XL BEGGARS (XL RECORDINGS)

Released 24 January 2011

Certification History:

12 x Platinum Certification Friday, November 18, 2011
10 x Platinum Certification Friday, July 08, 2011
8 x Platinum Certification Friday, April 22, 2011
7 x Platinum Certification Friday, April 08, 2011
6 x Platinum Certification Friday, March 25, 2011
5 x Platinum Certification Friday, March 18, 2011
4 x Platinum Certification Friday, March 04, 2011
3 x Platinum Certification Friday, February 25, 2011
2 x Platinum Certification Friday, February 11, 2011
Platinum Certification Friday, January 28, 2011

So what happened to 9, 11 and 13 x Platinum?
"21" was awarded 9 x Platinum Certification on Friday June 3 2011 http://www.ukmix.org/forums/viewtopic.p ... 83#3090483

This award was made at one of the times this year when the BPI weren't updating their certification database. It was listed in Music Week though which is where I got the date from. However there is nothing listed in Music Week also for both the 11 x Platinum and 13 x Platinum certifications so I can only assume they weren't applied for (which doesn't make sense when all the others were) or if they were applied for it was at the same time as the label applied for both the 12 x Platinum and 14 x Platinum certification awards. If so then for whatever reason the BPI have not released details of those two specific awards.

I'm sure the other 'missing' awards were not actually claimed, i.e. the email claiming the 14xP cert is unlikely to have mentioned the 13xP level, or any earlier one.

In this circumstance the BPI considers them to have been made on the same day, and counts them as 2 additional multi-platinum certifications. At least that's what they used to do. Perhaps they don't have the resources they used to have to create separate entries.

The BPI (once again) haven't updated their certification database. Though with the Christmas and New Year holidays there hasn't been a great deal of certifications applied for.

The only two albums that have been certified since the BPI website was last updated are:

Tom Waits - Closing Time (Gold)
Sigur Ross - () (Gold)

These were published in Music Week, issue dated 13/01/12.

No singles have been certified since 02/12/11/

WHY is Warner certifying 10,000 Maniacs and not Madonna?

@Lihoa just because Madonna left Warners doesn't mean they might not re certify her stuff at a later date example Mariah Carey left Columbia Records in 2000 yet Merry Christmas was certified 5x platinum on this date in 2003

Once again no singles have been certified. As it's now two months ago since any were certified it looks as though labels have just given up with the certification scheme for singles.

According to Music Week Titanium by David Guetta / Sia was certified silver last week, so Virgin at least are continuing to certify singles as they always have. Perhaps the BPI will put in on their database this week.
