Can't Let GO : Don't remember hearing it yet it

The Roof: A lot of fans say this is one of her best, I really have no opinion on it yet.

Stay The Night: I agree it could've been a hit! I love it, so laid back! 8-)

Candy Bling... haven;t heard MOAIA

the other song I don't rememeber either

Yeah, but they...but they...charted out so early....I can't even know what to say.
Okay, "Breakdown" is my horse now. Hopefully, it gets to number one.

Avenge the Butterfly album, "Breakdown".

25. Sprung
I can totally understand why this was only a bonus track, because it doesn't really fit in with the rest of the album. I really like it though. It's a good uptempo (TEOM has a few of them!) and again, Mariah's vocals slay.

Image

24. Fourth of July
This is another of those songs which is quite dreamy and so calming. A few years ago, this would have been much higher in my list, but I like it a little less now.

Image

23. Heartbreaker (remix featuring Da Brat & Missy Elliott)
Easily much better than the original for me! Back in 1999, I liked both equally, but this is the one which has aged better for me and I play more. Missy really brings something to this remix, Da Brat is meh as usual. Also, this song gave us this fabulous ghetto mess performance.

Image

22. Fantasy
'Fantasy' is one of Mariah's signature songs and definitely her most famous uptempo. Everything about the song is great and I have early memories seeing the video on TV all the time. The reason it crashes out before the top 20 is because I don't listen to it as much as the songs I've put above it, and that's probably because I've heard it so many times already.

21. Loverboy (remix ft. Da Brat, Ludacris, Shawna, Twenty II)
It's fun.

sprung: 7/10 I love it actually. It's really cute bonus track.

Fourth of July: 4,5/10 As I said before, it's a true filler track on a brilliant album.

Heartbreaker remix: 1,5/10 awful remix in my opinion. It's clearly one of her worst remixes to date.

Fantasy: 10/10 it's absolutely brilliant. One of the best songs ever.

Loverboy Remix: 7,5/10 Loverboy is way too underrated and misunderstood by the world. I adore the remix. Great song.

I agree. It's not meant to be taken seriously, but just for fun. And the video is so memorable!

Damn you're fast. More than half of your top 50 revealed already!

Can't Let Go - 10/10 - CLG is a perfect song.

The Roof - 7/10 - Good song but I'll agree with this: "Underrated by the public, overrated by the fans."

Stay The Night - 10/10 - If it wasn't for FLAB, STN would easily be my favorite vocal performance off of that great album. Adore this track. People complain that she's yelling on this song and Mine Again, but to me her "yelling" works much better on STN than MA coz the tempo is faster on the former.

Candy Bling - 1/10 - Why this HORRIBLE song is so adored by fans I will never understand.

Theme From Mahogany (Do You Know Where You're Going To) - 2/10 - I think this is a lame cover, but I see why you like it. It is easy on the ears, it's soothing alright.

Sprung - 10/10 - You have no idea how glad I am to see this rank so high in your countdown, biscuits. :D It's such a cool, lively song. Her belting is epic here. It's quite underrated in that respect. I just love the whole flavor of this song - it feels as though "Fantasy" was on steroids.

Fourth Of July - 6/10 - "I like it a little less now." Same here actually. Still a nice, breezy track.

Heartbreaker (remix featuring Da Brat & Missy Elliott) - 8/10 - OMG! I love that performance. You should also watch their performance on Oprah if you get the chance. It's hilarious. At one point Brat shouts "Opraaaaaah" and I just LOVE how O gets down to the song. LMAO! Like this song better than the original too.

Fantasy - 9/10 - It's a great uptempo...

Loverboy Remix - 5/10 - ...while this one is... :-? ...fun if you are in the mood I guess? lol I prefer the original personally.

I've seen the performance! My favourite part is how Oprah introduces Mariah. She has so much swagger!

As for the MTV performance, Da Brat messed up so bad!

TOP 20

Image

20. Thank God I Found You (Make It Last remix)
Another remix to start the top 20. I never paid this remix much attention when it came out, but I really began to like it a few years ago. I think it sounds quite similar to Mariah's other smooth, R&B james (The Roof, Breakdown, I Still Believe remix, etc) and it's a genre which Mariah does so well. (The original hasn't featured yet)

Image

19. 100%
I remember the first time I heard this song - I fell in love with it instantly and I must have played it like 50 times on the first day! It came around the same time as the 'Angels Advocate' mess, and for me, I was so relieved that Mariah was still capable of making songs which I adore. The lyrics are fantastic and her vocals are on point. I'm happy she is working with Jermaine Dupri again, because this song just shows that they have a formula which works really well. A couple of years ago, this would have made my top 10 easily but I think I've overplayed it a bit.

Make it Last: 10/10 This song is perfect. One of the best remixes ever done by anyone. The video is super hot.

100%: 7/10 this is a great ballad and much better than most what actually made it on Memoirs. This has many qualities her old 90's ballads also had.

Thank God I Found You (Make It Last remix)

I love this remix so much. It's really relaxing. In all fairness it should be said though that it is basically a cover version of Keith Sweat's "Make It Last Forever".

100%

This is by far the best ballad coming from the whole MOAIA era. It shits nearly on all the songs on the actual album.

Thank God I Found You (Make It Last remix) - Perhaps my favorite Mariah remix. Leaps and bounds better than the, sweet albeit unexciting, original. IMO

100% - Like you, the first time I heard this song I fell in love instantly. The Memoirs era was the era I followed Mariah the closest and I remember lots of things from it. JD had left Def Jam and there was bad blood between him and LA Reid which led to his track not making Mariah's album. He, I think in retaliation, premiered "100%" on radio without the label's consent when the album wasn't even finished. Unfortunately no fan had had the chance to rip it, but a snippet leaked. I played that snippet ALL summer of 2009 hoping to hear the whole thing on the album which was coming in the fall. When album tracklist/production credits were released in September I was very disappointed this song, or any JD track, hadn't made the cut. When I listened to the album snippets on Amazon everything sounded bland, unappealing and just lame, which made the omission of "100%" feel even worse to me. The song leaked in full a few weeks after the album was released and I LOVED it. It had nice music, inspiring lyrics and, unlike most of the Memoirs' songs, Mariah was singing her heart out.

These days, while I still appreciate the song somewhat, I think I'm over it. Perhaps because I have grown to despise JD productions so much? Perhaps because it's essentially nothing more than a trite, beat ballad that I loathe to hear on Mariah's albums ever since WBT? Who knows. I understand why you like it so much though.

Excuse my essay.

It seems like the rest of this countdown will be mostly comprised of late 90's and 00's Mariah. I'm losing hope that I'll see early (and best IMO) R&B Mariah songs like "Sent From Up Above", "Slipping Away" and "All In Your Mind".

18. Butterfly
One of Mariah's most personal and emotional ballads. This was just before her voice changed and she sounds great on this song. The final chorus is breathtaking. I don't really relate to it as much as I do with her other songs, and maybe that's why I don't like it as much as some of y'all?

Image

17. I Wish You Knew
One of the highest ranking songs from 'Mimi'. I love the 'live' feel to this song - it really gives it an extra edge and makes it stand out amongst her other ballads. Another flawless vocal, especially the final chorus!

Butterfly: 10/10 It is my alltime favourite song by Mariah. It is just so emotional for me. I watched her performing this song in Germany back in the day on television but I didn't know the name of the song, well I was a kid - not knowing anything in english. BUT the melody stayed in my head for a whole week. And in the same night, I dreamed of the song - it's melody and I remembered it. So I went out as soon as possible and bought the album. And from that moment on I became Mariah-nized. I hold this song so deep in my heart and I believe without it, I would not be the same person as I am now.

I wish you knew: 7/10 I instantly loved it. The live part is especially haunting.

Wow.

This top 50 countdown is super-fast.

Biscuits has good taste.

But to be fair, Mariah's music has always been leaning towards or inspired by R&B. It might've been watered down but it was there...
