Ellie and Taylor are like apples and oranges Akini!crazycrazy wrote:I just died.JSparksFan wrote:She reminds me of an indie Taylor Swift, just far less talented.I don't think she's anything like Swift really, I like Ellie Horacio btw, I knew she would win.
You were right so what..JSparksFan wrote:*Sips tea*Ellie's actually not that bad. I really like "I'll Hold My Breath", "The Writer", "Under The Sheets", and "Lights" from her. She reminds me of an indie Taylor Swift, just far less talented.JSparksFan wrote:^ Your lucky 7,777th post!![]()
Interesting set of nominees. It's so "Horacio". It's definitely between Matt and Ellie for the "Best New Artist" award and it's a tough call but I'll go with...Ellie.

Starry eye to starry eye for this chick! : - *phoenix98 wrote:Ellie, Ellie, Ellie <3
I remember seeing her name all over UKMix when "Starry Eyed" was blowing up, and even more when her album dropped. I was curious what all the hype was about, so I checked out "Starry Eyed" on YouTube...the original video is so simple, but so perfect, so enchanting!
fast forward a few months, and I'm flying Virgin Atlantic to the UK for a trip with a couple friends. Virgin has (or had, at least) this nifty feature where you can listen to full albums on the TV in front of your seat, so I checked out Lights, and it was "This Love (Will Be Your Downfall)" that convinced me I had to buy the album once we landed. I got my hands on it at an HMV in Newcastle, and I've loved it since! now I definitely can't wait for her second album.
my most played Ellie tracks = "This Love", "Starry Eyed", "Lights", "Under The Sheets", and "I'll Hold My Breath". the whole album is basically flawless, though! fantastic choice, Horacio. we disagree on a lot of stuff, but I'm glad we see eye-to-eye (or starry eye-to-starry eye, should I say?) on this fabulously talented lady.
Exactly!Noahh wrote:Woo for Ellie Goulding!!! <3
I've played her album Lights so many times but it's just doesn't get boring. Such a great album!
She started the year off great but towards the end she was practically unheard of. Every now and then I still spin Animal or Cannibal (which was in my top albums this year). She had a couple hits. In fact the only two singles she released this era, We R Who We Are and Blow. I wish The Harold Song had been released. I cannot wait for her sophomore album but I hope she takes a.. better direction, something like I'm The One cause I know she can. She has more talent than she allows to be seen, cause I ain't too keen on some generic pop tracks she has.
She had a great 3 hits this yer mostly due to hype. I do love Set Fire To the Rain and Rolling In The Deep, but Someone Like You falls flat. Overall I like her but she was literally being overrated all the time. her album is good but not the best! I got sick of her, plus her album never did any good in my chart, reaching way less than 1 million copies as I don't enjoy all of it. she's probably the most overrated singer in the last 5 years. She's great but c'mon. Oh well better her succeeding than a generic pop trash. I was considering putting her last, cause I am so sick of her, well not her just the fact that she's everywhere. I hear 21 like everyday against my will here and I think it's not cause it;s good, people just see people buying it so they think it's cool to like her.. like musical peer pressure. But anyways, she is very, very talented, no doubt about that. I like her but I think I am just ou of the bandwagon....Yeah same here for Adele though One and Only and Set Fire To The Rain are amazing and epic in my opinion.crazycrazy wrote:Adele is talented, couldn't listen to her regularly though. Kesha is not my thing although I heard a demo from her the other day which proves she can actually sing!![]()
Kesha is cool alright!PosziMC2 wrote:Ketchup And Adele!![]()

I discovered Adele through Rolling in the Deep on its video premiere ... by an accident.(Damn Youtube)I love her. She is so crazy.
I'll Be Waiting >>>> every single in this era

Kesha has so much better tracks IMO!JSparksFan wrote:Ke$ha and Adele are both great.
I remember being so obsessed with "Tik Tok" in late 2009/early 2010. It's grown off of me a bit but I still like it. "Your Love Is My Drug" is definitely my fave Ke$ha track, though. I like "Blah Blah Blah", "We R Who We R", "Blow", "Kiss 'N Tell", and "Take It Off" too.
Adele owned 2011. "Rolling In The Deep" is incredible. I've said it before but even though it was overplayed, overexposed, and overrated, I still love hearing it and that's the mark of a true classic. "Someone Like You", "Set Fire To The Rain", "One and Only", "Rumour Has It", "I'll Be Waiting", "He Won't Go", "Make You Feel My Love", and "Don't You Remember" are also really good.
Last year Jennifer surprised the heck out of everyone with On The Floor, her "comeback" smash it that exploded worldwide. Sadly her album didn't manage to fair the same. I did like it a bit though and managed to sell very good. Overall she had a great year in my chart, but failed to match the success of On The Floor even though I liked her two singles after that better (too much competition I think.) I do love JLO a lot and was present a lot in my childhood. Ladies and gets, at #12 is JLO.
A pop diva. Worldwide (except USA) star. I love her more than many big pop names. He has a unique voice and after I actually got used to it, learned to love it. 2011 was quit a year for her. I discovered her that year. With it came two #1 smashes, All The Lovers and Put Your Hands Up (If You Feel Love) which landed in great spots on the year end. Although Aphrodite isn't her best, I enjoy it. It also became #1 on my chart and sold fairly well. Kylie will always be one of my favourite females with albums like Impossible Princes, Body Language, Fever, X, and many more that are mainstream pop goodness. Could she place again in 2012?
First of all, she is probably my favourite guilty pleasure. I don't know why I like her music, I just do. She is certainly the best Disney act in a while. I bought her album this summer and was in shock at how good it was. Way better than I expected. All in all the album was a hit on my chart and contained the hit Who Says which peaked at 2 on my chart and the mega smash hit Love You Like A Love Song which peaked at 1 for a couple weeks. I like Selena a lot, she has a great personality. She becomes the first in the top 10.
Although almost unknown I am glad crazycrazy introduced me to her!She has an amazing talent! She also has recorded amazing tracks such as the epic Record Collector, and the #1 hit on my chart, When I'm Alone. Her debut is ace. I look forward to more of her! Initially her album did good but fell off. It came back stronger and eventually peaked at number one. Overall it was one of the biggest albums of 2011 in my chart. It was shocking even to me! I hope many of you check her out, she is truly amazing. I hope Kesha can step up her game. As for 21, I am over it LOL. and I think OTF is weak compared to the other two singles.Noahh wrote:Ke$ha: makes the perfect trashy party songs! I'm curious to see what she'll come up with next!
Adele: made another great record, though I think it's been blown out of proportion. I feel like it's a tad overrated. Her overexposure also 'caused me not be able to listen to 21 for a while. Love it now again though!
Jennifer Lopez: delivered my favorite song of 2011 with On The Floor. Such an anthem. LOVE? was pretty good as well. So excited to hear the new single. If it's anywhere near as good as OTF she might be a contender for my favorite song of the year again!
Kylie Minogue: Not a fan of her. But she has a few pretty good songs!
