I voted for Hurts largely on the strength of just HOW great "Wonderful Life" is - an absolutely fantastic song!

Well I don't listen to radio and rarely watch music channels, so I've just not heard any of their music yet but have heard their name. I'll give their album a download and listen to them later.

Two up and coming R&B acts today

38. Drake (200 points)
Voted By: FreakyFlyBry, Shorty, JSparksFan, hugom2c, stevyy, Formusic, lambforever, musiclover, Star, Kirill, abi

Image
Debut Album: Thank Me Later (2010)
Breakthrough Single: "Best I Ever Had" (2009)
Biggest Hit UK: "Take Care" (w/ Rihanna) (#9 2012)

Aubrey Drake Graham, better known by his middle name, comes in at #38 here. He had some success with some mixtapes in 2009 before his studio debut in 2010 "Thank Me Later". Before that, "Best I Ever Had" went #2 on Billboard in 2009. Since, he has had 12 top 40 hits in the USA and 2 Top 40 in the UK. He has also teamed up with several of the biggest names in 21st century music-- Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, and, in 2012, Rihanna. He may be the Usher of the 10s at his current pace.

Another artist famous for team-ups next

37. B.o.B. (202 points)
Voted By: tdc2000, FreakyFlyBry, Tripolis, JSparksFan, lambforever, Formusic, king_oxymoron, musiclover, Kirill, toni_pest, fearlessswift, abi

Image
Debut Album: B.o.B. Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray (2010)
Breakthrough Single: "Nothin' On You" (2010)
Biggest Hit: "Airplanes" w/ Hayley Williams (#1 UK 2010)

Rapper Bobby Ray Simmons, Jr is #37 on this countdown. He debuted with his team up with Bruno Mars, "Nothin On You", a UK #1 hit, and followed it up with "Airplanes" featuring Hayley Williams of Paramore, which also went #1. Three more singles followed from his lead album, the biggest "Magic" with Weezer's Rivers Cuomo. He is about to drop his second album, the lead single "Strange Clouds" already out (and a platinum single in the USA). He may be best known for performing in several different genres, an eclectic mix for the new decade.

I like all four of these to varying degrees. Archuleta I liked on the show, Hurts I have seen live and enjoyed, Drake is really impressing me lately and obviously I voted for B.o.B!

I'm sorry I didn't vote, but BoB is just a regular rapper, nothing special. Why do people like hip-hop so much, haha

Hurts are great, too low. My Top 15!

Did I really vote for Drake? I must have really been running out of people! That being said, "Up All Night" and "Make Me Proud" are pretty great mainly because of Nicki. I do love Drake's verse on Mary J. Blige's "Mr. Wrong".

B.o.B. is pretty awesome. I really liked him on Bruno's "The Other Side". He doesn't work particularly well on a solo basis but when he's got a singer (like Haley on "Airplanes" and Bruno on "Nothin' On You") singing the hook, he's unstoppable.

Two very different acts today

36. Santigold (203 points)
Voted By: nickf1, hugom2c, stevyy, NothingFails, SholasBoy, Star, Blondini, crazycrazy, toni_pest, fearlessswift

Image
Debut Album: Santogold (2008)
Breakthrough Single: "Creator" (2007)
Biggest Hit: "L.E.S. Artistes" (#27 UK 2008)

American Santi White, formerly Santogold, now Santigold, comes in at #36 on the countdown. Her debut single "Creator" just missed the UK top 100 in 2007. When her first album was released in 2008, it garnered a lot of critical buzz and the breakthrough hit "L.E.S. Artistes", which made the UK top 30. Five more singles have followed into the current year, when her second album "Master Of My Make Believe" will be released. The variety of charts she has reached-- from rap to electronic to indie, shows her wide appeal and genre combining in a short career.

Owner of one of the bigger UK hits since 2007 next

35. Mika (206 points)
Voted By: tdc2000, FreakyFlyBry, Shorty, hugom2c, stevyy, matthew_dixon, Formusic, Star, Kirill, crazycrazy, abi

Image
Debut Album: Dodgy Holiday EP (2006)
Breakthrough Single: "Relax, Take It Easy" (2006)
Biggest Hit: "Grace Kelly" (#1 UK 2006)

Eligible for this chart because his true debut full-length album was "Life In Cartoon Motion" in 2007, Mika is #35 on the list. He had one of the biggest hits of 2006-7 in "Grace Kelly", a UK #1, followed by four more UK top 10 songs and two top 5 albums, the most recent in 2009, "The Boy Who Knew Too Much". His third album "The Origin Of Love" is due next month.

B.o.B & Drake were fillers in my list, they aint that bad though.

Hurts are good.

Mika is a genius, Life In Cartoon Motion is a classic modern album.
