Yes!! She always blow me away! Insane innocence. Love her! I just realized today...

I bought a physical copy of Halfaxa back when it was released, and the digital version yesterday. It feels like the songs are completely new to me. I've listened to the album, but I think that my obsession with "My Sister..." made the other songs fall in shadows.

"ha ha ha ha" in different kind of ways? It's like a signature sound which I adore.

I love how my local radio station keeps supporting Grimes! They play either Genesis or Oblivion every so often. I couldn't resist turning up the volume to the latter and dance!
