The labels don't choose "how" the album is categorized. The RIAA does.

All double albums count twice if their current format is still a double disc set. This is why Saturday Night Fever isn't at 30xP ... had the label not made it a single disc then it would rank in as #1 all time. 15xP ain't bad though :P

Yes, the label chooses.

Shania Twain talked about how Up! should be certified as a single album. Her label chose to cerify it as a 2 cd album. It's 11xp.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers chose to certify their 2cd album Stadium Arcadium as 1 cd album. It's certified 2xp, not 4xp.

Are you sure its the label? Looking at Stadium Arcadium's certification date, could it be possible that it didn't reach the 1.5 mark at that point and just failed to reapply for a new certification?

I don't know, I would think any artist would want to bump their totals higher.

Yes, I am sure. Paul Grein commented on it in his Chart Watch blog.

The RHCP haven't even bothered to certify their newest album!

Not necessarily, as Shania actually verbally commented on it. She said herself it was one album, two versions and she thought it should be counted as one.
"Take A Bow"... Rihanna's ONLY ballad to go #1 on the Hot 100 (also topped the R&B Chart)... Great deed for her most epic ballad!!!

I am so happy her album certs are updated for all 3 albums!!! Now, we just need a platinum cert next year for the holiday collection.

Is the EP (BE) certified gold yet?
