Rolling-stone does the same thing when they make a greatest of all list. These list makes artist like Sinatra, Holiday, Crosby, Fitzgerald, and many other become forgettable. Holiday is probably the most influential female artist in American History. But Aretha always gets the credit. Madonna is a legend but she said herself that she will be sexual just to sell records. I mean she did keep it real but there are women who take music serious and will not do whatever it takes to stay relavent (no disrespect). Diana Ross, although not as talented as some of the ladies, she changed music and had success that paved the way for Janet, Madonna, Michael, Beyonce, and Whitney but yet she always ranks so low or she's not making the list period. She hasn't even been inducted in the Rock of Fame as a solo artist.I forgot about her. Here's my top ten.... for rock&roll era. In terms of influence, originality, work ethic, talent, Performances, style, and success (small factor).
1. Heart
2. Diana Ross
3. Aretha Franklin
4. Tina Turner
5. Pat Benatar
6. Madonna
7. Whitney Houston
8. Beyonce
9. Glady's Knight
10. Alicia Keys
I know this list is somewhat bad but I just went from the top of my head and it brings something different then what we've been getting lol.
