134 ¬ Atomic Kitten ¬ 193 POINTS

If you see me walking down the street,
Staring at the sky and dragging my two feet,
You just pass me by,
It still makes me cry but you can make me whole again.

And if you see me with another man laughing and joking doing what I can,
I won't put you down, 'cause I want you around,
'cause you can make me whole again.

Looking back on when we first met,
I can not escape and I can not forget,
Baby, you are the one
You still turn me on,
You can make me whole again.

Atomic Kitten were an English girl group, first established in 1997 in Liverpool. The original line-up featured, Liz McClarnon, Kerry Katona and Heidi Range (now in the Sugababes), but Range decided to quit and was replaced by Natasha Hamilton. Jenny Frost (formerly of Precious) replaced Katona in 2001. Hamilton, McClarnon & Frost were the final and most successful line-up of the group. Atomic Kitten had three UK number one singles; Whole Again, the fourth best selling single by a girl group of all time; Eternal Flame and The Tide Is High (Get The Feeling). They also had two UK number one albums, Right Now, a re-issue of their debut album, and Feels So Good, both going double platinum in the UK alone. Atomic Kitten sold over 10 million records worldwide. In terms of sales, Atomic Kitten are the one of the most successful European girl groups of the twenty first century, alongside the Sugababes. The group’s first single, Right Now, debuted in December 1999 and reached the UK Top 10. After their initial success, Atomic Kitten performed an Asian tour and scored their first number one hit there with Cradle. The album, also titled Right Now, was first released in Japan on 16 March 2000, and subsequently released in the United Kingdom on 23 October 2000 with a slightly modified track list. In 2000, the group also recorded a cover version of The Locomotion for the movie Thomas and the Magic Railroad.

133 ¬ KT Tunstall ¬ 197 POINTS

er face is a map of the world
Is a map of the world
You can see she's a beautiful girl
She's a beautiful girl
And everything around her is a silver pool of light
The people who surround her feel the benefit of it
It makes you calm
She holds you captivated in her palm

Suddenly I see (Suddenly I see)
This is what I wanna be
Suddenly I see (Suddenly I see)
Why the hell it means so much to me

Kate Victoria Tunstall, better known as KT Tunstall (born 23 June 1975 in St Andrews, Scotland), is a singer-songwriter and guitarist. She broke into the public eye with a live solo performance of her song “Black Horse and the Cherry Tree” on Later… with Jools Holland. She has enjoyed commercial and critical success since, picking up three nominations before winning a BRIT Award, and a Grammy Award nomination. She is also the recipient of an Ivor Novello Award. Throughout her twenties, she played in indie bands including Elia Drew and Tomoko, and focused on songwriting, as well as performing with members of the fledgling Fence Collective including work in the Skuobhie Dubh Orchestra with King Creosote, who recently supported her UK tour. She also lived with Gordon Anderson (The Beta Band and The Aliens), whom the song Funnyman, on the album Drastic Fantastic, is about. She toured with the Klezmer band Oi Va Voi, and guested on their album, Laughter Through Tears. Her debut album, Eye to the Telescope, was released in late 2004. Tunstall’s style of music varies from folk to pop. In Edinburgh and St Andrews, she played in a band called Red Light Stylus, which was regarded as one of the better bands to emerge from the limited Fife scene.

KT Tunstall gets on my nerves. Mainly because they would not stop playing her songs when I used to work in retail.

The first proper job I ever had was a supervisor for Europe's biggest discount retailer, Poundland!

AND they played music in store each day, the same songs all the time. And amongst the epic Booty Luv songs, and crap dance mix's, was KT Tunstall. All the flaming well time!

Never really bothered with KT Tunstall in the beginning of her career - but when I did :o I loved Drastic Fantastic. She's amazing.

Atomic Kitten - they were good for what they were I suppose. Loved the catfights with the Sugababes at the time.

More than any artist yet, it was painstakingly difficult to pick "just" 5 Cher songs. She has had so many massive hit singles that aren't listed above but most will know about - I've therefore opted to list potentially less known songs above such as Strong Enough and Love Hurts [the latter of which didn't chart as a single anywhere IIRC]. Anyway, what to say about Cher - she is potentially the most imitated artist in music history, right up there with Elvis. Believe cemented her status as an icon, and her farewell tour - which reportedly grossed approximately $250m worldwide - cemented her status as a legend of entertainment. She is undoubtedly the most successful singer/actor ever. Her voice is instantly recognisable and her total record sales - which by the way amount to some 100m - make her one of only a HANDFUL of female artists to have sold this many records without the aid of cheap digital sales. Cher is a bonafide legend.

Year-on-year, she stays remarkably stable, showing that she continues to draw in new fans. Her stint in Burlesque attracted a lot of new fans, probably because she acted alongside Christina Aguilera [make no mistake though - the plaudits in that film were almost exclusively for Cher's acting]. With 935 points scored, from 30 voters, Cher's average points score is a terrific 31! matthew_dixon ranked Cher highest [his #2] with a number of voters [KevinScream, taverner, mattsky and 04wayne] all ranking her inside of their top 5!

Cher (born Cherilyn Sarkisian on May 20, 1946, later adopted by Gilbert LaPierre.) is an American singer, actress, songwriter, author and entertainer. Among her many career accomplishments in music, television and film, she has won an Academy Award, a Grammy Award, an Emmy Award and three Golden Globe Awards among others. Referred to as the Goddess of Pop, Cher first rose to prominence in 1965 as one half of the pop/rock duo Sonny & Cher. She also established herself as a solo recording artist, releasing 25 albums, contributing to numerous compilations, and tallying 34 Billboard Top 40 entries over her career, both solo and with Sonny. These include eighteen Top 10 singles and five number one singles (four solo). Cher has had 16 top ten hits in the UK between 1965 and 2003, four of which reached number one (two solo, one with Sonny, one as part of a charity single). In a career surpassing 40 years, Cher has been described as an enduring pop icon and one of the most popular female artists in music history. Since her debut in 1964, Cher has sold as a solo artist over 180 million records worldwide and an estimated 70 million singles and with duo Sonny and Cher over 80 million records becoming one of the biggest-selling artists of all time. She became a television star in the 1970s and a film actress in the 1980s. In 1987, she won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in the romantic comedy Moonstruck. During 2007, in the seventh volume of Chrome Hearts, Cher once again confirmed that she is working on her twenty-sixth studio album. No recordings have taken place as of yet, and no release date had been scheduled.

Taylor Swift is one of the great young songwriters in America. With a track record that would make many stars perceived to be bigger than her envious, Swift's promising start in music as developed into a fully fledged career. She consistently features atop the best-sellers list for live performance and recorded music sales, and along the way has broken some pretty historic chart records too.

The most amazing thing about Taylor's placing this year is that she has risen a whopping 78 places - it represents potentially the biggest climb of any act inside the top 100, in the chart [NB. new entries not included & I'll double check]. Taylor Swift was ranked inside of 11 top 10's, and was ranked #1 by a massive 6 voters [the following therefore lose their #1 - swiftie13, Formusic, fearlesswift13, anthonyalex, ChartSales & dingdong123]. This means that Taylor Swift was the #1 voted act for over 6% of the voters! Pretty cool. Her average points score was 33 points!

Taylor Alison Swift (born December 13, 1989 in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania) is an American country pop singer-songwriter and actress. In 2006, she released her debut single “Tim McGraw”, then her self-titled debut album, which was subsequently certified multi-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. In November 2008, Swift released her second album, Fearless. Fearless and Taylor Swift finished 2008 at number-three and number-six respectively, with sales of 2.1 and 1.5 million. Fearless has topped the Billboard 200 in 11 non-consecutive weeks; no album has spent more time at No. 1 since 2000. Swift was named Artist of the Year by Billboard Magazine in 2009. Fearless won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year in 2010. In 2008, her albums sold a combined four million copies, making her the best-selling musician of the year in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Forbes ranked Swift 2009’s 69th-most powerful celebrity with earnings of $18 million. In January 2010 Nielsen SoundScan lists Swift as the top-selling digital artist in music history with over 24.3 million digital tracks sold. To date, she has sold over 10 million albums worldwide.

Taylor Swift this high :o :D I love my girl Taylor to me she has the potential to become the next Dolly Parton however I wish she was below Dolly and a couple other legends like Cher and Stevie and I could list a bunch more however I'm sure I'll see artists above Taylor who I would never put that high so its not like she isn't deserving of this placing. Extremely happy with this and I didn't know so many people were fans of Taylor on here :D

I'm not very familiar with Cher's work but if "Believe" is any indication of her talent, she's definitely an act worth checking out.

As for Taylor, I believe I ranked her as my #4. She's one of the absolute best modern Country music has to offer and I love all three of her records, especially the brilliant Speak Now. A lot of Taylor stans have been joining UKMix lately so her ranking comes as no surprise to me. Hater gon' hate but I love Taylor. Her music tells the story of millions of hopelessly romantic teenagers and young adults worldwide and it's that type of relatability that has made her the massive success story she is now.

I always respect Taylor for embracing her role model status whereas so many other artists shun theirs. A true class act. 8-)

Taylor Swift before Cher - :o

Taylor is cute, I've heard a few songs, and they're pleasant, but she's only made it in America. Whereas Cher has been slaying since 1960.

Cher is a true legend. Her appeal really does transcend the generations and her style has definitely evolved with the times, keeping her relevant for so long and I'm glad to see her so high up :D

Taylor's one of the biggest stars today, and one who I think will be around for some time to come. :D

If you haven't noticed Taylor is slowly starting to conquer the world. i'm talking about the extremely succesful speak now world tour. Taylor is big here in asia if that's any indication of her fame.

Anyways taylor is my number 1 at the moment but I'm contented with 33. 8-) She is an awesome songwriter and singer and her songs have touched lives all over the world. she sends out a message with every songs that she make and she will continue to do so in the coming years because she loves her fans and that's why her fans love and support her all through out. Despite her superstar status she is so down-to earth and has a very kind heart. Did you know that she had just recently grant a kid with cancer his wish? :o That is our taylor! 8-)

Glad to see Taylor in the Top 40 !
To me , Taylor is #1 .. Why?

Well , in this Era you won't find an Artist who's honest in their songs , down to earth off and on camera , has a decent voice , classy , plays multi instruments all together , Taylor is just '' it '' to me .. she's all of that mixed together , and the result is a beautiful young lady who knows what she's doing
and the fact that she Writes , Composes , Co-produces her own music is a bonus .

Everyone thinks Taylor is just ( Local ) in the US . she's really no , if you look at Speak Now or Fearless , they both charted in so many Countries ! certified in a bunch too
Yeah she's no Britney in being the '' worldwide star '' But as for a Country labeled artist , she's doing way more than fine .
Speak Now was the #2 best selling album of 2011 in China , #2 in the US , and #9 in Canada , #15 in Australia .. And it was more of a success in 2010 , so that says it all

and for people who are saying Taylor writes immature songs , she really doesn't
If you look at Speak Now , it was written when Taylor was 18 and 19 , with the exception of Sparks fly that was written when Taylor was 16 .. She was STILL a teenager , You'll notice her songs mature more and more by her next albums

And look at songs on Speak Now , Dear John , Last Kiss , Innocent , Back to December , Better than revenge , Ours and more .. they're all songs that people at any age can relate to

& a sold out tour in Asia and Europe AND the US is not easy specially that it's not like venues , they're all arena's and stadiums .. that's hard for an artist to do right now!

She's not only a vocalist or a song writer
She's an entertainer who connects with every single person in her shows , she just does it .. it's magical .

Oh and Taylor sold more than 41 million digital singles and more than 21 million albums worldwide , she'll keep selling , one day the world will realize she's got it all .

As Legendary Bon Jovi said , Taylor is '' The Real Deal '' .

Sorry for making it long but yeaahh 8-) 8-)

I think Taylor is awful live, but I respect her as a musician. As far as I'm aware she can play the guitar and she's highly involved in the songwriting of her albums. I also like how endearing she comes across in general, even if her permament "OMG! I won, I'm soooo shocked!11!!!!11!1    " face every time she wins an award, annoys me. LMAO! Besides "You Belong With Me" which I like on occasion, I'm not feeling her music.

Cher is someone who I respect for her longevity and her multifaceted talent, but, like Barbra Streisand, I dislike. I only kinda like "The Shoop Shoop Song (It's In His Kiss)". She's a legend though.

Needless to say, neither made my votes.
