Hard gave her another top 10 hit.

Struggle is not the right word though.

Well Unfaithful was an international hit, one of her classic songs and still very popular.

Hard and YD1 both underperformed because she is a POP artist. POP radio is not here for those more urban-oriented songs from Rihanna and at the same time they don't have (much) support from rhy/urban either. And both are among the weakest tracks off the respective albums so... her label should know better by now than not to release this type of song as a single.

The good thing? An underperforming single for Riri doesn't mean much more than that, it doesn't mean lack of interest or anything, she can still have a big hit right after a flop, see: Hard/Rude Boy, now YD1/TTT.

i'm glad to say that i'm in the minority when i say that i think Hard is one of her coolest, sexiest singles EVER!

And i think YD1 is so laidback and relaxing and definitely something...unique for her

It has finally fully grown on me, I actually play it daily now, but I think that is one of the problems why this underperformed.
They released the album + this too soon.

The impact of We Found Love completely overshadowed this and this is a grower and sounds pretty underwhelming imo. in comparison to We Found Love on the first listens. If more people, also from the general public have this, than I can understand why this has not done much, as it could have done maybe.

But yeah the song is also weak in comparison to most of the album.

It is sad though since I see the video now here also on tv.

Look we found love died down in Aus... You da one isn't doing anything.

We found love has paved way in most markets apart from UK and USA anyways.

I was never able to get into this I just think it was the wrong single choice after the massive WFL. The dub step is also messy :(

i think it was the right single choice. the obviously knew that we found love would still be big so they just released this to show another song and introduce the album more. bangers are now to come ttt :D

I agree. WFL is still No1 on HOT100 and having another single in the top30 for a few months now is only a plus

I get that but I still think it rather could have been the Wait Your Turn of this era instead of the underperforming 2nd single, if you get me.

yeah the other way around would have been better just like a buzz single.

This is going to be her 1st 2nd single not to reach the top 10 in the UK since 'If It's Lovin' That You Want' isn't it?! :(

It's grown on me so much, me and my friends are always singing it but it was clearly the wrong choice for 2nd single.

When you have HITS like Where Have You Been, Talk That Talk, Drunk On Love and Roc Me Out on the album, why release this?!

This was definitely the wrong single choice, a major underperformance for her here in Australia, arguably her lowest charting second single (depends on whether you consider 'Hard' as an official single in Australia or not).

I still can't believe this flopped so hard, even though it isn't as good as some of the other songs on the album it's still a good song and should've done much more

It is yeah. I thought it might have climbed in there at some point. They reduced it to 59p too early IMO. Why do they never release the remix bundles in the UK either? One has been released for "You Da One", everwhere apart from the UK! :-?

I wouldn't call this a flop in the UK, but it definitely underperformed.

And I just don't understand why. I honestly think it's one of the best songs on the album and I love the whole album.

I'm hearing this so much on the radio these days! It's kind of growing on me even if it is one of her worst singles.

Me neither. I still think this is the best track on the album, followed by Where Have You Been and then Roc Me Out.

It's not a bad song, it's just not a strong single choice especially after "We Found Love".
