Resurrecting an old thread! My original post-

Blondini wrote:I just discovered this group from the eighties who were pretty big in America but virtually unknown here. From 1981 to 1986 they caused quite a stir with their hot mix of shiny synth pop and spiky new wave guitar. The group were formed by married couple Terry Bozzio (drums) and Dale Bozzio (vocals). Dale's provocative outfits and strong, sexy image were many young men's entry into adulthood! Just check out the video for hit Words
:o :o :P :P :P :P

Dale's vocal style is kind of Lene Lovich meets Cyndi Lauper (pre-Cyndi), stylistically she was like Wendy O Williams of the Plasmatics with Debbie Harry's hair and Toyah's hairspray. I can't believe i (and most of the UK) have not heard of this group.
Duran Duran fans might be aware of them, as guitarist Warren Cuccurillo was a founder member before they split in 86 and he joined Duran until Andy and John Taylor rejoined Duran in 2001.

This group are great and i just wanted to let people know about them.

They've been cited as possible influences on Shiny Toy Guns and The Sounds. That's the main reason i YouTubed them. Oh and Mylo made their name known on his God-fearing sample-fest Destroy Rock n Roll-
"Missing Persons, Duran Duran, Missing Persons, Duran Duran"

And some YouTube posters said she was the Gwen Stefani of her day- well, she had the legs, the quirkiness.

Walking in LA made my all time chart (and Dusty's). I really don't get why they weren't bigger...

Poor Dale, she recently faced charges of animal abuse, when neighbors found numerous dead and dying cats in her house when she was away.

As for the Missing Persons my favorite songs by them are "Words", "Walking in LA", "Windows" and "Give" is cool too, although her solo record "Simon Simon" is PHENOMENAL. She apparently dislikes her solo stuff nowadays.

If you ever want to see how Lady GaGa came about, look no further than Dale!

I loved Words in the 80s. Great video!

I only began to appreciate Destination Unknown a few years ago.

It should have been a big hit in the USA.

This is one of my favorite bands from the 80s. Other favorite groups include Thomson Twins, Talk Talk, Propaganda and artists such as Kim Wilde.

For Missing persons, their first two albums were great! Their third kinda sucked.

Terry Bozzio is one of the best drummers ever!

Dale Bozzio always carried a special spirit to the group that made them unique. She's not a singer, but she makes up for that buy her colorful lively personality and vocal style all to her own.

Favorite song is either words or destination unknown.
I listen to the best music (for me!), aren't you jealous? - http://www.last.fm/user/Zar-Unity

Might as well share the quite arty (although dated, in an endearing way) video:

I've updated the video links in post one again! EMI have uploaded them all including the not-so-great later funk-based ones (all interesting though).

There are arguments about GaGa on every single one!
