Nothing has been officially confirmed except that she is in talks with the producers as a potential judge.

Livin' in a World (They Didn't Make) is sooooooooo beautiful. I love its melody and it has a true meaning that i miss in a lot of recent ballads.

Janet would be perfect for US X factor. More importantly she could use this to relaunch herself back into the American public. Good move. Plus her Career>>>>> Paula & Nicole's combined.

So... I just listened to "Dream Street", the only Janet album I hadn't listen to in its entirety. I think it's her worst. I only liked "Don't Stand Another Chance" and "If It Takes All Night". Those opening lines of "If It Takes All Night" though... OMG:

I've got my eyes on you You're playin with peek-a-boo

dyinggggg

the album cover sucks too, sorry.

Anyway, my final ranking of Janet's albums.

1. Rhythm Nation 1814 [Love every song.]
2. All For You [Same here. Even "Truth" has grown on me]
3. Damita Jo [Great continuation. VERY underrated]
4. The Velvet Rope [Love it, but it's not as flawless as I used to think]
5. Control [It's great, but FHTFWYHF is one of her worst song to me]
6. janet. [Has some of her absolute best, and absolute worst songs]
7. Janet Jackson [Works well as a whole and "Say You Do" sh1ts!]
8. 20 Y.O. [Few standsouts, passable overall]
9. Discipline [Same with 20 Y.O. The worst part though is how distant/impersonal this CD feels]
10. Dream Street [I didn't like this album]

I rank her debut higher than "20 Y.O." and "Discipline" because as a whole I love it better than those too. "20 Y.O" and "Discipline" have better individual standouts.

RN1814 & AFY are immaculate 10's.
Damita Jo is and TVR are 9's.
Control is gets an 8
janet. and JJ get 7
20 Y.O. and Discipline get a 5 (or 6 depending on my mood)
Dreamstreet gets a 4 (after two listens).

I'm so ready for new Janet now. :D

Some sales:

76 114 110 97 JACKSON*JANET ICON 922 29 715 46216
So lame that this was even released. It took away sales from 'Number Ones' probably. It's sold more than most/all the other 'ICON' albums, so that's cool!

Janet is too big to lower herself to something like this. Plus, we've seen from Paula, Dannii and others that once you become a judge, your music career is put on the far back burner.

^ True. Still...Janet would be very good at it.

Question: why are all of Janet's albums so long?

It's just reasonable that her albums are so long since she takes long breaks!

I really hope she surprises us with an album this year. I really want a new Janet Jackson album so bad!!! :(

she looks soooo fresh and young and beautiful there. Really straight from the early 90's. She was so humble too. OMG really cute! I love her so much.

I loved that the guy said what I believe Janet hasn't heard enough yet. She impacted dancers and so many people for basically their entire lives. With all the US radio backlash she's had in the past, I think it's important that she realizes how many fans she still has and how devoted they are to her. Whenever she's on tour again in Europe or whenever she'll release a new album, I'll be attending and buying like always because she deserves it. She impacted me too. Lovely woman, humble person, great spirit, Janet Jackson.

1. Rhythm Nation 1814. Every song is a masterpiece and it was a great theme.
2. Control. I know that outside of the US she's still seen by many as "Michael's sister", but for Americans, Control established Janet as a force on her own. It was my first introduction to her (although I know I watched episodes of Fame and Diff'rent Strokes she was in prior to 1986) and one hell of a strong album
3. The Velvet Rope. Janet proves those skeptics who think she's just someone who sings catchy r&b and pop numbers that she is a true artist, and the strength of this album has probably haunted her ever since because TVR has shown her capabilities.
4. janet. I think it was sandwiched in between two far superior albums, but still a great album as well. "That's The Way Love Goes" was so out of left field in 1993 from what we expected from Janet, and it proved she'd be one of just a handful of 80's stars who'd continue into the 90's without a misstep.
5. Discipline. I think this album gets a bum rap because most people had given up on her by 2008, but its a very solid album loaded with great tracks
6. Damita Jo. Also incredibly underrated and would've done much better if not for the circumstances that mustn't be named. I think it was much stronger than "All For You", lacking the filler and seemingly endless tracks
7. All For You. As an era, it was great and the excellent songs here slay, but I do think the album suffers from being overlong and having too many tracks that seem to go nowhere.
8. Janet Jackson. People ignore pre-Control Janet because she wasn't a big name yet, but there's some fantastic tracks on this
9. 20 Y.O.. As a collection of tracks, it is actually better than its reputation, but as a cohesive album from Janet, it is lackluster and really lacks the punch and highs her previous work is known for.
10. Dream Street. Not as bad as its reputation, but a relatively faceless album with no hints of what was around the corner for her. Don't Stand Another Track and Dream Street are great tracks.

I am SO tired of the Europeans and some Americans saying that Janet was local and ONLY known as Michael's little sister. WHAT? At one point, she was outshadowing him. And her legendary contract was not for US success.

And her biggest albums were more successful or equally outside of the US as in.

164. Janet Jackson Control 13,500,000

300. Janet Jackson The Velvet Rope 10,000,000...
And, this list hasn't been updated in ages! She's global. One of the biggest debut tours (over 2 million attendees) and just these 4 biggest albums total ~60 million.

Come on! She was huge! And will be again (I hope)! LEGEND!

oh, not for a second do I believe it... but just last week in the Chart Analysis forum was a Gaga/Rihanna fanatic trying to claim that Janet will never be more in Europe than "Michael's sister', and I find it funny to see a Rihanna fan bashing her so much since Rihanna is so influenced by Janet it isn't even funny.

Well, I would not say anything, but the truth is that Janet is a local artist. Sorry.

In Brazil Janet is an 'almost' unknown artist. And we're talking about a country of over 200 million people!

The same for the rest of Latin America.

In fact, the last time Janet was featured in Brazilian TV was for a story about she supposedly calling her brother Michael a drug addict to sell her new movie or something like that.

I think after that, if she still had some fans, just lose them. And not only in Brazil.

Furthermore, I think Janet neglected the world arena. Or maybe the world public was not interested. Who knows.

But I wish Janet all the luck in the world. I do not really like her as a person. But the girl has some really cool songs. I love "All for You", "Velvet Rope", among others.

That is NOT a Billboard list.

People - please stop posting such dross.

Janet doesn't have a single album that has sold over 15m copies.
