MIA criticized over middle finger gesture at the Super Bowl

She's an idiot, the Super Bowl is a major event for most Americans and there is no need for a singer few really know or care about to spoil it.
What was she protesting against anyway? The show business industry which allows flash-in-the-pan acts like her to become rich? Just a fame seeker IMO.

They should stop going on about this overreaction & focus on how epic Madonna's performance was.

Umm...

...Madonna's performance was not epic.

It was good. Not epic.

^^^^^^ Prepare yourself to be slayed by her stans. NorfolkScot is coming for yo wig

Although I share Titan's opinion, I gotta say no matter what, the Superbowl will always be the Superbowl, and you KNOW you can't mess with the event. M.I.A. could be more abiding... but I guess she wanted press.

Wasn't she just doing what she does in the video?

Yes! I said that earlier on my Facebook. I believe it probably wasn't intentional. She just did the routine that she rehearsed for the video

I am just glad Madonna didn't wear her silly bra outfit. Was one of the better half time shows of recent years.

To be honest, I didn't even pay it no mind. After awhile, you just build up an immunity to people flipping you the bird.

Regardless, people were literally waiting for failure and/or something to criticize.

Granted, what MIA did was unnecessary and stupid...but...it wasn't that serious.

The media is making a big deal out of a very small issue. What they need to be doing is talking about how American-Iranian relations are beginning to reach a boiling point.

Hello!? This is obviously her claim-to-fame moment in America, but since no one really cares about her (in the USA), it would die down and would be forgotten after 2-3 weeks!

Agreed, but I just can't understand why Madonna had invited for a featuring someone so irrelevant on the musical worlwide landscape.Maybe they knew she would try any desperated action that could bring more attention and a bit of controversy for the event.

Anyway,MIA did it,because she knew she didn't have anything to lose, unlike Janeth.

LOL watch yourself honey! Irrelevant WW? All her studio albums are on top 10 lists of the best critical acclaimed albums WW. Her average Metacritic score is over 80! She is a critical acclaimed genius! Something Madonna and the other divas can never achieve.

Hilarious how 'no one cares about her' and she's 'desperate for fame' when she's been recording non-commercial, critically acclaimed and influential music for years now and sold thousands of albums. If she wanted attention she could easily of collaborated with artists such as Nicki Minaj, Missy and Timbaland and even Christina Aguilera for a hit but she hasn't at all! Maybe you should think about that before posting such crap...

First the performance wasn't spoiled by MIA there're a lot of things did the job.

and c'mon MIA had only 3 seconds of camera time she had to pull a 'LiL Mama,

and last as usual US TV overreacts, it's not like she showed her P**sy.

Hmmm "irrelevant"... let me see... not everyone has the same goals/standards as Madonna, Rihanna or Katy Perry. There are other artists that are not "that" commercial. M.I.A. is one of them. Her music is usually critically acclaimed and I think she has others goals in her career, not just having #1 hits or multiplatinum albums ("Paper planes" was an accidental hit).

PS: nothing personal but I find "getback"'s avatar horrible. Worst Madonna's look eva!
