Chris975 welcomes you to Aalborg, Denmark

Aalborg (or Ålborg) (Danish pronunciation: [??lb????] ( listen)) is a Danish industrial and university city in North Jutland. The city of Aalborg has a population of 103,545 [2] (124,921 including Nørresundby) making it the fourth largest city in Denmark in terms of population. The municipality of Aalborg has a population of 199,188 (2011)[3] making it the third most populous municipality in the country after Copenhagen and Århus.[4] The earliest settlements date back to around AD 700. Aalborg's location by the Limfjord made it an important harbour during the Middle Ages, and an industrial centre later. Today, the city is in transition from a working-class industrial city to a knowledge-based one.

Getting in early - Australia again.

I thought I came 5th last month....*needs eyes checked*

And a "no" to the poll question either. Why should we allow covers, regardless of which country they're from? Ok, there's some great covers out there, but that kind of defeats the purpose of this contest - to discover new songs by new artists (although granted, we have had songs that were hits in other countries or known by other members etc, but I think that's a little different).

I pose that question partly because of the game's purpose. Say for example there is a song which covers some unknown hit from Burundi. Since the majority of us wouldn't know it, why should it not be allowed to run?

I suppose in that instance it might be ok, but I still say no in general. If we allow there to be covers from some country we haven't heard music from before, then it opens the floodgates for more well-known covers to be included.

OK anyway, this month the rules remain the same. We'll see what happens from next month. And anyway, in no case am I refering to straight covers. Just for example in cases like the Czech song of last month were it was partly a cover and partly a new composition

Don't just take my opinion as gospel. Wait until everyone else has had their say....just because I've put my point across somewhat strongly doesn't mean people are going to agree.

Greece

Could we also specify how the artist's origin is determined? Till now, I was under the impression that the act (or half the members comprising it) should be born in the country they represent.

No, I don't agree we should allow covers - or songs featuring a sample from another song for that matter.
