Azealia Banks is goooood, people should stop comparing her to Nicki Minaj.

"Go" by Delilah is pretty good as well, I like the atmosphere of it. The end of the video kind of creeped me out

Labrinth hasn't clicked with me yet.

Loick Essien's voice is great and I already prefer him to the likes of Taio Cruz, Jason Derulo and Jay Sean.

I've never heard of Maverick Sabre before, he reminds me off Plan B somehow. Not really feeling the song though.

These are the ones I didn't vote for and had to check out.

I listen to all the acts and I'm surprised how many of them I liked. It was hard voting for 3 :-?

05. StooShe

Image

A line in Stooshe's bio describes them as 'Salt N' Pepa meet Odd Future' while the Guardian recently pegged the London trio as an 'X Rated En Vogue'. To some extent, Stooshe's beginnings (they formed in January 2011) resemble that of the usual girlband - two of the members were spotted and recruited in Topshop by a songwriting and stylist team.

But the similarities end there. All three members (Karis, Courtney and Alex) write their own material and have been whipping up a bit of a storm with their infectiously catchy, very sweary and distinctly British brand of urban pop. A support slot on a tour with N-Dubz and a free download (The Stoosh Tape) generated a lot of buzz and before long the trio were paired with producer Futurecut (Wretch 32, Lily Allen, Prof. Green, Plan B) and had landed a deal with Warners.

The video for their first single Betty Woz Gone (based on a true story, it's a sorry tale of a young mother more interested in a good time than looking after her kids) has currently racked up the best part of 200,000 views on Youtube. Expect to hear much much more of these young ladies (with a few bleeps here and there, perhaps).

StooShe's official 1st single, 'Love Me' featuring Travie McCoy looks set to be a huge chart smash with a debut album, executively produced by FutureCut, due out later this year.

04. Frank Ocean

Image

Frank Ocean has come 2nd in the BBC Sound of 2012. Christopher Francis Ocean is set to finally establish himself as a solo artist of Worldwide acclaim in 2012. The 24 year-old OFWGKTA member moved from Louisianna to Los Angeles following hurricane Katrina to work on his first album, and legally changed his name from Christopher ""Lonny"" Breaux shortly after.

In L.A. the singer soon hooked up with the Odd Future collective and began work writing for the likes of Brandy, John Legend and most recently Beyonce on I Miss You. Ocean was also called up to work on two tracks from Jay-Z and Kanye West's Watch The Throne.

Collaborations aside, it was Ocean's solo work which garnered most praise. Signed to Def Jam in 2009, Ocean delivered his debut mixtape nostalgia,ULTRA earlier this year, winning fans on both side of the Atlantic, including Zane Lowe, who debuted tracks from the release on Radio 1 in November.

A highly anticipated album will be due this year with a new single, 'Thinking About You', out soon!

I like a few of Frank's songs, more importantly, the stuff he does for other artists.

03. Azealia Banks

Image

Azealia Banks has come 3rd in the BBC Sound of 2012 countdown and also 3rd in the UKMix Sound of 2012 countdown! 20 year-old MC Azealia stormed into the musical consciousness of the masses in early September when the fizzing beats of 212 sparked the attention of blogs and radio stations around the globe who found favour in the lyricist's accelerated rhymes and potty mouth as much as the Lazy Jay sample which underpinned it.

This was not the first we had seen of Azealia however, the Harlem girl graduated from the same Manhattan based LaGuardia High School, which spawned Al Pacino and Nicki Minaj, before trying her hand at acting and musical theatre. She soon diverted her attention to hip hop, popping up as Miss Bank$, with the Ladytron sampling Seventeen attracting the attention of XL Records, before appearances on the 1Love video series and Major Lazer EP Lazers Never Die.

A cover of Interpol's Slow Hands followed before Banks parted ways with XL and started a major label scramble for her signature. Now based in London, NME's coolest person of 2011 is working on her hotly anticipated debut release with Florence + The Machine producer Paul Epworth.

Look out for her next single 'Liquorice' which will be out soon!
