Great! It's good to see an album like this in the Top 10. Too bad Norah had such a short life inside of it.

I'm still impressed that an album like Rainbow was able to shift 450,000 copies through this club.

Thanks, argentino78. I know that record clubs were starting to decline by 2002, but there are still several albums on the list from 2001/2002 which proves that the clubs were still contributing significantly to an album's total sales. It makes me curious what hit albums from a couple years later like 'Mimi', 'Breakaway' and 'Love.Angel.Music.Baby' managed to sell.

Damn you Columbia House for never releasing numbers! :x

The Thriller figure is wrong. It has scanned about 5M since 1991! Soundscan made a mess of this when different versions was combined - one version was added twice.

And Paul forgot AC/DC's Back in Black:

w/e 12-02-2012

8 140 198 * AC/DC BACK IN BLACK 1,354 13 1,199 2,818,646

That is the 2003 remaster only. Must have scanned around 3M since Mar 2002.

(And released Nov 2000, Beatles 1 wasn't a catalog album yet in Mar 2002)

Hey according to that list Mariah's TEOM is at 5,964,000`, hopefully a new album this year can boost that back pass Pearl Jam, it's gotta be 101 right now though, right?

the Pearl Jam figure is almost a year old, and "Vs." was remastered last year, sales might be closer to 6 million at this point

TEOM is indeed #101. Unfortunately, catalogue sales aren't very strong and even with the new album being released, I don't know that it can pass Pearl Jam. Passing 6 million is a different story, though. Maybe if they do some solid discounts coinciding with the new album release, it would finally hit that mark.

Imma email Island Def Jam :D

Hey I just noticed
76 ( = ) 6,514,117 Fearless - Taylor Swift (11/03/2012) 3,318 (-6%) 3,533

She'll move up 2 spots soon but she'll be stuck there for at least several months, unless of course she solves world hunger or something

I wonder if the Metallica fans are worried that Adele is already halfway there.

From Billboard.com:

Here is a recap of Morissette's total U.S. album sales, according to SoundScan.

14,727,000, "Jagged Little Pill," 1995
2,604,000, "Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie," 1998
1,020,000, "Under Rug Swept," 2002
673,000, "MTV Unplugged," 1999
474,000, "So-Called Chaos," 2004
401,000, "The Collection," 2005
376,000, "Jagged Little Pill: Acoustic," 2005
233,000, "Flavors of Entanglement," 2008
76,000, "Feast on Scraps" (CD/DVD), 2002

Total U.S. album sales: 20,658,000

"Pill" ranks as the third-best-selling album in the U.S. since SoundScan began tracking sales data in 1991. Only Metallica's "Metallica" (15,757,000) and Shania Twain's "Come on Over" (15,516,000) place higher.

As for the disparity between "Pill" and Morissette's subsequent releases, her star shone so brightly in the 1995-96, and she and "Pill" became such pop culture staples, that it would've been difficult for her to maintain such a profile. Plus, the material on "Junkie" was a bit of a left turn for those expecting more guy-bashing anthems. As Morissette found peace in such songs as "Thank U," fans may have wanted to continue to vent their personal frustrations through the jaded side of her music, perhaps resulting in some easing their loyalty to the evolving singer/songwriter.

As for new music? Late last year, Morissette indicated that it's on the way. As she posted on Facebook in October, "back in the studio saddle … the songs have come in droves!"

i cannot believe that people practically abandoned Alanis. Flavors of Entanglement is such a great album. Its total is a complete shame. (same for So-Called Chaos) and MTV Unplugged which I think is the best Unplugged set of all that have been released by any artist.

SFIJ should have gone at least 5x platinum instead of 3x platinum. The album is much better than JLP.

Agree totally. A shame she's regarded as someone with one huge album and then fell far. SFIJ deserved to do at least 4-5 million.
