Agreed, GetBack you said yourself your not familiar with her so you should look into her more before you start saying she is a wannabe and desperate for fame because it's a dumb comment.

No one is saying that she doesn't make "good" music or that she's not an artist, or that she's not talented whatsoever, but it was obvious that she purposely did that 'middle finger act' to get attention, and perhaps, when she gets interviewed, she'll have the 'I don't give a f*ck attitude' which is obviously still for attention-seeking purposes.

If she didn't raise the middle finger during the Superbowl, she'd probably get the "Who is her?" treatment, and I don't think she'll appreciate that. I don't hate her, I don't even condemn her, but she (or whoever made her do that) really wants attention for her.

And what she did was something smart and commendable? Maybe for her career, I guess it is. I don't hate her, but I don't think it's fair to judge me (for judging her actions) after doing something inappropriate. I mean, raising a middle finger in the Superbowl, really? I mean, that form of gimmickry looked so cheap and desperate.

Once again, I'm not lambasting her personally, or condemning her, I'm not even affected or offended by her, but it's just obvious that this was publicity to push her career into greater heights.

If you knew her style and music better, you would know that she is like that. Carefree, swagga loaded with oodles of i-don't-give-a-fu#k attitude. Her gesture was absolutely spontaneous in my opinion, and she isn't someone who would behave in a different way because she was asked to.

And raising the middle finger is not really that big a deal. She didn't racially abuse or show her private parts.

Folks, let GetBack take a breath from now on !

1. It seems that someone here still didn't get what the word "SUUPAA" means reallly !

2. Why MIA,as a "acclamaid artist" had to do that ? Rememeber her current single is called "Bad Girls"?

3. She actted like her "talent" wasn't still enough to be recognized by her merits.

4. iTunes is showing now all the power of her talented middle finger 8-)

5.I think thst site deserves a poll to know how many people still believe in Santa Chlaus,Tooth Fairy etc : why MIA could take risky with her fantastic career in USA ,knowing how conservative (and hypocritical) that people are !

Agreed, but I just can't understand why Madonna had invited for a featuring someone so irrelevant on the musical worlwide landscape.Maybe they knew she would try any desperated action that could bring more attention and a bit of controversy for the event.

Anyway,MIA did it,because she knew she didn't have anything to lose, unlike Janeth.

Hmmm "irrelevant"... let me see... not everyone has the same goals/standards as Madonna, Rihanna or Katy Perry. There are other artists that are not "that" commercial. M.I.A. is one of them. Her music is usually critically acclaimed and I think she has others goals in her career, not just having #1 hits or multiplatinum albums ("Paper planes" was an accidental hit).
I feel the same way. M.I.A. may not be as "hot" as Nicki, but in many circles she is far more relevant.

The most outrageous thing is that America made a SUPER BIG deal about Janet, her nipple, and the broadcast system of television! Therefore, it was supposed to control the transmission, as it was retarded in order to avoid this kind of situation! So, how come this managed to appear on TV?

Precisely!

People act as if M.I.A. is an unknown b*tch! In an era where everyone accesses to the internet, she's actually pretty much noticed.

media coverage is stupidity as such...they made the world aware of this, no one would care.
MIA will benefit from that, will get exposure and her fans love the way she is and what she represents.

If she had invited Rihanna and Katty instead of the two singers ? Wouldn't she be overshadowed by them ? :-?

Whether she wants commercial succes or not, who would have declined to do something with Madonna (and I am not even a fan, and I would not even refuse)? It's not like M.I.A. is gonna release some super commercial album now and after the MDNA era, M.I.A. probably returns to the position she already had, I think it was more likely to work with someone special and for fun rather than getting commercial.

LOL watch yourself honey! Irrelevant WW? All her studio albums are on top 10 lists of the best critical acclaimed albums WW. Her average Metacritic score is over 80! She is a critical acclaimed genius! Something Madonna and the other divas can never achieve.
Music and COADF are both at 80 on Metacritic.

Madonna will never be overshadowed on stage. She has a stage presence no other living performer has, eyes immediately focus on her.

But more to your point, people are criticizing her for picking "nobodies" to collaborate with on the track when if she had gone with obvious choices like Katy or Riri those same people would be ripping her to shreds for being so "desperate."

^^yea, that's like turning down MJ, or Beatles, or Elvis lol, etc or someone really cemented in music history. She'd be dumb to turn that down.

OOOOOOOhhhhh!! I wonder if that Janet incident didn't happen, would Justin have performed with Madonna doing 4 Minutes.
Music should make you feel something, not just have you in awe of their singing abilities.[/

Hmmm I bet she will never share the stage with Beyoncé.

It's ironic how the most vulgar of nations make the biggest fuss about such gestures.

I don't think M.I.A. is that type of artist. She's made her mark. She's one of the most critically acclaim artists.

Madge ask her for the feature for a reason.

I don't think she's attention seeking. Her personality is like that. She's been doing controversial stuff since forever. Most of her music videos have always been political and debatable, for example.
