They had everything that a common person would judge as the recipe of a happy life, but they end up their lives as loosers !

thats just bcos a common person often forgets that he has one thing that celebrities dont, privacy. maybe it doesnt seem like something very precious as long as you have it and its natural for you, but celebrities lose it when they become famous and they never can get it back the way it was before, then they realize the great value of privacy and freedom. you know I mean freedom to go out shopping without having paparazzis follow them around. or if they have a bad hair day, or break up with their partner, or get really wasted in a nightclub one night, and the next day they see themselves all over the tabloids and everybody is talking about them, what happened to them, what they did, how they looked. having to deal with all that sh!t, do you really think thats part of the recipe of a happy life? bcos all celebrities have to deal with all that stuff, to some extent at least. and I imagine it can be very overwhelming and after a time they probably really would like to have a bit of rest but there is no way out. they kind of desperately try to escape from their crazy life. so I honestly think that, anyone who thinks celebrities have the recipe of a happy life, is either very naive or completely insane.
privacy and freedom are much more essential parts of a happy life than money, fame and a sh!tload fake a$$ friends. #realtalk

I'd agree it's partially too much pressure to live up to other people's expectations, inability to deal with changing times and money (which can fuel your addictions to a level the average Joe's addictions cannot be fueled without either going broke or going to prison or rehab or somewhere).

The interesting thing is that we lost half the big 4 of the 80s. Among Michael, Madonna, Prince & Whitney we lost the two who were considered the good personas, the good role-models in a way. I am guessing that created an enormous amount of pressure. On the other hand, the "bad" guys of the 80s Prince and Madonna are still alive and going strong.

I think being a celeb means that you'd be targeted by a lot of wrong people. It's more complicated to have decent friendship and relationships without people being interested either in your money or your fame. Perfect dresses, perfect weight (underweight), perfect BF or GF, movies/music always being a hit, perfect interviews, 100 accessibility for fans. IMHO it's more complicated for child actors/singers since they haven't really seen normal life outside showbiz. Family factor can play an important role (Lindsey Lohan).

Ya never know. In the 60's and 70's, Keith Richards was at the top of the list of celebrities people thought wouldn't make it to the end of the year, it's 2012 and he's still alive despite consuming more drugs than humanly possible. Steven Tyler's drug addictions are infamous too and he's still alive today as well.

That only makes me respect people like: Madonna, Janeth Jackson, Celine Dion, Shakira and other singers that had hard moments during the last 20 years !

The question should really be "why do addicts seek fame?"

If you look into their past you soon find they start with something small and take it too excess. It perhaps starts with drink or smoking. But the one thing that emerges over the bloke you see on the street drinking meths, is a massive ego.

In order to even become famous you have to survive some pretty nasty people out there. Some of whom will think your crap, have no talent, a drug addict, in it for sex, in it for the money, mad, a fool, evil, in with the devil, bent, gay (when you're not).... well you get the drift....
However others will think the sun shines out of your rear end

The addict also thinks the sun shines out of you know where, for themselves, till they meet those above and starts thinking it doesn't. And so has to escape.
In the Celeb case it started before they became a Celeb and the Celeb life is the escape. The only trouble is the Celeb is often one of those nasty people who say nasty things about others. So in the end there's no escape and you have people around you who are ready and waiting for you to fall. And if you fall off completely someone will profit from you.

However it works out in the end. For you can go on to your next lives knowing at some point in the future you can come back and write a book about yourself, or make a movie about who you were, safe in the knowledge that your a completely different person and even you don't know who you where.

Steven Tyler is indestructible, pretty much like Nikki Sixx. I cant imagine how its possible that they are still alive but Im glad they are nonetheless. especially glad for Nikkis complete recovery from addiction, hes pretty much the perfect example of how you get a whole new sober life.

hmm I dont think thats gonna happen so soon. I think she was more in danger in her anorexic times.

Im afraid it will be somebody we totally dont expect again. I hope its not somebody so young, like Brittany Murphy was for example :( :(

My friend (Pearl Jam junky) and I started joking that Keith and Steven began eating healthy and drinking milk before going to bed a looong time ago. Basically all this thing "I'm sooo into drugs" now is more of an act than any actual addiction. I'm not an expert though.

I would absolutely hate to be a celebrity. I'll take all the money and power but they can keep the fame because I love my anonymnity.

I agree with this. They are under too much pressure and probably they've been carrying things from their past also. That must be a dangerous combination.

Their money is a part of the whole thing.

Money can be a blessing, but it also can be a curse.

Fiddlesticks :x The only people who can't handle it are those who did not ask to be famous in the first place. Anyone famous and who later takes drugs/drinks etc, is like that not because they can't handle it. That's just the hype that goes with being a celeb talking, just hiding a fragile ego or more likely to do with damaging the "stars" money making potential, even if they die.

Really the vast majority of people who want to be famous to the extent they need the status that a major star gets are pretty screwed up people from the start.
Otherwise they would stay of the stuff that screws thier minds up.... But then they would be delivering your mail or serving you your lunch, instead of singing or acting.
