Well, it's Madonna. She propbably wanted all attention just for herself and MIA's Super Bowl gesture ruined itRightToDream wrote:I doubt they'd be that childish over something so harmless.MatheusCiccone wrote:Oh, another thing: apparently, Madonna's team is really upset with M.I.A and cuted her off of B-day song.
If memory serves, "Candy Shop" was one of the first songs produced for HC and she loved it but by the time the album was done "she was over it". It was a fantastic tour opener but I'm not sure it would have done well as a single. I only listen to the live version.NoAngel wrote:It's not hard to believe in this when you take into consideration that she wanted "Candy Shop" as the first single from "Hard Candy"MatheusCiccone wrote:- Interscope didnt want GAYL as the first single, but Madonna insisted so much for this....
I love CS: it's been my fave from the album since ages......NoAngel wrote:That song works only as a tour opener IMO. Not as a first single. But later on.
No way!!sambo9 wrote:I think "Ray Of Light" should've been the lead single of ROL, with "Frozen" being the follow-up. It would have made it clearer that she had moved on from the ballad-heavy mid-90s Madonna and was ready to move back into the dance world.
It has grown on me just lately.....I remember it being one of my least fave from the album at the time, and was the song I used to skip most of the time listening to the album.jio wrote:"Ray Of Light" is not among my personal favourites from Madonna
Cmon Chris needed some hard cash to buy its beloved white thing.....You really believe to every BS he put on that book?sambo9 wrote:Have any of you read the Life With My Sister Madonna book? As much as I like her as an artist, I do think seems like an absolute nightmare to be around. Although, of course, that begs the question, why did he feel the need to stick around with her for so long? He could have left the misery behind and made his own path in life.
Ray of Light is one of my favorites of all time, but i think that for a first single, frozen was a better choice, since it was a "slower" track and pointed in the direction she was going this time. At the time Frozen was diferent from everything at radio.sambo9 wrote:I think "Ray Of Light" should've been the lead single of ROL, with "Frozen" being the follow-up. I couldn't disagree more. Frozen was perfect as the 1st single.sambo9 wrote:I think "Ray Of Light" should've been the lead single of ROL, with "Frozen" being the follow-up. No, it was right desicion too to release "4 Minutes" instead of "Candy Shop" as the first HC single!TiagoRodrigues wrote:I couldn't disagree more. But you know what? Madonna wanted Ray OF Light as the first single...and Frozen as the 2nd single.
This is actually the only time Warner Bros did a good decision...

Candy Shop would've been a bigger flop then Give Me All Your Luvin'BlueScorpion wrote:"Candy Shop" would be way better. "4 Minutes" sounds a mess all over, it even doesn't have a proper chorus.
If she was a man, it's a go-getter and taking control and doing the hard work.sambo9 wrote:Oh, definitely, you have to take the book with a pinch of salt, but I certainly believe the implication that she's viciously ruthless. It would have been difficult for her to achieve what she has done without being that way.
How did Frozen do on the radio? It was very different. It's a beautiful song and it did do well in the US. I always wished it reached #1, but timing is everything and MYWGO was on an epic run.Dragonn wrote:Ray of Light is one of my favorites of all time, but i think that for a first single, frozen was a better choice, since it was a "slower" track and pointed in the direction she was going this time.
