This song definitely didnt kill her career. The horrible album that followed this single killed her career.

I don't think Judas killed Gaga because Edge Of Glory immediately followed it and was huge

i totally agree about
MADONNA AMERICAN LIFE , that single ruined her career at radio forever. She cant recover from that on the radio front like JANET cant from Superbowl ...
MILEY Cant Be Tamed ruined Mileys career and of course i will add apsolute career killer that is
Christina Aguilera's NOT MYSELF TONIGHT that actually flopped because of video for the song.
MARIAH also could have had huge album again with EMC2 if she didnt release BYE BYE and released MIGRATE instead ...

there are many examples of songs videos moves or scandals that ruined big stars careers or at least career at radio ...

Controversial and non conventional video for Marry the Night that was actually the best video during BORN era killed the album. She shouldnt have gave up after that one, same as Britneys team shouldnt stopped releasing singles after Criminal.
I can not believe how short lived Femme Fatale and BTW were and they were kicking ass at this time last year and all the way until these singles came out :/

I love it, but it did next to nothing anywhere - failed to even reach the UK top 10! They should have returned with Magnificent.
Absolutely right on this one!
U2? Seriously?! They just finished 360 Tour, which is the most successful tour of all time, grossing over $700 million! U2 is far from being dead.

I think we're talking in terms of hit singles. U2 usually have at least one HUGE single per album, ATYCLB had "Beautiful Day" and HTDAAB had "Vertigo". Get On Your Boots just didn't catch on and none of the followups seemed to recover from it.

I'd also say What The Hell for Avril Lavigne...
That was the song somehow when people noticed that she tries repeating the sound of her previous albums and so doesn't progress: People lost interest in her and since than, her records started flopping and she hugely lost popularity (except from Japan).

Now her next album has to prove whether she can return or not.

Same for P!nk's Trouble (and her Try This album), who could successfully return with I'm Not Dead and Kelly Clarkson who was pretty much down after Never Again and My December and is on the way to get back to where she was during Breakaway-era with her current album...

I bet she will return this year with smash singles and a smash album, just like P!nk did with SGs and IND :) :)

Scissor Sisters career had faded quite a lot prior to Shady Love anyway.

I agree, also I don't think Marry The Night/Judas have killed Lady Gaga's career, rather I think they've killed the Born This Way Album in terms of hype/sales.

A few points:
- It was her 3rd biggest hit (out of 10 singles)
- It was her biggest for 5+ years
- It was outsold by the #2 single that week by just 57 copies
- It was a charity single for 'Children In Need' with all proceeds going to the cause
