I'm sorry, but I disagree completely.

If I am talking to you, I want you to know that I'm talking to you - it keeps conversations cohesive, and transparent. There can be no mix ups.

I don't even always use the quote function, but I definitely don't want that right to be taken away.

I find nothing wrong with quoting either when people are having a conversation. As Wayne said, it avoids confusion.

It's clear that a few people get annoyed far too easily on the internet. :o We can't even quote the next person up from us? Why even bother with having a quote function at all?
