50-41:

DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love : My favourite Usher track along with "OMG". Before this I used to think he was not a great artist at all but this totally changed my opinion of him as this is really a great club/pop song.

Alejandro : Not my favourite Gaga single nor video, but it's still great nonetheless. The video is quite disgusting and I don't get the message she's trying to put through. This song is one of Gaga's most catchiest songs for me (along with "Bad Romance", "Poker Face" and "Judas").

Best Thing I Never Had : Very overrated in this forum. Though it is definitely a great song, it isn't really Beyoncé's best ballad like how many make it out to be, nor it is the best track from "4". I'm glad that this was the biggest hit from the era however as it proved that Beyoncé was still loved for doing ballads and not only uptempos.

40-31:

Toxic : One of my favourite Britney singles and one I knew before exploring into her discography this year. It's a classic for sure and it's certainly Britney's career-defining song (along with "...Baby One More Time").

Can't Be Tamed = Miley's best song for me and the only song of hers I can listen to.

Born This Way = Excellent! Though it's a tad overrated by the general public and the little monsters especially, it's certainly one of the tunes that'll make you remember 2011 in music. I also appreciate the inspirational message put across by this song and IMO was a deserved #1 song for Gaga.

Teenage Dream = Great song but not my favourite single from this era. It's still a great summer/party song though and it really set the tone for the album after "California Gurls". I prefer "E.T.", "Firework" and "The One That Got Away" to this song.

California Gurls = A good song but it is the worst single released by Katy this era. The video is meh and is certainly not Katy's best video. I got bored of this song pretty quickly as well.

Rolling In The Deep = It is, no doubt, the song that started Adele's massive success worldwide. It is also the song of the year 2011. However, it is VERY overplayed and overrated especially among the public and I can't stand this song now. It would rank the last of the three singles from "21" if I were to rank them. This song will be a classic nevertheless and will be the career-defining song for Adele (along with "Someone Like You").

"Toxic" = epic. definitely one of Brit's signature tunes, and deservedly so!

"Can't Be Tamed" = well, looking back, apparently Miley's fanbase wasn't quite ready for her to go all I'm-a-sexy-grown-ass-woman on them...but it's still a great song!

"Born This Way" = not the best moment on the album, but it really does leave me feeling good after listening to it.

"Teenage Dream" = epic. I loved it when it first came out, and then fell even more in love after Glee covered it (that scene where Kurt first comes to Dalton and watches Blaine perform this song, whew, talk about a teenage wet dream!). it definitely speaks to me, now that I'm 23 and all old and whatnot ;) the idea of wanting to feel like a teenager again and finding a love that fills you with that sense of...naiive optimism and carefree recklessness. "we'll be young forever..."

"Te Amo" = sexy. one of many highlights on Rated R. and props to RiRi for tackling a song about lezzie lovin'. (well, I guess Rihanna technically rejects her advances in the song, but still...)

"Ours" = <3 <3 <3.

Don't get me wrong, I love "DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love" but I think Usher's got a number of stronger songs in his discography.

And as I said, even I was surprised at how high "California Gurls" ended up. It's my least fave Teenage Dream single as well.

I guess Miley was hoping "Can't Be Tamed" would become her "I'm A Slave 4 U" but, alas, her fanbase was almost entirely Disney-rooted and they couldn't handle the wings and feathers.

As for "Teenage Dream", it's definitely an anthem and I guess I can relate to it. And Paul, 23 is hardly old. Didn't you hear that 23 is the new 16? Just as 40 is the new 20.

 so true, but it's sooo catchy! "honey got a booty like pow-pow-pow, honey got some boobies like wow-oh-wow..."

any rate, I don't adore "Titanium" quite as much as you do Akini, but it is good. for me, it's just over-shadowed by "Without You" and "Turn Me On".

"Sweet Dreams" = fantastic! it's verrry dance/pop-y for B, but that's prolly why I love it.

"Countdown" = fantastic too! definitely one of those songs that I didn't appreciate until I saw the video. so cute and fun, and she looks so gorgeous!

"...Baby One More Time" = iconic. the song that started it all. "I must confess, that my loneliness, is killing me nowwwwww...."

and Paul: Those lyrics ..  but yeah it's catchy but my fave single from his change is DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love

 the "boobies like wow-oh-wow" part makes me smile everytime! (the beat in that part is pretty fantastic too).

I'd definitely pick "OMG" over "DJ Got Us Fallin...". ;)

I love how everyone (except Horacio) has totally ignored my question. Rude, much? I jest, I jest!

@ Horacio, I can assure you that it is one of the magic four.

@ Bill, I am (pleasantly) surprised that you find Brit's debut single to be "fun". I swear that you're a Britney fan underneath all that tough guy, alternative taste exterior.

@ Paul, that's the exact same reason I love "Sweet Dreams"! And, ironically, I like the "boobies" line as well.

@ Matt, at your description of "Sweet Dreams".
