Your favourite artists that are no longer with us?

This topic is sadly inspired by the passing of many great talents over the years, recently most notably Whitney, Michael, Etta & Amy Winehouse.

Here are a few artists that I love/enjoy that are no longer with us.

off the top of my head:

Harry Nilsson
Klaus Nomi
Kirsty MacColl
Patsy Cline
Sam Cooke
Buddy Holly
Michael Jackson
Judee Sill

...and I feel some more of my ultimate faves will not have long left with us i.e. Yoko Ono, Paul Simon, Randy Newman, Glen Campbell, Loretta....

So many, but off the top of my head - Roy Orbison, Michael Jackson, Luther Vandross & Whitney Houston.

Those four losses affect me on a personal level [even though I wasn't able to perceive the loss to music when Roy actually died].

I've always enjoyed her vocals on The Prince of Egypt soundtrack yet never looked into her or her own music so it comes as a surprise. AIDS has taken some of the most uniquely talented artists.
