Digital Spy wrote:Marcus Collins will release a cover of The White Stripes track 'Seven Nation Army' as his debut single.

The X Factor runner-up, who lost out to girlband Little Mix in the 2011 final, has apparently reworked the song into a pop track.

"I'm a huge fan of the original 'Seven Nation Army' and I hope people like my take on it," Collins told The Sun.

"I'm so happy to be releasing my debut album and can't wait for everyone to hear it."

Collins's version of 'Seven Nation Army' will be released on March 4, followed by his debut album on March 12.

"The music is really coming together. I've found my niche now, I've found exactly what it is that I want to do and it's looking good," he recently said of the upcoming record.

X Factor mentor Gary Barlow is executive producer of the album and Collins has written "six or seven" songs for the project.
I don't think it's the best footing to start his career with a rushed cover, plus the album is out for Mother's Day but I wouldn't have thought this was the best single to promote it to mums... depends how his version sounds.

This was covered by a Dutch singer, Ben L'Oncle Soul already a couple years ago and I bet Marcus version will be exactly the same!

Hmmm rushed release for Mother's Day then :-? will be interesting to hear this cover but considering some of the songs are written by Gary Barlow which suggests most of the album are new songs, releasing a cover is not a good start imo

Yes that's what I was thinking of actually, I just never knew who did it! I heard it loads when I was in France in 2010. Bet it sounds really similar, maybe even more horn-heavy.

Are there actually any Gary songs on it? I thought that aswell, but I read today that Gary produced some of the songs.
It wouldn't surprise me if this is going to be an album full of covers, so lame though. Marcus has a lot of potential but they are wasting it once again.

I think a lot of people are going to see this as sacrilegious, especially as I'm quite sure most White Stripes fans are pretty anti-X Factor as it is.

They obviously feel the only way he'll be successful is to rush out a single and album while he is still somewhat fresh in people's minds. I can't see how this is going to work though! :-?

Why would they do this? He's an extremely capable singer - it jsut seems like they've rushed this whole campaign.

Yeah, Simon likes to do things like this and rip off other versions of things and pass the ideas off as his.

Personally, I'm disappointed they didn't go with an original track as the first single. He's likely to alienate more fans than gain new ones with this.

tbh, I don't think that he has big star or career potentional, so at the end of day this looks like logical move for me..

I'm sure he'll put Jackie Wilson's stamp on it and make it Jackie Wilson's own.

I can't believe their trying to rush release his career :( is this a new x factor campaign to make the winners more successful than the runner ups
