You remember that they received Album Of The Year in the late 80s? So I wouldn't say that they were snubbed at their beginning and for their 90s, critics weren't feeling them which is why their award schedule in that time is rather empty.argentino78 wrote:I can think of U2.
They weren't awarded big time with their best albums back in the 80s and 90s and now the Academy seems to compensate that, giving them a lot of awards for their post 2000 albums (which are their worst IMO).
i don't think they got many actually, there are many categories rather they can..could have...won easily, i mean r'n'b field and general ones. They got also collaborative potential, which also explains it allVoReason wrote:You can't say Alison Krauss has too many if you don't know her music haha! That's ridiculous!
But yeah, I love Bey/Alicia/Kanye to death, but I personally think they receive a lot more than they should! Hats off too them though, they always have outstanding music!

She has an outstanding amount of Grammy awards... I can't really say if she deserves them or not but I suspect she MIGHT be overrated. I mean, she should be a huge American legend/icon by now!VoReason wrote:You can't say Alison Krauss has too many if you don't know her music haha! That's ridiculous!
She is a legend in country music, just not as mainstream as Garth and co. Also, she's been collecting these awards for the last 22 years.argentino78 wrote:She has an outstanding amount of Grammy awards... I just suspect that... too many awards!
Of course. I just "suspected"... Alisson is blue grass I understand... A genre very related to country, right?crazy4bk wrote:There are several artists who have tons of Grammys that you may never have heard of, It doesn't mean they are overrated.
I think the Grammy awards reward artists who are either commercial/or have the ability to be commercial, Along with some critical acclaim.
Alison is amazing! I adore her voice and love her music both solo and with The Union Station very much.argentino78 wrote:She has an outstanding amount of Grammy awards... What do you mean?TIfan wrote:I think everyone who has 10 Grammy's plus deserves them. Its not right to say someone is overrated because everyone has fans. Sales aren't everything.
I give you them winning in 1987 for Joshua Tree. But in hindsight, Achtung Baby is now also regarded as an all-time classic album and U2 were all but snubbed back then.Timmy94 wrote:You remember that they received Album Of The Year in the late 80s? This! I also noticed Diana glowing...frisbee wrote:I didn't like the way they handled Whitney's tribute. It was so...meh. Last year they had five successful female artists do a tribute for Aretha Franklin - who is alive and kicking (bless her).
And Diana Ross was looking very happy.

Personally I think it's a smart idea of Adele to do this. I'm sure she is aware that "21" is an unduplicable success and its smart to try something new for the next album instead of trying to retread what worked before. IMO its the mark of a great artist. Even with Alanis, Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie is miles apart from Jagged Little Pill in style and theme, and it was probably smart she didn't try to clone the most successful album because nobody in their right mind would've expected her to match or even come close to that success again. I wish Adele luck on her future endeavors.Timmy94 wrote:Titan3510 wrote:Let's see if Adele can top what Krauss has got going on. Maybe I've been a bit conservative but Im surprised how many people see Adele having a major career.
She's having an unbelievable successful time at the moment but this doesn't mean that a legendary career is a given.
People thought so about Alanis Morissette and Norah Jones, so while it of course can happen, it can't be said at this point...
Not only does she dominate a the blue-grass genre but seems to move effortlessly between genres(Raising Sand) and is selective with whom she colloborates with. BTW Raising Sand #2 was cancelled because she and Plant felt it did not meet their standardsVoReason wrote:She is a legend in country music, just not as mainstream as Garth and co.
