Confessions had high sales in short time, while 21 has lower sales but is selling extremely consistent... Similiar to how Shania Twain did with Come On OverDane wrote:7xP one year after release!thebigham wrote:New from the RIAA website:

This could be the first Diamond album since Usher's Confessions - released March 2004.
However, Confessions went 7xp after just 7 months and 9xp after just 14 months! It eventually went Diamond after 4½ years.
Actually I can give you the probably biggest example of all:do you know how many album's triumphed through 9x P and then stopped
Mariah Carey - Mariah Carey halted at 9x Platinum also.Edu wrote:danbarj:Actually I can give you the probably biggest example of all:do you know how many album's triumphed through 9x P and then stopped
Prince & The Revolution's "Purple Rain".
It was released in 25 of June of 1984 and LESS than 5 months later (13 of November) it was certified at 8 x Platinum!
Then in January 16 of 1985 it reached the 9 x Platinum (at this point was still the best selling album in the USA).
But then Prince didn't wanted to tour anymore (including overseas) and he decided to release a 5th single which in my opinion was not the right one, "Take Me With U".
If the 5th has been "The Beautiful Ones" or even "Baby I'm A Star" and he had continued to play live then who knows how much more copies "Purple Rain" could have shipped. Prince instead wanted to release the "Around The World" album and so he denied Warner the chance of trying to release a 6th single from the album.
After all this only in 1989 "Purple Rain" reached finally the 10 million shipment mark (four years and a month after the 9P certification).
Wrong comparation.Mariah Carey - Mariah Carey halted at 9x Platinum also.
^^^This. I genuinely don't 'get' how there are still some who cling to the belief that Diamond for '21' isn't going to happen. Maybe it's because they have always claimed it wouldn't and don't actually *like* the idea that it willVoReason wrote:There's literally zero chance of Adele not getting to diamond.
I've no idea where the album will end up, but it's going to be past diamond.
Finally! "IM2" scanned 471K by December 2010!thebigham wrote:New from the RIAA website:
