As some of you may know, Beyoncé is one of my favourite artists ever. I feel that she already has many classic songs that can establish her name as a legend in the music field, and hence here's my tribute to IMO one of the greatest artists of all-time.

The countdown will start soon, and meanwhile vote for the song you think will be #1. :D

The first five.

40 ¬ Me, Myself and I

Image

"I took a vow that from now on, I'm gonna be my own best friend..."

One of the earliest songs from Beyoncé and one of my favourites from her debut album. It's also the first of two entries from that album. It's decent, but Beyoncé has had much better tracks than this. I don't really like her first album compared to her future releases, that's why it has so little tracks on this countdown.

39 ¬ Lay Up Under Me

Image

"We'll let the candles be your light tonight..."

First track from "4" to crash out. It is, to me, the weakest track from "4". Not great, but decent. It's the first of fifteen entries from "4" - but will one of the songs from that album top this chart?

38 ¬ 1+1

Image

"I don't know much about algebra, but I know, one plus one equals two..."

Two "4" songs crash out in a row! This is easily the worst track from the standard edition and it really divides opinions between Bey fans. I belong to the group that thinks this song is just okay. I guess I just don't like this type of songs - it's too slow for me. The lyrics are great though.

37 ¬ Rather Die Young

Image

"You make me feel like I'm seventeen..."

"Rather Die Young" is beautiful - but I got bored of it after some time. It's good and is different from the usual type of songs Beyoncé releases. This is the third song from "4" to exit the countdown.

36 ¬ That's Why You're Beautiful

Image

"The sky's blue, that's not my business..."

The first track from I Am... Sasha Fierce. This track showcases Beyoncé's vocals very well and the lyrics are great too. It's one of the weaker tracks from the "I Am..." side of the album, but it's still decent enough to make my countdown.

Ooh, we're off to a rocking start and everything's ranked appropriately so far too! :D

"Me, Myself and I" is pretty good. I love the lyrics and it's definitely one of the highlights from Dangerously In Love. I'd give that one 8/10.

"Lay Up Under Me" is okay, not fantastic, but certainly listenable. It gets a 4.5/10 from me.

"1+1" is good, even though it's arithmetic and not algebra. It gets a 6.5/10 from me.

"Rather Die Young" is undoubtedly my fave of the batch. That chorus is just amazing. I can literally hear the passion in her voice. 8.5/10 for that one.

I can't remember "That's Why You're Beautiful" so I'll listen to it again and give it a rating later.

Thanks for all the comments so far!! :)

35 ¬ Broken Hearted Girl

Image

"I don't want a broken heart, I don't wanna be a broken hearted girl..."

A good track from the I Am side of the disc. It's emotional and is a song many girls can relate to. It's good, but I can't spin this on repeat as it gets boring after sometime.

34 ¬ Suga Mama

Image

"Though I made her seem lucky in my arms..."

It's decent and I don't get the massive praise it gets from fans. It's good, yes, but it's not that epic enough for some fans to rank this song in their top 10.

33 ¬ Party (feat. André 3000)

Image

"Cuz' we like to party!..."

Overrated as hell. Great tune though it's far from being my favourite on "4". I'm glad it managed to stabilize the album's sales though and it has had a music video that's pretty average imo.

32 ¬ Scared Of Lonely

Image

"And I'm scared of being the only shadow I see along a wall..."

And the second "I Am... Sasha Fierce" track falls in this batch. A good ballad though it's not her best. It should have been released as a single over the mess that is "Ego" or "Video Phone". I believe it would have been a big Urban hit.

31 ¬ Radio

Image

"I get butterflies when I hear the DJ..."

One of the better uptempos from "I Am... Sasha Fierce". Should have also been released as a single as the beat to this is epic. Would have been a massive dance/club tune and this track is extremely addictive. I'm bored of this already though it was my jam for a few months back in 2010.

BHG is horrid, although compared to some other artists releases it's excellent

TWYB, 1+1, Suga Mama are all tracks that I would probably place in my top 10 :(

"Broken-Hearted Girl" is good. It's a really nice song and I like it. 6.5/10

"Party" and I have had a bit of a rocky relationship, but we're good now. I used to loathe it but now, it's my jam! Infectious chorus. 8.5/10

"Radio" is hot, easily the best of the batch! From the first line, you can tell that epicness is in store. My best friend and I used to jam to those back in the summer of 2009. 9.5/10

40 ¬ Me, Myself and I... why is this so low? :o One of Bey's finest R&B tracks and definitely my favorite from her first album.
39 ¬ Lay Up Under Me... I actually forgot what it sounded like.
38 ¬ 1+1 ... wasn't a big fan of this at first but I'm actually really liking it atm. Such a gorgeous track.
37 ¬ Rather Die Young... Nice song, sounds like something she would've recorded for Dangerously in Love.
36 ¬ That's Why You're Beautiful... Oh Gosh, this is soooo underrated. One of my instant favorites from IA...SF. BEAUTIFUL!

35 ¬ Broken Hearted Girl... Another great track from the I Am... side. The live version is so much better though.
34 ¬ Suga Mama... I OFFICIALLY HATE YOU. My 2nd favorite from B'Day after "Irreplaceable". It's just an amazing track! Her ad-libs in the end are just :o :o :o :o
33 ¬ Party (feat. André 3000) ... Finally, I so agree with you that this is so overrated. Nice Urban tune though.
32 ¬ Scared Of Lonely... MY FAVORITE FROM THE Sasha Fierce side. So sad they decided to release "Video Phone" and "Broken-Hearted Girl" instead of this one. And i love her I Am... Yours performance of this to death.
31 ¬ Radio... It was catchy at first but it sounds a little annoying now. Should've been released instead of "Flopping Phone" though. Could've been a big hit!

30 ¬ Flaws And All

Image

"I'm a trainwreck in the morning, I'm a b*tch in the afternoon..."

One of Beyoncé's most emotional and personal tracks. I believe this means a lot to her as she often cries when she performs this song live. This gem is so underrated and is a fabulous tune especially when you are feeling down.

29 ¬ Get Me Bodied

Image

"I ain't worried doin' me tonight, a little sweat ain't never hurt nobody..."

Great tune from "B'Day", though it's far from my favourite track from that album. I love the extended version more than the original one and the video for the "Move Your Body" remake (changed lyrics) is great. Underrated as well.

28 ¬ Ave Maria

Image

"Oh I found heaven on earth, you are my last, my first...

I treat this like a Christmas tune as the lyrics suggest so. It is always my jam during Christmas along with Mariah's "All I Want For Christmas Is You". Beautiful track and extremely underrated, many fans tend to forget this track. Not my favourite off "I Am... Sasha Fierce" though as a few more tracks are much higher up.

27 ¬ Best Thing I Never Had

Image

"What goes around, comes back around, hey my baby..."

This is a decent ballad from her masterpiece, "4". It is infectious on first few listens and gets very boring after a while. Overrated as hell by many Beyoncé fans. IMO, this is just a mediocre ballad for her standards as she has much better ones ("Irreplaceable","Halo","I Miss You").

26 ¬ Fever

Image

"Fever in the morning, fever when it's late at night..."

One of Beyoncé's sexiest tracks. It was used as a song in her commercial for her fragrance, "Heat". Much better than the original IMO, and is my favourite version of the song. It's sad that this song doesn't have an official music video though as I can imagine it to be great.

"Flaws and All" is a cute song. "Get Me Bodied" is a CLASSIC! The vocals on BTINH are its best thing, otherwise it would've been quite bland. Heat's "Fever" is hot. Don't really care for "Ave Maria".

Love all the song's, but my favourite from the last batch is Best Thing I Never Had, the Instrumental is stunning and beautiful but Get Me Bodied is Amazing as well.
I also went through an obsessed stage with both of Beyonce's versions of Fever when Bey released Heat. :D

"Ave Maria" is definitely my highlight from I Am.... It's just so beautiful.

I love "Flaws and All" as well, even though the album version is slightly annoying but the live version from The Beyonce Experience slays!

as a huge Beyoncé fan myself I love your list :)
though I'm shocked only two songs from DIL are gonna make the list :o

hope you don't mind me doing a list, too, but the fact you're going to ignore DIL that much inspired me to put down the try of a ranking as well ;)
