Well, if you need 26 points, I guess a few of mine won't make the list.

I predict "Friends" to win. It's not on my list but I think most people here will rank it very high.

I think US TV programmes will dominate.

I hope it's neither Friends or Sex And The City... I'd love it to be something British but that's unlikely (16 of my 20 are British shows).

My choices

#296 The Killing (original Danish TV version)
#268 The Flintstones
#257 Harry Enfield and Chums

It looks like if programmes get the same number of points, the ranking will be determined alphabetically!

Yeah, it first goes by the number of voters, then by the highest single number of points and then alphabetically.

Code: Select all
285 Gavin & Stacey
262 The Smoking Room

Shame nobody else voted for these. Gavin & Stacey (my #19) for the first two series especially is fantastic, the characterisations are brilliant. The Smoking Room (my #16) is extremely underrated, it has a Royle Family feel as it's set in one room and the dialogue is brilliant, I can re-watch it over and over.

I only lost one CSI: New York
It's not my favorite CSI though so I'm not bothered. :D
I'm hoping Big Bang Theory can win this Countdown but I think Friends most probably will.

297 White Collar [1] - I'd watch this for Matt Bomer
294 The Amanda Show [1] - used to love it!
293 Hollyoaks [1] - can be really rubbish at times but great at others, didn't make my cut.

My first two casualties:
291 Firefly [1]
Brilliant series, though very short-lived. I watched all the episodes over one weekend.
289 The Wild Thornberrys [2]
One of my favourite kids TV shows. A protagonist who was an outcast and always had good intentions made for a brilliant show that balanced humour with great storytelling.

286 Holby City [2] - occasionally watch, not as good as Casulaty IMO.
275 Grimm [3] - watched the first episode last night, looks promising.
274 Dad's Army [3] - would've been in my Top 50. very good series with a great cast.
270 V (original) [4] - never seen but seems like I'd enjoy it.
266 Jim'll Fix It [4] - only seen clips but it looked like a great show.
263 V (Remake) [5] - same with the original
260 New Girl [5] - too new for me to chart but I am loving it so far. Great characters, and Zooey is so brilliant in the lead role.
255 ChuckleVision [5] - I enjoyed it at times but something about it really annoyed me.
254 All Grown Up [5] - it was decent. On paper it sounds good but people just didn't take to it.

I can't stand all the CSI/NCIS/L&O shows - tehy're all too similar for my liking.

Neighbours is an Australian soap opera. It was first aired in March 1985 and has been airing since.
Serial chronicling the lives of the residents of Ramsay Street in the fictional Australian suburb of Erinsborough. When the series began, it revolved around three families - the Ramsays, the Robinsons and the Clarkes, living at no. 24, no. 26 and no. 28 respectively. Nowadays, the scope of the programme is much wider and only one member of the original families remains in the street. The show reached a watershed in 1997 when the last remaining original character, Helen Daniels, died. The departure of her relatives and arrival of the Scully family marked the start of a new era for Neighbours. There's never a dull moment in Ramsay Street, and despite their many feuds, the residents will always - in the words of the show's theme tune - "be there for one another".

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers is an American live-action children's television series.
Four athletically able teenagers along with their brainy friend Billy are selected by Zordon to fight the evil of Rita Repulsa, her monsters and her minions after the witch is accidentally released from imprisonment in an intergalactic dumpster on the moon. Later in the series, the rangers are joined by Tommy, the once evil Green Ranger designed for Rita's evil, but later was deprogrammed and spent two portions of the series briefly as the Green Ranger. Over time, some rangers had to pass their powers to others as well. Action scenes and scenes with Rita were edited from footage based on Japanese action sagas.

Neighbours - I was the only one who voted for it. I've watched it for as long as I can remember, I only missed out on about 6 months a couple of years ago but other than that, I've been a continuous viewer. The show doesn't have to rely on massive storylines like the UK soaps, it does more realistic storylines without overdramatising them but still makes them good viewing. It's also a lot less 'doom and gloom' than other shows - probably down to being set in Oz.

It's a show that you can easily enjoy without knowing the characters - it manages to combine humour and drama very well. It also gives you a great sense of community: no one knocks on doors, everyone drinks in the same place and does their shopping in a tiny general store, everyone knows everyone's business. I just watch this show and ultimately always have a smile on my face because it's a joy to watch (also, most the cast are attractive and not in a pretty-but-can't-act way like some of the cast of Hollyoaks).

Having watched it for so long I probably sound really bias but I have so much love for this show. It's more of a British institution than an Australian one and, although it doesn't pull in the figures it used to (Scott and Charlene's (KYLIE MINOGUE) wedding drew over 20 million in the UK, it still has a strong fanbase and is one of the most widely distributed shows in the world.

Rambling done, amazing show.

Wow - only one person voted "Neighbours"??? That's a big shock if you ask me.

I was the one who voted Cracker - fantastic detective show, who'd have thought such a gritty character as Fitz could see the actor behind him go on to become Hagrid in Harry Potter???

I also voted Only Connect - I've not seen that much of it as I never remember when it's on, and it's BBC4, which confuses me! However, it's a really mind-challenging game show, and well worth a watch.

I was sadly alone in voting for the legendary Jimmy Saville and "Jim'll Fix It". If he could have fixed it for me, back in the day, I really wanted to know what was on the inside of my computer and how it worked... and I also really wanted to ride on a zebra! Not sure what the zebra would have made of it!

Also I'm very  to say that "Chucklevision" was a favourite of my childhood - however daft it was!
